When on 'My Pathfinder Society' > GM/Organizer Events, clicked on the 'Sessions' link, got redirected, and then got an error page (guessing got on a loop).

So, my bf is new to Pathfinder, and is currently creating his investigator for PFS.

His first question was: May I use sword and scabbard as two weapons with two-weapon fighting?

I have no idea if this is possible.

Hi guys!!! I have a level 8 druid, and so far I haven't found a practical way to manage the summons from NA (and also from Summon Monster). I was wandering if was something out there that could facilitate this.

If not, which would be the best way to accomplish such thing? I'd be willing to do it by myself, but I think a spreadsheet, although quick to introduce changes as Augment Summoning, wouldn't be manageable on the table during the game. So any suggestion will be appreciated.

Hi guys!! I'm organizing the first event with multiples DMs in my city, and I'm having a bit of a struggle as to which scenarios I should recommend them.

I already asked them for their opinion, but they rely heavily on my advice as to where they should start.

I've seen many threads that organize scenarios in a row of 10-15, but they usually jump from one Season to the other, and I've got the feeling it would be a bit confusing.

So, which criteria do you usually follow when it comes to choose scenarios? One DM should stick to one season? You choose many scenarios based on one region?

There are a few considerations I thought about:

1- I believe that some players will stick to one DM, as in playing a traditional campaign, so there might be a bit of expectation for certain amount of continuity among scenarios.

2- I found this amazing post in the forums suggesting "simpler" scenarios for newer DMs, so I'll probably be suggesting them to my newest DM.

3- Three of my DMs are currently playing Rise of the Runelords, and I don't want to spoil them the AP.

As always, I really appreciate all your support, and any advice (on whatever) is highly appreciated.

Hello, guys!

I've only run a module as a PFS society, but it created a lot of buzz around here, so I've decided to gather a small group of GMs to start running tables regularly.

We do not have any Venture Captains around here, so I'm pretty much doing this on my own. Am I able to do this? Is there anything that I should be considering? Any suggestion or advice will be appreciated.

My party:

Argos - halfling bard dawnflower dervish (currently level 4)
Barbel - half elf ranger with longbow (currently level 3)
Gimmistramo - gnome pyromaniac sorcerer (currently level 4)
Roff - dwarf crusader cleric (currently level 4)

A little briefing on how the run on Thistletop went so far:

Past sessions:
First day they went with Shalelu through the briars maze. They defeated all the goblins, included Gogmurt and Tangletooth. They rested on the forest.
The next session started with only two players, Argos and Gimmistramo, with Shalelu, and Roff starting a bit later. They killed the commandos and the dogs from outside the fort, and cleaned it, except from the throne room.
The following session the entire party + Shalelu defeated Ripnugget and the rest, and decided to bring the chief alive to Sandpoint to interrogate him. They rested in town.
Yet another session: they returned to Thistletop (without Shalelu), defeated the two ghouls that turned up as random encounter, and went to the island. I locked the outer door, added commandos to the towers, and got Bruthazmus shooting arrows from the tower to the half elf, and then to go inside to warn Lyrie and Tsuto (who is still alive). They killed the goblins, got inside, killed Lyrie rather quickly (in part because I forgot to use mirror image *facepalm*) and defeated Tsuto and tied him. Lyrie still managed to complicate their lives a bit: the cleric got -4 to her STR and a sundered hammer, heh.
The ranger missed (again) the following session: the rest defeated the tentamort, 2 yeth hounds, the four wives and allied with Orik. They called the guards (they told the Sheriff to send three of his men after them after a while) to babysit them while they sleep (yes, INSIDE Thistletop) and locked themselves inside the prison.

So, right now I have three, possibly four players, with a cleric that basically can't do any damage, but totally rested. They won't bring Orik nor the guards with them (and I won't allow it). On the other corner I have Nualia, Bruthazmus and a yeth hound.
I want the fight to be tough, but I do not want to TPK them. I was thinking to maximize everyone's HP, maybe adding another yeth hound. Maybe Nualia will be expecting them in the deck, with Bruthazmus coming a few rounds later on a surprise attack from the back.

What do you think, guys? Any suggestion, thought, advice is welcomed.

Guys, I just leveled my druid to 7, and I'm struggling with my animal companion advancement.

I should go from this:
Starting Statistics: Size Medium; AC +1 natural armor; Attack bite (1d6), 2 claws (1d4); Ability Scores Str 13, Dex 17, Con 13, Int 2, Wis 15, Cha 10; Special Attacks rake (1d4); Special Qualities low-light vision, scent.

to this:
7th-Level Advancement: Size Large; AC +2 natural armor; Attack bite (1d8), 2 claws (1d6); Ability Scores Str +8, Dex ­–2, Con +4; Special Attacks grab, pounce, rake (1d6)

plus this from the animal companion table:
Class Level 7
HD 6
BAB +4
Fort +5
Ref +5
Will +2
Skills 6
Feats 3
Natural Armor Bonus +4
Str/Dex Bonus +2
Bonus Tricks 3

Besides, there is the Ability Score Increase at level 4 that adds a +1 to any ability.

My doubts are as follows:
Not pretty sure what to do with the Ability Scores from the advancement. The +8 adds to the previous STR and then I should add the +2 bonus (which means 4 more points to the AS)?
Should I then correct the AC, attack and STR due to the size change, or are all those already included in the stats?

Hi guys! I'm currently playing Kingmaker, almost finishing the 2nd book. I did what every guide says you shouldn't do with a druid: that would be, playing a mixed druid. Yeah, that's me >.<

So let me tell you a bit about Elanna: she has Amra as an animal companion (cat, big, MW chainshirt, amulet natural armor +1), and together they are half the tanks, half the damage dealers. Elanna's damage is based mainly in spells, since the AC during wildshape it's just too fragile to be frontline hitting. I had the idea to fix this with a wild armor, but it just seems so imposible, I'm now doubting.

Should I go for it? What armor should I enchant? My other gear is a MW buckler, a headband of inspired wisdom and an amulet of natural armor +1. What other equipment should I be getting?

Any advice will be really appreciated.

As you all know, I'm having rough times in my RotRL campaign. But never lose faith, they say (I don't who, I'm just assuming someone somewhere ever said that).

I blame some of the troubles to the anxiety of starting the campaign (half the party has been waiting for 8 months to play), and to the sandbox-y feeling Burnt Offering has.

So I've decided to use some foreshadowing, so they know there's something big that will show eventually. Also, to improve their tactics. Something like Niska Mvashti saying in a harrowing '...but you won't defeat evil being unprepared drooling fools...'

But I'm concerned about the mount of information revealed. So, have you guys used any specific moment to foreshadow things? Or can you think of any good moment?

So far, I'm thinking those the AP mentions: the harrowing, the Catacombs (with the scribbled messages and dogs howling).


Help. Please. I'm begging.

I'm pretty sure my run of RotRL has been the most troubled run ever. I'm currently at the 3.1 version of it, after several players left the table (apparently, playing every other saturday was too much of a commitment to them). But finally, got the party. This weekend was the 3rd session, which ended up when they found Tsuto's letter.

The session was... problematic. Two of my players are Pathfinder DMs. Another player comes from D&D. And the fourth one comes from Vampire (where it seems it's OK if your PC is a sadistic a**hole, and nothing happens when you act as a jerk).

The main issues (and the solutions I've came up so far) are next, but please, give me your opinion. At this point, anything helps.

1) They don't listen. Not to me, not among them. Not as players, nor as characters. They keep interrupting each other. Solution: no one can interrupt. It's a matter of respect, for God's sake. Be civilized, otherwise, you're out of the table for ten minutes.

2) Meta-knowledge. Both the DM-players got knowledge from other sources. I'm dealing with this in two ways: some of it (the info they got wrong), I let them keep, until they find an NPC that laughs at them for having such ridiculous ideas. It has worked, so far. It has even made them more... humble. When they go too far, I tell them to stop using knowledge their characters don't have. It wasn't as succesful as the other solution.

3) Not enough meta-knowledge? The Vampire-player thinks he is the medieval Superman of this story. He wants to go alone to clean up the forests. He has a ranger. He has 10 hp. He is insane. Apparently, this is due to the lack of knowledge as how the system works. Not pretty sure how to handle this. Maybe explaining how this works? Also thought of talking about this from the character's perspective: why the heck would a foreigner that has just arrived to town go into a suicidal mission to clean the forests from goblins, which is also impossible?

4) Ego. They have decided they know more. They are better experts in Thassilonian ruins than Brodert, they think they know better as how to rule the Militia... and the town. Seriously. The words 'they have no idea how to rule this town, we do' were said on the table. I'm thinking about trying to show them the big picture: they are newcomers, and don't know anything about the town, nor the NPCs. How can you judge anything without knowing it? Also, there is no motivation for the characters to do a lot more than to help people when they're being asked, and to try to figure out who was behind the goblin attack. I mean, do you really believe that if there was a dungeon in the lighthouse, which has been in the middle of the town the past 50 years, no one would have realised by now?

5) Alignment. One of the characters stabbed a militia member because they thought he was suspicious. Solution: they lost the discounts, have penalties to Diplomacy checks, and lost any privilege. They can't purchase in some stores. The only reason why the character wasn't send to prison, is because the other players intervened. Should I be harsher with this?

At the end, it was fun, but at some points it gt really annoying. I want to stop this behaviours right know, before it's too late.

Hi guys!!! The idea of joining the PFS has been growing lately, but I really don't know where to start.

There aren't Regional Coordinators in my country, so there are no events. I'd like to start running the modules (I already have the players), but not sure what to do. Should I just post an Event on the Event page as a DM? Or do I need a RC?

So, I wasn't going to create this thread, but what the heck, let's all have fun and later I'll deal with the guilt trips.

I've run only the first session so far, and my players already came up with this:

1- Cyrdak is an evil villain, who must be watched closely.

2- They'll be facing the Sandpoint Evil really soon.

3- They'll have an undead guide (seriously, I have NO idea where this came from. One of my players told this to a friend in common who is also running the campaign, it was so hilarious that he sent it forward to me).

4- Ameiko is a major plot character (I believed they will be very dissapointed about this).

5- And my favourite: Norah is a mystic fish that will adivinate things for them.

I used the games for the Swallowtail festival and the speeches from this forum, and apparently anything that takes 15 seconds of my time to describe is a major plot point.

They seriously need to stop... I don't know, allucinating??

On the other hand, they have already realised that someone is behind the goblins attacks, and that the fire may be related.

So, do you have any fun theories?


So, I have a question I'm pretty sure it comes out from my inexperience as a DM, but anyways, here it comes.

In the store description, specially in Savah's Armory, a few magical items are described. I have 2 questions related to this:

1- These items count against the minor and medium items limit of the town's marketplace, right?

2- Should I have a list of the items already available at the stores, or (if the limit hasn't been reached yet) the store should have available what my players ask for?

Hello guys!!! First, a warning: I'm trying to make this post player-friendly, but there may be mini spoilers.

I'm currently playing a druid in Kingmaker (Elanna and Amra, her lioness :3 ), devoted to Erastil. She had a good reason to join the rest of the adventurers in first place: their orders were to eliminate the bandits, and she knew these guys were doing some serious damage to the lands (which was confirmed later when she found out about

Spoiler:
the dead unicorn).

Anyways, this is what concerns me now: as far as we now, most of the bandits are dead, so why she would stay in this new city? And why in hell she would choose to even be part of its Council? Maybe she opted for the "lesser evil", and would feel better if she could keep an eye on the region? And having power to decide, she could influence the fate of these lands? I know Erastil it's not a "vegan" god, he just doesn't wont innecessary cruelty, and he's not entirely opposed to human settlements, but still. Is it pushing too far?

Mmmh, yeah, this is probably the dumbest question ever, but I'm going to make it aanyways. See, the economy in my country is a little... complicated right now, and every Paizo product I buy means a huge inversion (specially the shipping costs).

So, is there any difference between the book and the PDF besides the Interactive maps?

Hi guys! Been reading the forums for almost a year now (yeah, stalking :P ) and always found a lot of help around here for my pcs, so when a couple months ago decided to start directing RotR, sounded just right to ask for your help once more =)
I've run other games and small adventures for Pathfinder, usually with my boyfriend as a player, who helped me a lot with the rules, but this is the first AP I'm directing. I'm familiar as how to play monsters and bad guys, and how to read an AP. For now, I'm corcerned about two main issues:

1- I've played so far 2 APs, the lousiest run of Carrion Crown ever (that ended in a TPK and our DM didn't want to keep directing) and Kingmaker, still running. The thing is, usually we don't know much about the setting. For example, my Kingmaker druid Elanna, heavily involved with Erastil, didn't know much about him until I discovered Gods and magic a few months ago. So, I'd like to run things differently with RotR. I already handed my players the two Player's guides, Varisia: birthplace of legends, and Gods and magic. One of them (sorcerer gnome) is reading Gnomes of Golarion and another one (halfling bard downflower dervish) is reading Faiths of purity. Can you think of anything else that could help with the setting? I also recommended the bard Faiths and philosophies. I think knowing the setting could really help them, and also is more fun. =)(And I love goodies!!!)

2- The difficulty of the AP. So far we have a gnome sorcerer of fire and a halfling bard downflower dervish. Is a cleric a must? Obviously a tank is out of discussion, but the fourth char worries me. They know APs are made for the typical party, and I wouldn't have troubles adapting the difficulty in case they chose any other class, but I'm afraid they may get stuck without a divine caster. (Oh, btw, my intention is to get to end of the AP).
Regarding skills, they already covered Knowledge Religion, Geography, Dungeoneering, History and Arcana. Do they *really* need anything else?
And the last one: they know about giants and dungeons, anything else I should tell them (keeping spoilers to a minimum)?
