Hi, I made the recent post on Reddit for my friend and myself. I am thinking about either a half-elf or Aasimar hexblade (good aligned), and he is thinking a native Chultan barbarian.

How are we creating characters, I mean are we all going to do 4d6 drop the lowest, or pointbuy, or it is mix and match per PC? Is there a provision to re-roll stats if they are terrible?

GM, if I understand you correctly, there's still potentially a spot open for Zeb. Getting him assembled. Will finish tomorrow morning (EST).

Hi all, I'm the friend Sorn mentioned above. I am thinking of playing a tougher-than-nails human barbarian native of Chult who got shanghai'd up to Baldur's Gate and is looking to get back. A party traveling that way might want to try to use him as a guide, at least that's my current concept.

Also, I just made this Paizo account two minutes ago, so if I'm doing anything wrong feel free to tell me :)

I'd like to roll for starting money if I can.

Starting Money: 4d4 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 4) = 11

Total*10gp = 110gp.

Guess there is an edit time limit.

I also get 10gp from my background (mercenary veteran).

Item List:
Longsword 15gp
Dagger 2gp
Scale Mail 50gp
Shield 10gp
Dungeoneer's Pack 12gp
Arcane focus (crystal) 10gp

Total: 99gp, 21gp left

As I mentioned before I am going to be an Aasimar Hexblade, with a celestial (Solar) patron. Instead of my pact weapon being the stuff of shadows I am going to reflavor it as being radiant in nature. My hex's and curses will be reflavored as divine/holy retribution or something like that, basically bringing the feel of the class towards a holy warrior type.

I'm working towards getting the character finished, and I hope to be able to post something more substantial tomorrow.

Here is what I have for my character. I went with point buy for stats and the default equipment for the Barbarian class and Outlander background.

Background

Spoiler:

Seraphiel is a member of the Harpers, a group allied against tyranny and all forms of villainy. Seraphiel is a beneficiary of the group's activities when its agents rescued him from Thay, where he evaded life in thrall to Szass Tam by the narrowest of margins. It is therefore no surprise that when he came of age, he joined that group.

On the other hand, Seraphiel is different. Though born of human parents (who are long dead now), Seraphiel is an aasimar, a being touched by the divine. And such marked him from the beginning for great things. At age 9, Seraphiel began to manifest miraculous powers often healing those hurt. (It was this ability that attracted Szass Tam.)

A member of the Harpers, by the name of Zhul, taught Seraphiel to harness his powers, as well as, ethics, which in retrospect is probably for the best, as Seraphiel has a roguish streak in him.

Appearance

Spoiler:

Often cowled, Seraphiel avoids showing his face to most people, so that his heritage would not be obvious -- golden eyes are hard to ignore.

Be that as it may, his hands hint at a pale complexion.

Those who have seen him though say that he has this aura, an x-factor that makes you like him.

Done and ready to go. Info is in the alias.

Interaction with NPCs part of backstory:

With great loss of life, they drove the orcs further and further back into Muranndin. As they neared Muranndin, the enemy ambushes started to contain more and more female orcs, who fought with a ferocity of ax and tusk unmatched by the males. One female, in particular, fought Zeb with the fury of a demon and the two rolled around the tunnel locked in a deadly grip. Zeb finally managed to slip his dagger from his belt and finish the orc off. He then proceeded into the chamber she had been guarding and found a small, green child wrapped in cloths.

His commander Alric commanded Zeb to finish "the little monster." Seeing the humanity of his enemies for the first time, Zeb refused the order. "He's no threat to anyone", Zeb replied. With a harrumph, Alric spat and said "Aye but he'll grow to be one." But Zeb stood firm. "We've no right to kill a harmless child based on a guess." Alric commanded several soldiers to take the child by force but Zeb spread his feet in the tunnel and gripped his halberd in both hands. "Me and the babe will be living together or dying together." The men of his company hesitated, recognizing Zeb's deadly stance and the cold fire in his grey eyes. When Alric ordered them forward, they fell back several steps, fearing their respected comrade and wishing him no harm. When they had made their intentions clear, Zeb strapped the squirming orcling to his back and headed into the dark tunnels towards Muranndin. Evading the haphazard orc patrols through sheer good fortune, Zeb left the child on the path outside a small orc village.

Any elves from further up north if you want to have traveled awhile with Orym it might be fun.

I am looking first at the fluff of Firbolgs and they have a tie to elves. They take elf names if they travel outside of their own clans.

Second their view of "civilized society" tends to see it as an affront to nature and they don't understand concepts of economy or "why doesn't everyone just share." I makes sense for him to have an elf friend.

I can go either way. I just need to gauge how absolutely un-street smart I can make him. If he has had someone helping him navigate his survival and travel of a great distance is less of a long shot.

I haven’t really been keeping track what does the make up of the party look like?

Question, will this be played with battle maps or theater of the mind? My reach build is very spatially-dependent and theater of the mind tends to work out poorly for those builds.

Pole arm paladin
Firbolg ranger
Elf mystic
Aasimar warlock
Human barbarian
Divine soul sorcerer
I'm thinking of setting up a roll 20 for moving in combat, and everything else on here

That'd be great. There are a couple good ways to do maps on here.

Looks like the party will be a fun mix.

Ya i'm rlly excited

Nathaniel pulled his cloak tight to ward off the foul weather, and once again wondered why he had to come to Baldur’s Gate. It was so nice in Procampur this time of year, he thought to himself for the hundredth time, wishing he were back home. Still, when his patron sent him a vision to go somewhere or do something, Nathaniel never hesitated. Not that the Solar really tolerated any dissent – Nathaniel was allowed a certain amount of leeway in doing what he was instructed to do, but never allowed to ignore his patron’s wishes outright.

Nathaniel’s musings brought him down to the docks of Baldur’s Gate, as they often had since he’d arrived here – he supposed it was because this at least reminded him a bit of home. He was suddenly disrupted from his thoughts by accidently bumping into a short, dark-skinned man who seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere. “Sorry my friend,” Nathaniel said with an easy smile, “I didn’t see you down there…my mind was elsewhere.” With a half-bow he steps away from the man and says, “Perhaps we will meet again sometime when we are both less distracted,” and continues his stroll down the docks and his thoughts.

Sorn and Venthax do you know how to make aliases

Join here where we will run the combat

I made a link to the roll 20 page.

Ok thanks

Regarding aliases - No, sorry, this is my first time using the Paizo board. So any instructions or tips are more than welcome.

To add an alias, click the "My Account" link at the top of the page and then click "Create New Alias" under messageboard aliases.

I'm pretty new as well, and several of these people were and still are teaching me stuff

Changed my name because I found a cool picture.

Trying out this new alias thing you guys were talking about

A woman's scream alerts everyone in the vicinity of the docks. Anyone who looks can see it is coming from the woman who just sold the fruit to Orym. The cause of her scream appears to be a tiny (4'11") bare-chested, wiry man with dark bronze skin. A bottle dangles in his mouth, with one arm around the woman and his other hand holding a melon (though some might say he was actually holding two, judging by where his first hand is).

In response to her screaming, he looks shocked, then confused. He lets go of her and drops the melon. Then a look of anger dawns on his face and he snatches the bottle from his mouth and shouts "You Lie!"

Turning away from the woman, he jabs a finger towards a nearby boat and repeats, louder "YOU LIE!!!" The crew of the boat he is pointing at appears to be trying to pull the vessel away from the dock as quickly as possible. The short man plugs the bottle back into his mouth and breaks into a sprint towards the boat. He reaches the edge of the dock and bounds onto a piling before leaping towards the ship. Catching onto the ships railing, he climbs onto it and jumps onto the sailor manning the tiller, tackling him to the ground.

Holding him down with one hand and wailing upon him with the other, the dark skinned man shouts "You lie! You give Ambooku bottles to believe your lie! You tell Ambooku lay-dee wants to be all kinds of nice to Ambooku! She no want to share her fruit!!!"

A deckhand comes over to help his pinned crewmember, but the wildman leaps upon him and knocks him out with a quick series of blows. The rest of the crew, some of whom look like they are themselves recovering from injuries similar to the two downed men, now gives a wide berth to the man pacing about the deck like a restless wild animal. "You take Ambooku from home, lock Ambooku in boat for... for very long time! Ambooku finally escape from boat, then you LIE to Ambooku about being friends, with bottles, and nice woman."
"Now... you try to LEAVE Ambooku here, with NOTHING! Well, Ambooku take THIS!" and he takes the shirt off the unconscious tillerman. "And THIS!" and he takes a pouch from the unconscious deckhand. "And THIS, and THIS, and THIS!" he says grabbing some hatchets, a backpack, and some harpoons. "AND... you no take Ambooku back to Chult, you no go ANYWHERE with boat!" he says, dropping his newfound belongings next to the tiller before grabbing it with two hands and, with a roar of effort, snaps it off of the boat.

With that, he scoops up the dropped items and, still holding the broken tiller like a club, leaps from the railing and heads back to the dock. He stamps across the dock, jostling into several people along the way, until he gets to the corner overhang of a large warehouse, under which he squats and glares at his surroundings for a moment before seeming to calm down some.

[Sorry for the lengthy post. Hope it establishes the character; I've been watching a bunch of Dawn of the Croods with my daughter and it inspired me to play a character this primitive. Chult just seemed to be great at getting it to fit. ]

Alias test of Ambooku for Venthrax. Also want to mention that I think I'm swapping out the Pike listed on my character sheet with a Ship's Tiller (Maul).

This is also a test for my alias.

As for timing, I suppose I would have bumped into Ambooku after he kicked ass on the boat, and was making his way down the docks to the warehouse.

The Elven boy sat cross-legged, unstill and barely even breathing. Eyes closed. The only movement, the only south, the shallow rise and fall of his chest, which made the tunic he was wearing rub every so slightly together.

He was surprised when the first snowflake landed on his face. Opening his eyes, he saw that he was still sitting on the same piece of ground, but that it had floated up into the clouds.

As he sat there pondering his fate, he realized that for the first time in his life, he was truly alone. No clan members, no traders from the other villages, no one. There is no one here he thought to himself.

"That's not quite true." said the voice. Turning, the Elven boy saw an exact copy of himself.

"Who are you?" he asked, confused by the turn of events.

"You." was the reply.

"What do you want?"

"You." came the reply again.

It was then that fear gripped him for the first time.

As it washed over him, his doppleganger smiled. He smiled the sort of smile that a cat gave a mouse, right before he pounced.

The other took a step forward, and then...

The clouds were replaced by the hut. Smoke still billowed from the dying fire, and the boy realized that he was in pain. Someone had struck him. looking up, he saw his mentor, Relthios.

"What did you learn?" Relthios asked the boy.

The boy opened his mouth...

Oh fun characters, but no Bard to sing welcome to the jungle

Looks like some really awesome characters. I joined through the roll20 link but haven't used roll20 before and want to make sure I'm not missing something. We don't have anything happening on there yet, correct?

DM Greaek wrote:

I can strike it out on the Dulcimer.

Lol, and zeb not yet

The enemies will just have to have an evil bard worth them to sing it in an attempt to intimidate and demoralize us :p

Nice, Vrog, I was almost expecting your character to come across "the demogorgon" for a moment there :)

We'll have to reccomend it to wizards of the coast

heh

Is there somewhere to subscribe to this campaign so that I can see when there are updates?

Also, is there a good way to access the forum via mobile? It doesn't seem like it will be super friendly to type in bbcode tags for on the go posting.

My delayed character, I hope you were not waiting on me to finish the mechanical bits.

Nathaniel Seely

How do I put the little character stat summary in the Characters tab like Orym has, or do you do that Greaek?

Sorn wrote:

Second

@ Sorn: Once the game starts and you join it, it'll appear in your campaigns tab. There is an app called wayfinder that you can find in the google play store that is designed specifically for accessing your campaigns.

As far as the snippet character info goes, you'll need to put it into the race/class/alignment fields on your profile. Then it will show up when you post.

Today is my first day back at work in awhile. I also have my table top group tonight but I can upload the stat block template I use.

Let me figure how to post it with the code.

And whoever asked a while ago a useful language grung would be one

Dark Archive

yeah that was me.

Ok

Ambooku you were talking about being from chult, there are not that many human tribes in the wilderness, so were you raised by people of a different race, or were you in port nyanzaru

Here is a link to the Stat Block I use.

Character Stat Block

I had originally intended for him to have been part of a tribe in the wilderness, but the tribe had been wiped out when he was young by some enemy I have left undetermined. He then wandered the jungle mostly alone and helped by guidance from his spirit animal, but could have transiently interacted with other humans and lizardfolk. I chose Lizardfolk (Draconic) as an additional language since I figured he would mostly get along with them.

I'm flexible and want to make this work with your idea for the campaign. Would it make sense if he were to have grown up in the jungle near Port Nyanzaru, perhaps going between traveling townsfolk and local lizardfolk tribes?
