Nevertheless, he steps 5 feet down and to the left into the Grease and attempts yet another overhead slam. He rummages through the pile with all speed and pulls out his weapon, then steps 5 feet towards the scorpion that attacked him. "Good choice, Okhosa, lad," he booms, swinging his ancestral weapon over his head and down at the creature. "Not every dwarf carries a Longhammer!"
Okay, first, if these are aquatic I get +1 to attacks and +2 Dodge to AC. Second, I must post from my iPod until the computer starts working again, so help with moving Morgrym would be appreciated from anyone if it's not too much trouble. Thanks to Mikail for doing it first.

![]() Morgrym too wishes the cook could and would make something closer to edible. But he endured such food and worse when his family splurged for some useless trinket, rationalizing, but eventually selling it back at a loss. Sighing for the umpteenth time, he grabs the slippery chunk of meat, biting down with force. His teeth encounter resistance on a bone and he chokes slightly. But he regains control and bites down again with even more force, snapping the bone. Another, louder crack signifies another chipped or broken tooth, courtesy of whatever animal this used to be. On his cramped bench, Morgrym mulls over his experience on the Jenevire. Cramped, musty, with meals like this every time. "...And I wish that gnome would shut up," he mumbles, almost unaware he started speaking aloud. It's not like most people would care. The Jenevire was full of oddballs, and most of Morgrym's shipmates agreed with him on most of these counts anyway. "...And could someone tell me, why's that bookish weirdo always gettin' a bench to 'erself?" Mebee th' cap'n's in love with her after all. Fer some reason. And if, one more time..." Morgrym comes out of his reverie when his stomach lurches mightily, causing even his dwarven sense to go into turmoil. He rushes out of the galley to the side of the ship. You had better be joking with us: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 +2 against a poison, of course "An' of course, that has ta happen every night. Looks as if they've found the perfect way to kill a dwarf." Morgrym wipes his mouth and ambles back into the galley to find his friends Okhosa and Varya. ![]()

![]() Okhosa, I think that's basically how I would act to most everyone. I mean, he'd probably respect Mikail for his methods, but that's not going to mean he'll pal up to him. He might jeer at Varya and Okhosa's way of doing things, but he respects a warrior, and he wouldn't like them any less for it. Really, being jealous that the knight in shining armor is getting more attention and doing menial labor (or being very jealous at all) is against his values. Actually, I thought of a Morgrym/Varya tactic against single (especially evil) enemies. I can't find a lot of common ground with Dragolan though, any thoughts? ![]()

![]() Reporting for duty! Thank you for your support, and looking over your voting discussion, you had some reasons I definitely did not think of. Edit: Something's wrong, my profile lost my traits, feats, and skills. I should have them back shortly. ![]()
![]() Arright, my vote is ready: Martial: St. John Smythe - I like this guy, he's nice and flavorful with a way of looking at things that could prove very interesting. Divine: Lhinneth - Powerful and versatile, with a background I'd expect from a Calistrian priest but both less and more twisty than one would think. Arcane: Marik Whitethrone - Very creepy with plenty of potential for cool twists in the future. The dreaming part I loved. Skill: Felix - I had him tied with Zuwena with no idea how to choose, and Zuwena bowed out. Seriously, though, the mark of a skillmonkey is versatility, and Felix had definitely got it. ![]()
![]() Gaah...I had to go to school and now so many people have voted and I haven't submitted yet. I think I'll do one for in character and one for out, anyway.
Out of Character:
Morgrym is a steadfast guy who can take hits for you while he wrecks faces. He's versatile, though not very optimized (seriously, among the melee fighters, there were very few 18's and that was surprising), but still able to do what he does best.
Well, I guess there wasn't too much to be said out of character. But read on.... In Character:
The dwarf clears his throat, and begins booming loudly. While he doesn't talk much, he knows a thing or two about boasting. Why should you recruit me for this job, you ask? Because I'm the best, that's why! You'll be thankin' he when me life's on the line, the front line that is, and I'm taking hits for ya! I know a thing or two about sailing a ship, I'll see plenty of things most can't! And let's face it, I can drink any man to his grave, which is exactly what I do in a fight. Bet you've ne'er seen that before, eh? There'll be no shortage of good ale on any ship I'm aboard! Sigh, I don't feel like that went to well, but maybe it's just me. My votes will be here shortly. ![]()

Assorted replies:
1. Sorry, I forgot about that until past 10:30, which is when the Internet shuts off for the night. Anyway, Morgrym's personal deity is the mighty Trudd, who he believes is the perfect combination of strength, honor, and not being a stick in the mud. His parents and the rest of the family worshipped the whole Dwarven pantheon, though mostly Torag. In fact, they tried to enchant Morgrym into converting, which made him pretty angry by the time the spell broke.
2. I haven't found any thus far. I'd bet there is one lurking in that handy guide to traits, but I prefer to stick to material I have and know most of the time. Unless you want me to find one. Wait, actually, I've been thinking and I'll try and find one. 3. Yes, I did take Saltbeard. Funny thing, though, not only did I not actually take Sea Reaver, but I never noticed until now that his title was an archetype. I took Drunken Brute and Invulnerable Rager, mostly for dwarven flavor (that Raging Drunk ability I like too), but to be honest they are not really linked up to my background. I think a good goal for him is to become a paragon of dwarvenkind without all the cavil, so I think that would fit nicely. 4. Thank you very much! If there is anything more specific I should change, please tell me (or not, actually, if you think it would give my submission an unfair advantage). I'm already thinking of taking off one of my traits and exchanging it for a more flavorful one of I find it. ![]()
![]() Fluff:
There are honorable, honest dwarves, and then there are the dregs of dwarvenkind. Perhaps unbeknownst to the higher castes of dwarves, these dregs still maintain as much honor as can be had in their environment, and Morgrym Seareaver is no exception. In fact, his family was a branch of noble envoys sent to the Shackles, now their home, shortly after it was passed over by Cheliax. They lived a mixed life around the strange native goblinloids, making trade and war. But when the pirates descended on the Shackles, many non-humans were shunted to the bottom of the heap.
Morgrym's family and closer ancestors never forgot their formal noble stations, even if they had been born in the squalid hovel the family now shared. Even with the common sense of dwarves, they frittered away their gold on decadent things, failed to eat for some time, and were forced to sell it back at a loss. Morgrym's family name (which has been forgotten since his parents' deaths and his adoption of the honorific "Seareaver") would have died out if not for the cleric in the family who could create food. Needless to say, this behavior irked Morgrym to no end. When he finally reached the end of the rope, he left in the night, taking with him his his gear, his training, his simmering rage, always close to surface, and several pints of fine ale. When news came that he had become an adventuring, wandering mercenary, the shock was too much for his parents, who slowly wasted away until they lost the will to live. The Jenevire is Morgrym's fourth cargo-protection job, and the first one to become a disaster. Appearance and Personality: Morgrym is a stout dwarf, almost always in his armor with his hammer and axe strapped to his back. His hair is a rusty reddish-brown, his skin tanned from the sun. Like his family before him, he has a sense of honor, but it is often superseded by his common sense. Unlike many barbarians, he is slow to anger and has a slightly more tactical mind, but when angered, he becomes terrifying. He does not speak much, usually only to ask or answer a question, respond, or shout a warning (if that). ![]()
