Update with an ETA?

Update with an ETA? How many color matching samples are we up to now?

Are there any updates on an ETA?

Yep, I'm ready to pull the trigger on the replacements as soon as they are ready. Do we have an ETA Vic?

Where will the replacement card availability be announced besides here in this thread? Anyway to subscribe to get an email when this finally becomes order-able?

Vic,

So where are we at now with a schedule for being able to order updated cards for ROTR? Was this waiting for S&S to go to the printer?

Over five months now since this thread started? Any closer to an ETA?

I have not come to that conclusion—but if you read this thread, that's clearly what some people want.

I personally think it's a terrible idea, as it would require us to put 37 copies of Blessing of the Gods into the replacement deck, which will about double the cost of it.

Unfortunately, DriveThru does not have the ability to let you pick-and-choose what goes in your deck.

Does DriveThru give you the ability to present two options to customers?

a) all replacement cards except Blessing of the Gods
b) replacement Blessing of the Gods cards

Any chance you might finally have an ETA?

Almost 20 weeks now since the replacement card idea was floated - any sort of ETA for when we can order these?

Also, any chance folks will be able to order the revised rulebook printed out?

Any chance an updated rulebook could be purchased from Paizo? And/or will these find their way into later printings?

We're at 16 weeks now since this thread was started. Is the time issue still one of performing QA on the production of the cards? Or are there concerns over more errata yet to come as the final packs come out?

Any updates on when these replacement cards might be ready for ordering?

Vic,

Any closer to having an ETA?

Tomorrow it will be 8 weeks since this thread was created. Any updates on an ETA for the updated PDF or POD errata cards?

Any estimate yet for either an updated rule book or the POD cards?

That's quite extreme - there are not that many cards which are broken and the rules are fairly simple once you've got your head around a couple of key concepts (which are mainly laid out in the FAQ and Mike's recently stickied post).

There's also the Turn Sequence breakdown which people have found useful:
http://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/95118/turn-sequence-breakdown

The updated cards would be great to have, but I don't think it's so bad as-is that you need to shelve the game!

My group has plenty of games going, so really we put it down a few weeks ago in the middle of all of the forum activity. And once we knew new cards were coming and a rules refresh was on the way, why pick it back up now?

Loved one of the turn sequence docs on BGG - it will surely have a spot on the table when we get back to PACG. But the game really got off on the wrong foot for our group and everyone is in agreement here not to revisit it until the dust is settled (done) and we have new cards and rulebook in hand (waiting).

No biggy.
Matt

I've already scanned the cards in, fixed the text (and art where necessary when traits changed), printed, cut slightly smaller than card size, and inserted over cards (sleeved). I play with enough different people that I had no interest in repeatedly explaining changes - and I wasn't going to mark up cards with a pen.

But I'm definitely not happy with the look or quality of my replacements - scans didn't turn out great, colors are meh, and the small text not so clear. So...

1. I would prefer print-on-demand cards.

2: I would rather pay something like $8 (plus shipping) for every little change.

When you talk about dividers - do you mean like the Thunderstone game? I bought the first few of those and didnt find them as easy to use as the insert for this game, personally (I'm one who is hoping Paizo continue as is for future 'base sets'). With Thunderstone, I found the different packs kind of merged despite the card dividers and it wasnt so easy to grab a specific 'pack' with one hand quickly. This became especially true as I added extra expansions. Given I frequently have to draw random cards from the box in this game (in contrast to Thunderstone, I think? It's been a while) I'm not sure the same solution would be right for both games.

Did the thunderstone card dividers get better as they released more expansions? (Or are you talking about something else maybe?)

I have not seen this in person, but a quick Google search for pics of the box of Thunderstone Advanced came up with this one image.

Picture

Lots of preprinted dividers and foam to help support those cards.

Thunderstone Advanced is easily the "most accommodating" insert/setup I've seen.

I say for future Basic boxes, have the whole box slotted and each slot able to hold 50-75 cards that you can customize to what you need, (no matter the card type) ...
Frankly, I'd be very frustrated with that box. There are 21 loot cards in RotR, and I don't want to have to put them in a slot where they're flopping around, or a slot where I have to mix them with other cards to keep them from doing so. On the other end of the spectrum, there are several hundred monster cards in the set, and when I have to seed a location with random monsters, I don't want to have to draw them from several different slots. Having them all in one slot means I can set the game up faster, and that means I can move on to the fun part sooner.

I'd just as soon not see "sections" of any size in the slots at all. Just a series of full length slots with really nice labeled card dividers and then everything is separated and quick to grab.

As I mentioned above, I would give the PACG insert an A+ for effort - a lot of thought went into that.

But, I've seen the future and it's the "Thunderstone Advanced" approach with a) labeled card dividers, b) card long slots, and c) foam bricks aplenty. It will fit sleeved cards and easily grows to include expansions, promo cards, etc. It's hard to imagine a solution that would top what AEG has come up with.

I would greatly prefer something akin to a) Thunderstone Advance or b) Sentinels of the Multiverse Enhanced Edition. Both include very nice labeled dividers along with straight runs for card storage. BUT, sadly note in both cases there is not enough room sleeved cards. :(

I agree with you on Sentinels, great job on the dividers, but too narrow for sleeved cards. Just a little wider and it would have been perfect.

I haven't had any issues with the Thunderstone Advance box. Fits my sleeved cards great and with the dividers, it's a breeze to organize.

I only use FFG sleeves and the Thunderstone Advance box insert is a little tight on the sleeves corner-to-corner and I was pretty tight end-to-end with both expansions in.

I actually found the PACG insert to be a wash on speeding up setup for me. With not enough cards to "fill" each section of the insert, my cards were always leaning this way or that. But my general opinion on the PACG insert is A+ - it's rare to find this level of thought go into storage by a company.

I had not planned to sleeve this game, especially considering the lack of shuffling that was necessary. But right off after the first night of playing quite a few games it became apparent the cards were not going to hold up to my satisfaction.

Even Thunderstone Advance, a shuffle-heavy game, heald up for quite awhile before I ended up having to sleeve it. Those cards seemed much more durable than these - I'm not sure why.

So I switched gears, sleeved everything, and replaced the insert with 660 boxes. I also created dividers in the BGG Files section. And now there is room in the box for standups and the playmats.

I'm not interested in metal figures myself. I've made my own pawns and used FFG stands for them.

What I would purchase in an instant would be a single collection of the prepainted minis covering all of the playable characters. I had taken a quick look at grabbing what was available - few (2?) weren't available at all and another few (2?) were rare and had gotten quite expensive so I didn't go that route.
