I ran this last night, and was disappointed with it. The adventure had potential, and maybe I made some mistakes running it.
The setting was interesting and the structure seemed fun, except...
Spoiler:
The adventure assumes that the PCs will walk into the Crystalcrag and immediately, with no prompting, want to overthrow the ruler of the city.
There are too many adventures where the PCs have to deal with horrible people in positions of power. This has trained the players - even members of Liberty's Edge or Silver Crusade - that they are not to overthrow the current authority in an area unless explicitly prompted to do so.
In this adventure, there is no-one who would suggest the PCs overthrow Tygora.
The problem with the motive in this adventure meant that when I ran it, the PCs immediately went off the rails. It got to the point where I had to explain the central conceit of the adventure, and the session was an utter failure. I will certainly never run this adventure again.
I did not like this module. It was frustrating in numerous places, and felt mainly like the author designed set-pieces first, and railroaded the PCs into them.
The final combat felt abusive, and wasn't any fun. In fact, all the fun we had came from role-playing (we're a regular group), and was pretty quickly dispersed by the actual module.
