Mortimer delays when the gnome cries out telepathically. He glances briefly over his shoulder beyond the gnome toward the source of the acid arrow.
What the… I wonder, do these stupid dragons even know that they are the wrong kind of worm for this age? 'Necro…zyte'. 'Necro' -- are they necromancer types – like that gaunt man in the Diamond Lake Observatory probably was? Like him, are these dragons also Abusers of the Dead, or Abused Undead themselves, or both?
Mortimer ponders as he double fly-moves to get into what he thinks will be a better position.
In any event, they both gotta go.

Mortimer, activates The Lightning Sword’s (companion to the Sword of Aaqa) fly ability.
”Whoosh.”
Hey, Sol, he says through the telepathic bond as he flies up to her. Do you still have the Sword of Aaqa? Maybe we should wake her with a sonic boom then scatter! Or... maybe I should just go up there and stab it in the head!
Moved on map. I think I can be there? Forgot where I started.
When the gnome welcomes the spriggan into the inner circle, Gazzilfek does his best to comply.
Are we somehow in the same space as this filthy spirggan? Why do I feel the need to scrub my soul?

Mortimer listens to the wizened half elf express his thoughts.. ”I’m guessing if we wander around here we’ll run into her soon enough – but I wonder why she’s in here, and not out there with the other dragons. Is she not up for the greater battle out there?”
He smacks his lips together lightly when Ascaria casts Protection from Energy. What is that? Like… cinna...mint…? And it smells like mhyrr now. Weird. I like it.
He carries himself slightly taller and moves along with the others taking smallish steps so as not to make anyone feel rushed.
Mortimer tries to crouch while holding hands and walking in the darkness.
It’s a fireplace. Sure, for giants. But how tall could the 'ceiling' be?
Ascaria wrote:

The emotion conjured by the odor of the room ...Feathers...I hope s/he's being well fed..., renders Mortimer oblivious to the gnome’s casual and diplomatic attempt to cast him as someone who is a real challenge to giantkind. He studies the gym the way a young child might window shop in front of a candy shop.
His eyes grow wide and he points in astonishment to an enormous yellow wooden dummy.
”Hey!” he blurts out excitedly ”Is that actually a ‘Duff-kickin’ 6000™’?” If allowed he’ll wander over to it for a closer look. ”Nice! It is! I’ve always wanted one of these for my studio -- when it is built.” Much impressed. he stands with arms folded looking up at it, green with envy.
Mortimer shrugs and follows the others following the Spriggan though the chaos, staying close to Eidi.

"Look! -- is that an old green dragon stalking us to the north?" Mortimer mutters under his breath.
When they get to the fireplace, the plan slowly makes its way to Mort's brain. "Wait, we're making a humanoid chain?!"
Mortimer rolls his eyes and awkwardly grabs Eidi's hand ("Sorry!"). He is resigned to be pulled into the darkness by whoever is holding his other hand, or Eidi's other hand.
”Oh, I see – it is a Spriggan Spaniel. He could fetch his own teeth if he wanted. Surely he’s not just here to beg us to beg him to show us the way. What are you going to get out of it, little guy – leading us to Kongen Thulnir? Did you tire of Zeech’s bloated sense of self importance, or did he tire of yours and cast you out?”
Mortimer sizes up the doors. ”You know, if we had a thin sheet of adamantine – thin enough to slide between the doors, we could just slide it up and knock the bars that bar the doors out of place.” He kills time studying the doors a few seconds more, then sighs dejectedly when no one produces a thin sheet of adamantine. ”But sure. I guess I can just knock.”
BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!
He falls back a bit waiting to see what shall respond.
Mortimer follows slightly behind the elder Eidi ready to catch Eidi should Eidi stumble and crack his fragile old skull on a zephyr.
Ascaria wrote:

Mortimer watches in outrage as the gnome quietly disappears alone – and with no beer proffered! ”Oh, no hey – not this again.” He turns and beholds his companions who – like himself – stubbornly remain in view. . ”Er… Ascaria?’ He address the empty space previously occupied by the gnome with concern. ”You forgot something?!”
Eidi’s demeanor and words assuage him a tiny bit and a thought dawns upon Mortimer. Oh – somehow the little guy is on the other side of the door… Did we know he could do that?! He anxiously but quietly waits trying not to chew his lower lip.
It has been a long time since Mortimer has thought. Now in the break of battle he decides, it may be time. Dragons to the left, Giants to the right, what is a group of Outcasts to do?
He fixes his gaze upon the motley crew of giants and wags his finger in warning at them, then points down towards the mist where surely a pile of dead, stunned and/or shaken dragons flounder.

Mortimer sees Eidi maneuvering his hands like a puppeteer and muttering while a strange feeling overcomes him.

Instead of watching it fall some 35 feet short of the dragon and plummet to find the kiss thrown by the spriggan, he points to the Blue’s head and makes a “blowing up” gesture.
He starts a boxing bob with his fists up facing the feral Blues.
The blue coming from the east towards the Round House swoops down on the eastern most hill giant, its great teeth gnashing at the exposed flesh, hoping to find purchase during a Fly-By!
Mortimer folds his arms across his chest and looks very off-put.
Yo, over here, eh?

He starts heading for the Hill Giants, but not too far ahead of the blind Ascaria.
Solrisa steps forward 5’, raises Rae of Light and shoots at the nearest blue.
Mortimer waves at the blue dragon(s), staying in front of Eidi and Ascaria in the hopes of intercepting attacks upon them. Intention is to provoke the dragons.
Be with me my friends, know those spriggans are usually of chaotic and evil nature, so let's not trust this one easily.
Chaotic AND evil?! I don’t want to trust him at all!
Mortimer shakes his head at Gazzilfek and his sudden bulk up, wondering why the display should warrant any trust at all. He shrugs, clearly unimpressed. I bet lots of things can do that.
”What vision? How’d you get here?” he challenges, looking around expecting to see the clouds part to reveal a spriggan portal. ”What exactly led you to us, and why?!”
He probably wants to take us to his Thane now, or something, he thinks at his companions.
”Maybe we should walk and talk?” he says, also pointing to where Ascaria is pointing. "Didn't the vision mention that we are in the process of collecting heads?"
"Ah, yeah, I wanted to warn you, if you have not Tres Sangres Cake to offer, better prepare for some acid!"
Cake? Oh no, was someone supposed to bring cake? Where’s the cake?! Did I mess up? Was I supposed to bring cake?! Mortimer’s stomach growls. The magic of Holy Aura falls upon him. OMG. Angel food! Ascaria brought it!
”Thank you! Light and fluffy!” He gloats, pummeling the Green trying to squash Ascaria. ”Where’s your cake?!” He tries not to hit the head too much, aiming more for the jaw and neck.

Mortimer waves to the Giant before addressing Sol.
"No, Sol, no -- remember?" He reminds her, "We've just come to destroy the Dragon's precious Thing, not fight Giants. If we do that -- every dragon in this valley will surely feel that tremendous loss and lose their will to fight!"
He looks at the Giant. "We're not here to fight Giants. We're here to destory Dragotha's precious -- whatchamacallit -- Thing."
Ascaria will move back, suspecting he’s within range of the hydra. He ‘attacks’ the wall with his new mace to make himself visible.
Ahhhhh-haa... So Ascaria's right there?! So where's Sol and Eidi? Mortimer pauses in thought invisibly now that the gnome is visible, waiting to see what will transpire. ... and doesn't he mean "pyrohydra"? Mortimer peeks at the pyrohyda to get a good look.
He breathes a sigh of relief when Eidi speaks and ends the invisibilty sphere. He steps into what passes as an antechamber.
"He means pyrohydra... so that's a pyrohydra?" Mortimer nods, pursing his lips. "Impressive."
Mortimer opens his mouth to speak, but then remembers that it is not a skill in which he is particularly gifted. He looks to the others for their reactions, but sees nothing.
I hate being invisible.
Nonetheless he sticks by the party and quietly reaches into his pack to pull out a thunderstone in case another need for chaos arises.

No, not the cookies! NOT THE COOKIES! S+**. We don't have any cheese either, right!?!? Nope. No cheese, no cookies.
Mortimer struggles successfully in keeping silent. Only the flush on his face reveals his effort.
Maybe it IS good we're invisible.

"I'm fine leaving the rest."
Mortimer points downwards at Eidi's question, and if everyone concurs when they are ready he'll try and pop open the next trap door.

He looks about the citadel roof. "Maybe we should work our way down as far as this goes, see if we can use some kind of magic to detect The Thing. If it works, we deal with the guards guarding It, away from the main fray. It'll distract the dragons away from us, at least until we can destroy The Thing."
He searches the dead Fire Giant in search of a clue as to who these giants are, via holy symbol or other possessions, as well as a way inside.
Damsk or no Damsk, I don't really want to go back to ZeechTown. That stupid monument. Those evil angel things... Ugh.
Mortimer groans quietly as they take off for Alhaster, and tries not to breath the rank air once they arrive.
How does anyone keep an appetite around here?
He does not partake of second breakfast, though does accept a hoppy ale if offered so as not to appear rude. He glances at Ascaria, and when Ascaria gives the green nod, he immediately proceeds to nurse the brew.
Eidi wrote:
"Oh it is fine Damsk, it is great to remember a good story"
Mortimer smiles once or twice and nods, fondly remembering as Eidi tells the tale of the Birthday Debacle, the outrageous gifts, and how much fun they had having a good time at the Evil Leader's expense.
