There's nothing I could have done about the fireball. Sorry Drago, the best laid plans don't stand a chance against a DM with a caster. =P

Mortimus's motivation for potential party betrayal is ash now so he's happy to go home and practice his necromancy.

Not really sure what we're supposed to do from here. Into the pit?

Mortimus stops grimacing long enough to study the bracers.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Mortimus is intrigued by what power over undeath such a conjunction might allow, but is too weak and haggard to pursue such interests. Instead he simply leans on his skeleton and waits to see what Drago has planned.

Mortimus sags under the sudden weight of his armor. He barks an order at his skeleton to help support him and gestures towards the pit. "Who was that woman and what's this hole?"

That'll do!

That hurt. Drago, you got some magic missiles?

Mortimus groans as the shadow’s touch drains away a bit of his strength. Brandishing the wand, he reaches out to touch the shadow.

Touch: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 6 - 1 = 16
Positive Energy Damage: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (6, 8) + 3 = 17

Mortimus gestures beckons with dark power once again. "Obey!"

Mortimus glares at the woman that dares give him orders, but recognizes the wisdom in her words. He holds his unholy symbol aloft and calls to the two shadows. "Obey!"

Bugbear: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Mortimus: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Full damage for everyone!

Mortimus howls in pain as the flames blacken his flesh and burns the bugbear to ash. The stares in disbelief for a moment. Let no one ever say I didn’t do everything in my power to fulfill an agreement.

The disfigured priest gestures for the ogre to attack before narrowing his hateful gaze on the mage and chanting a spell. Blindness DC 16

Afterward he moves back around the corner. The skeleton should be squeezing on the L22-23 ledge.

Seeing his newest minions turned to ash before his eyes earns a frustrated glare from Mortimus. He loosens the length of spiked chain from his waist and moves closer to his champion (M19). He channels dark power to mend his damaged minion.

Channel to Heal: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5) = 16

The ogre skeleton barrels through the cloud of ash and lunges at the other drow for a bite.

Bite with bull’s strength: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Mortimus raises a brow and glances back at Drago. ”I hope you’re not overly fond of this brother.”

With a barked command, the Kuthite sends his minions after the drow on the party’s flank.

Gravechill Skeleton vs Drow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Skeleton vs Drow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

On the lesser undead’s heels comes the huge bloody ogre skeleton, empowered further by Nicatha’s magic.

Claw plus Bull’s Strength: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

”If he was the one that raised these frozen skeletons, his magic will be powerful. Keep him off balance”, Mortimus warns as he preemptively touches the half-drow with a minor blessing granting her the resilience of the dead. Grave touch. Nicatha counts as undead for a couple rounds.

Assuming single file: Little Skeletons, Big Skeleton, Zombie, Mortimus, Ylrhea, Drago, Nicatha.

Mortimus waits for the treasure to be gathered and then gestures toward the caverns.

”Show us.”

Bah!

Mortimus gestures for his new skeletons to approach so that he can study them.

”Interesting. Enchanted with an aura of frost. I’d very much like to meet the one that created you”, he says to the mindless undead. ”Is he here? Can you show him to us?”

Can skeletons speak?

Mortimus hisses as the cold sears his scarred flesh. He sends his minions after the remaining hostile undead.

Mortimus withdraws and gestures for the ogre to deal with the nuisance.

Claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

If the skeleton doesn't finish the job, the zombie will give it a shot.

Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Mortimus enters the room and laughs. "Look at the beast I've bent to my will. What chance do you have? Obey me!"

Command Undead DC 14

Finding the decor in this chamber to be much more to his liking, Mortimus studies it while Nicatha sweeps it for magic.

Mortimus gestures for the giant skeleton to open the iron door.

Mortimus grumbles at the situation but recognizes that there's no other way. He commands he minions to enter the sludge-filled chapel and follows behind them.

Mortimus scoffs. ”A shrine to the god of battle. It’s no wonder the place is in such disrepair.”

I haven’t checked out the map but if the chest is in range, Mortimus will sweep the room with detect magic.

Mortimus wrinkles his nose at the condition of the chapel. "It's filthy."

Religion to identify who the chapel is dedicated to: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

"Snap out of it", the Kuthite chides as he restrains Nicatha. "There's no way the dark elf's pathetic magic could hold anyone for long."

Mortimus will delight in the act. >=)

Yup. I've got the sheet updated now. There's still an amulet of natural armor +1 and cloak of resistance +1 floating around if either of the ladies want them.

Ah, I suppose I should update the loot sheet again.

Not terribly interested in trying to climb down at the moment, Mortimus gathers his minions and heads northeast.

I think this is the first enchanted cloak we've found.

"Perhaps but this one is enchanted", Mortimus explains.

After commanding it to be still, the Kuthite slips the enchanted ring onto one of the skeleton's bony digits. Nabbing the ring +1.

"Take what you will. There's more of this place to explore."

Was there more to the south?

Oh. Carry on then.

I'm suddenly missing Skaar. =(

Any magic detected?

Mortimus laughs as the drow woman crumbles to the ground. "Illusion and enchantment - the magic of weak fools."

The disfigured priest sweeps the room, searching for magical auras.

Detecting magic.

Mortimus commands the skeleton to continue its assault on the elusive target.

Claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

Damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Mortimus would like to have the skeleton move across the bottom half of the room back and forth until he's run out of movement or he runs into an invisible person.

Attacking individual squares would take forever that's why my initial suggestion was to have him move around until he ran into her.

Mortimus directs his skeleton to maul the area the drow is hiding in.

Claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 93

And poor Skaar is missing the cat fight.

Can Mortimus command the ogre skeleton to stomp around in that corner until it figures out what square she's in?

Channel is 30 feet right?. She's within it.

Can Mortimus use the nearby drow corpse to create a Relentless Zombie.

Mortimus scowls at the magics attempting to cloud his thoughts. ”We had no such arrangement and your attempts to convince me otherwise are poor.”

”Kill her”, he says coldly as he gestures to his minions.

Zombie Charge: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 20

Mortimus has the bugbear lead the way south.

Oh you kids.

The bugbear attacks again.

Slam with flank: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 2 = 27
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Mortimus holds his holy symbol aloft. "Dark Lord, show this pitful creature suffering..."
