I would apply with a character from a failed invasion arc.
A human hunter.
Nothing fancy, just a regular Bowranger with his grizzly companion!

This would be very sad for me as I live in germany.

Giving spot the get it command Morde just grabs his bow and quiver and
asks for the Focus of the bat, getting darkvision.
SpotPerc: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 2 = 11
Waking up Spot quickly sniffs the air and moves quite purposefully towards the hobgoblin female.

Morde smiles a sad smile and adds."I hope Spot will find the culprit when he attacks next time!"

"We can do so. But alas, I am not sure it would solve our problem!"

Morde ponders for a moment.

Spot moves toward the next crossbowman after Morde sends an arrow in his direction.

Morde takes a step closer and shoots at the ogre.

And with a whistle his companion charges forward.

Morde shrugs. "Shouldn´t be more than one sergeant and maybe a low officer with them!"

Looking down Morde scratches his beard, already a bit unruly, and replies.[b]"Take the back. That way they can´t bolt forward! We will take care quickly of the Vanguard and then dispatch the backguard.

Morde looks at the others and nods.
"Tonight it is!"

Morde shakes his head for a moment. "I doubt this trick will work again. They are just to many. We should leave asap."

"Sounds good. We seek a we do not bother you, you do not bother us agreement!"

Morde and his friends join in the run.

Following the others Morde carefully selects a good path towards the hatch.

Morde gives the Bird one shot.

Directing Spot towards the other trog.

Taking another arrow Mordecai shoots it, too.

Morde attacks the one that hit Spot and orders Spot to attack.

Morde would take another potion of cure light wounds and a potion of bears endurance for, surprise, spot the bear.

"Well now we should move out and find the lizardmen!"
Morde says after the breakfast.

Looking at Filon Morde replies.
"He did his share of killing the boar and then some. Also, he ate what no one else would eat. So please, keep your peace."

Morde enjoys the roasted boar and also takes care that Spot does get his share.

"Well it will make a good meal tonight and then we can dryroast the rest for the next few days!"

With a smile Morde seeks a sturdy branch and hacks it off.
Expertly he binds the boars legs so that he can be easely carried back to the camp.
Looking at the ring he sighs and looks at Betto and Radok.
"Makes more sense if one of you takes it!"

Morde smiles at Izithrael and replies.
"It would be magic well spent! But if you manage to find another way I will aid you."

Morde quickly stops Betto.
"In his hole he is hard to get. BEtter to get him out. And beware of him charging!"
Morde ponders for a moment then continues.
"We could use fire to lure him out. Least I can do is use a fire arrow!"

Morde searches for clues.

Nope, Morde prefers light armor. Breastplate would reduce his skills and doesn´t give that much more ac. Mithril on the other hand....

If we rescue his family we have more mouths to feed. And it is hard enough as it is.
Quickly working with some long poles Morde makes a makeshift towing device and puts it on Spot, so that they can tow all the supplies gathered.

Moving over Morde quickly casts a healing dweomer on the lumberjack.
CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

With another fury of tooth and claw spot crushes the bugbears head to bloody pulp before returning to his master, a piece of flesh still in his mouth, ready to eat.
"Well, it seems they didn´t run far. Quick, let us gather what we can and need and depart again!"

Spot moves a step closer into flanking and gives the bugbear the good old tooth claw claw pain.
