::The second hardest part is taking off. The hardest part is landing. Almost everyone gets some bumps and bruises from their first attempts at landing. But once you're airborne it's actually pretty intuitive. To take off you have to move both of your wings together with as much force as you can. It helps to use your back legs to helps you get lift off the ground. It's not uncommon to need a running start when you're first learning how to do it...::

[Insert further flying instructions here] ;P

it takes a suprizingly short time. Once he starts getting confident, the whole thing becomes fluid. He's got the whole thing almost prefect by the end, and lands nearly perfectly. It seems all of how to work his body is in his head already, if he'd stop being so nervous.

"Flying lessons would be nice, honestly. This is already my second form with wings, and bumbling about isn't any fun."

Male Sapphire Dragon

"I'm a sapphire dragon."
he says bluntly.
"... Don't ask how I knew that, I don't know. And I started learning to fly when I was a pseudodragon. It was the best thing about the form."

::You have nothing to fear from me, Marcell. I'm sure you've heard stories, but the reality is never that simple. What I can promise you is that I do not harm children. Not ever. You are safe here.::

::Now,:: she said, moving her wings up and out, ::try spreading your wings up and out like this. You need to get used to moving these muscles. I believe Professor Zix said you had taken the form of a pseudodragon before. This works on the same general principle as what you experienced then. It's just that because you are larger you have less room for error without knocking people over.::

Marcell quietly mimics the movement. He gets a hold of it rather quickly, his motions becoming a lot more fluid the less he overthinks it. He's still shaking, but slowly calming down.

Male Sapphire Dragon

marcell nods, watching Ryleh quietly. Badly hiding how much he's shivering.

Male Sapphire Dragon

Marcell just blinks, and doesn't say anything.

Male Sapphire Dragon

marcell shakes his head.
"Go right ahead."

he's shivering badly, both because he's still kinda afraid of dragons and having his worldview challanged by his own body, and because he thinks he's going to get in trouble.
Ryleh easily deflects the wing and listens to the clearly frightened explanation silently. "I take it that this is a recent change? This is not your usual form? It's alright. You're not in trouble. I am simply trying to assist you," she said in the same calm, quiet voice she had used to ask his name. "Here," she added, gently grabbing a wing and showing him how to fold it in close. "Like this. It will make it much easier to get around. Don't fight with your tail. It's there to help you balance. If you curl it around your feet you're only going to trip. Hatchlings always do that."

marcell does as he's told.

"I don't have a normal form, anymore. I end up in a new one every day. It's a pain."
he moves around a bit, quickly finding things much easier.

Male Sapphire Dragon

there's a loud sound of things plates and various silverware falling to the ground, as a kid gets smacked by a rather large wing.
"Sorrysorrysorry!"
the dragon rapidly aplogizes, stumbling back and knocking over a table. He helps and darts off to a corner, knocking over five more kids in the process, before he curls up and shivers, all sorts of not OK with what's going on. The symbol on his back glows rather brightly, a stark contrast to his cowering behavior.

Zix frowns :: you are relying too much on raw power and not enough on the structure of the spell, it needs to be rigid, remember this is pure magical force, you don't have to worry about the crumpling cushion metallic armor requires, utilize the full strength of the magic you place into the spell. That said this is rather impressive for a first go at the spell. Most people have an easier time with evocations of in some cases illusions, as the key to lower level evocations is the visualization of the effect, and most people have a rather easy time picturing a wave of fire coming from their hands:: his mental voice is tinged with amused derision. ::visualizing a ward and the interlocking structure within it and then maintaining that visual for a neigh invisible shield is hard for most neophytes. That being said, your shield is distorting too much, a sign that parts of it are fighting other parts and he resonance can be spotted with the naked eye. Now then for practice I want you to try to correct that visual and hold the spell for as long as possible.:: he says and opens a drawr on his desk with three counterclockwise twists on the nob and pulls out a pocket watch to hand it to him.

Marcell takes the pocketwatch, and tries the spell again, visualizing an interlocking network of magic... And ends up putting even more magic into the spell, causing it to crystallize into a somewhat clear crystal shield, floating in the air. Marcell is just poaring magic into the shield as he starts the timer, flooding as much magic into this simple, trivial spell as most mage's would do for spells like finger of death or disintigrate yet he doesn't look even remotely phased, as he simply keeps holding the spell.

Marcell eagerly fetches the book.

"I've been reading up on abjuration. I think I can grt this right..."
Marcell mumbles the words, and a shield springs into existance- visible, unlike the normal spell, looking like foggy glass. In reality, it is quite possibly the most inefficient shield spell ever cast, composed of nothing but a massive amount of magical energy, held so densely as to slow objects. Marcell smiles And throws his hands up.
"Yes! It worked!"
dispite the amount if magic he just put into the spell, he doesn't seem phased.
