Nathaniel nods in agreement with Zeb.

"I agree. If we have no idea where to start, than any direction seems as good as another. Maybe someone in Camp Vengeance will have some idea where the city is, plus we'll have made an ally in Undril."

Turning back to Syndra, he says "I think we need to start with the basic jungle supplies. We all know how to survive in the temperate lands we come from, but aside from Ambooku none of us know what it is like to live in the jungle. So finding a guide who can assist, and a list of jungle supplies such as the bug spray you suggested, would be my first priority."

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

"I'm sorry to see you in such a state" Nathaniel says to Syndra.

"Be assured we will do our best to find the Soulmonger and end this curse. We appreciate the seed money you have given us, and the list of things to focus on will surely be helpful. Do you perhaps know which merchants might offer these goods, allowing us to buy them without a lengthy search of Port Nyanzaru for the best deals? Are there any guides you or Wakanga could recommend to us?

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Nathaniel politely greets Wakanga, this being the first time really meeting him. "I'm pleased to make your acquaintance sir. Please excuse our impatience, but we do believe time is of the essence right now if we are to help Syndra."

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

I agree, we should talk to Syndra again first.

Nathaniel nods in agreement with Zeb. "Agreed. We need to talk to Syndra before we decide on anything else." Then addressing Undril "If you'd like to accompany us, or if you can wait and give us somewhere to contact you, we'd be happy to help you get to Camp Vengeance. It may be a bit before we head there though, since we have yet to figure out which direction we need to go."

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

How do we want to approach this guys? Obviously we are supposed to be finding the cause of the Death Curse, the Soulmonger. However we have no idea where it is, and so far have found no clues leading us towards that. We also don't really have an idea how much time we have to work with. If we are trying to save Syndra how long can we mess around in the jungle possibly getting no closer to our goal? On the other hand we could always use friends and allies, so helping out Undril sounds like a good idea if we can do it. I am unsure what kind of balance we can/should strike here. Any thoughts?

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

"Do you mean the Death Curse? Are you going out there because you can help them with that?" Nathaniel asks her. "We can help you get to Camp Vengeance if we head out that way, but at this point we honestly don't know which direction we should even be heading." Nathaniel looks at the rest of the group and says "Don't forget, we are here for a reason, and our time is limited. We need to find some information out before we go wandering into the jungle. What do the rest of you think?"

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Nathaniel waits to hear what Undril's response to Zeb is.

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Nathaniel looks her over, curious as to how the group would have come to anyone's attention so soon. "I doubt we are the only ones planning on a jungle expedition from what I have seen in Port Nyanzaru so far, but yes, we are going to head out and test our luck" he cautiously hedges.

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Otherwise I can only imagine how awesome we'd be doing. Team Stealth, onward!

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Nathaniel also tries to continue down the alley without drawing any more attention from the guards, but luck just isn't on his side.

Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

I also have disadvantage from my scale mail, cancelled by the advantage.

Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Nathaniel gets mobbed by the onrushing crowd, and makes quite a scene as he tries to get over to the alley, likely drawing the attention of the chasing guards.

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Nathaniel is pretty miserly, and figures there is enough coin scattered around for now, so he continues to run with the rest of the group.

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Nathaniel runs with the rest of the band, only readying his shield in case it is needed.

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

We left the wizard lady and the incubi to follow the guards who were taking the man to the Executioner's Run. Ambooku independently went ahead to the run to see if he could do anything there. The guy he is trying to save there is someone entirely different than we were dealing with - he is still here with the rest of us.

As for our situation, I don't think we are at 'turns' yet, even though we rolled initiative. Nathaniel doesn't want to be involved in the (attempted) killing of the lawful authorities in the city, which they seem to be. I say we run.

With the odds being what they are, Nathaniel grabs at Omara to get him moving, and shouts to the rest of the group "Run!", before he begins trying to get out of there.

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Yup, this went downhill real fast. Nathaniel is a little slow in reacting as well.

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

"Damn, damn, damn," Nathaniel curses under his breath as people begin to take off. Shaking his head, he takes off after Seraphiel and Zeb, unwilling to split the party up so easily.

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Sorry my post seemed slightly off, but DM's "dismissed" post was not showing for me at the time, so I was only reacting to the earlier post.

"Gods damn it Zeb!" Nathaniel curses, "This is exactly what we were trying to avoid. Now we are ankle deep in this s#&+, and sinking fast. Let's get out of here while that is still an option."

Zeb, what god do you worship, any obvious holy symbols/signs/etc? As for the guy, let's get out of here, then we can decide what to do quickly without evil lady looking over our shoulders.

LOL, Paizo has a language filter.

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

[Rewinding a bit]

Nathaniel lets out an exasperated sigh. "Fine, we can escort him across town, it will at least give us an opportunity to learn the layout a bit. Besides, who really wants to engage with five (6?) armed men?"

[To the present]

Nathaniel's eyes widen at the sight of the fiends standing at the woman's side, and harden as she offers her ultimatum and burns Omara. Turning to his companions Nathaniel whispers "Fine mess we have got ourselves into now. I don't see that we have any choice at this point but to accept, since I'm doubting we walk out of here without agreeing."

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

"It's not the fruit," Nathan says to Orym "it's the money, and the control. To some, yes, life is worth so little. Yet another reason for us to be cautious in how we act here."

To Omara Nathaniel says "I still can't see why you need us. If there is to be no attacking of guards, which is a good thing, then how exactly are we going to help you beg for your life? Or do you expect us to save you from the executioner should they decide not to have mercy on you?"

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Yes, please don't feel bad about role-playing your character. Nathaniel is more concerned about the "big picture" good than an individual's problems. So he is just trying to see how this guy would fit into the larger scheme of things, and if helping him would in fact hinder the main goal of dealing with the death curse.

Seeing that his new found allies are moving towards helping the strange man, Nathaniel softens his stance. "If we can help you deal with this without jeopardizing our mission, then you can count on me. I do not, however, want to run afoul of the law here." Addressing himself to the rest of the party "We must keep in mind what we came here to do. We are outsiders in Chult, and do not understand all the implications of our actions. If we get on the wrong side of the authorities in Port Nyanzaru it could make things very difficult for us. We must tread lightly."

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Nathaniel feels for the man, but is unsure exactly what the situation is, and is hesitant to get in over his head. "That sounds quite bad, my friend, but I don't understand. What does it mean to receive a note from the Ytepka society, and why would you get one? I think I can speak for us all when I say that we will need more to go on before we could possibly 'save your life' as you are hoping we can."

Persuasion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 Try to get him to divulge more info.

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

[Oh, I see what you mean by repeats. So we have a 1, 2, 4, and 10.]

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

[Oops. Well, I would have used Perception then, since that is a +4.]

Bonus re-roll: 1d10 ⇒ 2

[So my d10 total is a 12?]

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

[I assume you wanted us all to do this, or just those at Wakanga's?]

Upon waking in the morning Nathaniel seeks out Zeb and says "Well, shall we find our adventuring companions then?"

Perception/Insight both the same: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Bonus: 1d10 ⇒ 10

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Nathaniel is ready to turn in as well. In the morning he'll go out with Zeb, hopefully finding the rest of the party first, then we can set a plan for the day.

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

"Well...that makes things a bit more complicated, doesn't it?" Nathaniel says. "Nonetheless, a deal is a deal. We will do our best to map the whole of Chult for you. Where can we find you when we are back in Port Nyanzaru?"

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Nathan looks at the map for a bit, angling it so that Zeb can see as well. Turning to Lerek he asks "We are to map Oraluga and Nangalore, correct? I don't see them on the map at all. Do you have any idea of where these ruins lie in relation to Port Nyanzaru, or some other major geographical feature? It would certainly be helpful to know which way to launch our expedition."

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

[Regarding my conversation with Lerek: Assuming he confirms that we are not talking about a leaky rowboat with a broken oar... ]

"I would be glad to accept your offer, it seems we would both benefit by it."

[As for cleanliness - Nathaniel is as clean as possible under the circumstances at all times. So if I could be bathed, wearing clean clothes, etc, I would be doing so right now. Nathan's face also doesn't seem to grow hair, perhaps a byproduct of his celestial background, so his appearance is of being very clean shaven.]

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

[What does this guy look like, a native of Chult or a mainlander?]

Insight: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Nathaniel, normally a pretty good judge of people, feels like the stranger is playing it straight with them. After a second thinking about it he extends his hand and says "My name is Nathaniel, what is yours, stranger?" After hopefully receiving a reply he continues "So, to make sure I completely understand the deal, we are to map our journey through the jungle as best we are able. WHEN we return we present our map to you and you will purchase us a boat complete with crew? What kind of boat are we talking about, something that could sail us back to Baldur's Gate if needed?"

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Nathaniel sighs, and shakes his head at the missed opportunity. "Looks like we're on our own tonight" he says to Zeb. "Kaya's house it is. Lead the way."

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Nathaniel is not as impressed by the bustling nature and exotic sights of the city as some of his companions perhaps are, and he takes in the sights with a calm expression on his face. The oppressive heat does seem to get to him though, and you quickly see sweat stains on his clothing and beads of it on his face.

Insight: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

As he studies his surrounding Nathaniel fails to notice that Syndra's servants are struggling. However when Orym (and anyone else who is helping) begin to leave, Nathan tries to offer to escort them as far as Syndra's friend's house in case anything should trouble them in this strange city. "Ah, perhaps I could come with you, make sure Syndra arrives safely?"

Persuasion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Perhaps a bit unhappy that he didn't offer to lighten their load, Nathaniel is politely rebuffed, and left standing on the street.

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

[Going back in time a bit, before the portal, to answer Zeb's question.]

Nathaniel weighs his words before answering the old warrior, then says "I have a calling - that is I am sworn to a higher power. I was lead here to do something important, and now I know what that something is. So I go because I choose to try and rid the world of this evil, but also because ultimately I must." Then, with a wry smile as he passes a hand over his lean body he says "Despite my perhaps unimpressive physique I can assure you that I have seen my share of fighting already. My faith and force of will guides my sword arm as surely as your muscles guide yours."

[Back to the present.]

Nathaniel seems a bit surprised as the bag of gold appears in his hands, and a portal appears in the room. However he is eager to begin this quest and steps confidently through the gate after Syndra is carried through.

It seems the Wayfinder app is dead, and it has been removed from the play store.

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Nathaniel confidently states "Whatever the challenges, I am confident that we can overcome them. If we stay true to our purpose, then nothing can stop us."

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

"Do you have any contacts where you are sending us?" Nathaniel asks. "Someone who could get us started on the right path once we arrive in Chult?"

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

Nathaniel nods as Syndra describes the Death Curse, and the Soul Monger. "That being the case, it is my duty, and pleasure, to accept your offer. What say you, fellow summonees?" Addressing himself once more to Syndra, Nathan asks "How soon until we depart for Chult?"

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

[Just a question, I thought we were in Baldur's Gate; is she offering us passage to Chult, or are we already there?]

Male Aasimar Warlock (Hexblade) 1, AC 18, HP 11/11, Passive Perception 14, Init +2

A pretty tall, at least by human standards, man follows the group in. He wears a set of fairly average traveler's clothes, although the style is not quite what someone from the Sword Coast would possess. At his side is a sheathed longsword; the hilt shows clear signs that it is much used, but well maintained. His stance unconsciously shows that he is accustomed to wearing armor, although none is being worn at this time. As he sweeps his hood back you can see he has fine features in a completely unblemished face. His hair is a rich brown with golden highlights, but without a doubt his most striking feature are his eyes. They are a pupil-less topaz, and frankly somewhat unnerving in his otherwise human face.

Nathaniel softly says to himself "This must be why I am here, this Death Curse." As he takes in the surroundings Nathan's attention is piqued when another one of the gathered adventurers asks just why Syndra has gathered them here. He stares at the person huddled in the chair and without even waiting for an answer to the previous question just flat out asks "Do you have this Death Curse? Have you asked us here to find some way to cure you of it?"

[Just how tall is your Firbolg if I may ask?]

My delayed character, I hope you were not waiting on me to finish the mechanical bits.

This is also a test for my alias.

As for timing, I suppose I would have bumped into Ambooku after he kicked ass on the boat, and was making his way down the docks to the warehouse.
