The Baroness looks thoughtful as she makes sense of whats been said in her mind, after a moment she signals to one of her servants to go and fetch the promised reward.

"Thank you, the Witches Tower is still clearly a dangerous place even when knocked down. It is good to know what happened to the tower though, even if it cost Hunclay his life."

The servant brings in a pouch containing 500gp in coins.

"If you'd like to earn a fair bit more I have another opportunity for you." the Baroness says, "I've been suspicious of the kobolds living near the town for a while now but they've never done anything to harm us until now. It seems that times have changed, I'd like you to drive the kobolds out of the region, killing their chief would be one way but I'll leave the specifics up to you. If you can drive the pests off I can offer you a dozen amethysts that I have."

She turns grim, "as for Hunclay, it's clear the towers collapse was his fault but he's also died for his troubles and so not a threat to the town. He was an eccentric and misanthropic loner and so his manor is no doubt full of dangers. Calladastina will need to sort out the issues of inheritance and I've placed orders that no one enters until that is resolved. I'll take the key and pass it onto the guards."

"Thank you, the kobolds have weighed on my mind for a while now and so it will be good to see them gone. If you need help I know of another adventurer also staying in that inn who could be of assistance to you. Look for a woman with silver hair."

As you arrive at the manor one of the Baronesses servants leads you into a sitting room where Baroness Origena Devy arrives soon after.

"I hear you've managed to solve the mystery of what happened last night" she says. Her servant asks you if anyone would like any refreshments before Lady Devy continues.

"So, what happened to our Witches Tower? Was Hunclay involved?"

"It is the kobolds that concerns me." the Baroness replies. "I've been suspicious of them for a while now but they've never caused us any problems in the past. Times have changed though, I want you to drive the kobolds out of the region.
Killing the chieftain would be one way to do it, but I'll leave it to you to determine how best to uproot the tribe. So long as you drive off the pests I have a dozen amethysts I can pay you with."

Using appraise Ragnar can value the amethysts at 100gp each in value.

"As for Hunclay, his death has has ended his involvement in whatever this is. I'd like you to stay away from his manor."

Corin knows that the Devy family descends from Sir Arkold Devy who was rewarded by the Grand Prince for his assistance in putting down the Cantleclure rebellion around 100 years ago. Lady Origena is the current head of the house and is a competent ruler and follower of Abadar. Her son, Arnholde Devy is the heir to the barony.

“Today’s your lucky day. Mulle and Hodd here can’t handle this without the Sheriff to hold their hands, and I want to know what happened here. You seem to be a capable bunch. If you go in there and look through the rubble — find out what happened and why there are kobolds in my town — I’ll pay the lot of you 500 gold pieces. While you’re looking around in the ruins, keep an eye out for any signs of our local eccentric, Hunclay. It seems somewhat suspicious to me that he’s not answering his door. Let me know what you find.”

"Yes, if your investigations lead to further work I may be able to offer it to you and if you find anything valuable in there you are free to keep it.

"Be careful though, my fool husband lost his life poking around in that damn tower, I'd begun to think of it as his memorial. I'm not surprised that it fell though, Hunclay has long been pestering me to sell him the tower so that he can knock it down and his absence in the crowd here is suspicious."
