Since the majority of these cards were corrected in the US printing, the main audience for this product is people who have 1st printings. We worked with DriveThru to come up with a card back that matches the Chinese printing as best we can (given how variable that printing was). DriveThru's card size is closer to the US cards than the Chinese cards, though.

Now that I sleeved the cards (with clear sleeves), I care a lot more for the color of the backs than for the size of the cards. I'm going to be a happy camper!

Sovereign Court

Wow, that's awesome that you guys took that into consideration, I just assumed you guys would want them to match the current look. I didn't even think about you guys considering that the second printing won't even need these nearly as much

I am working on all second printing, so I am going to have issues with the few cards needing replaced in that set. That said, the choice had to be made to match one or the other, and this was absolutely the right call. Great job!

Vic, when did you say those were going to be ready? :)

I didn't, but I will say this:

Last call for RotR errata!

I'm not sure that any of these actually require errata, but since thye are all sort of open questions, I wanted to bring them up in case they do.

Will a PDF be available for those who don't mind printing them and sliding them over the fixed cards in sleeves? Or Only through the Drive through? Not that I mind too much

In the meantime, Hawkmoon has done exactly that on BGG. I currently have that errata printed, cut out, and inserted into clear sleeves.

I would be good either way. Although, I would lean more towards the pdf since I'm cheap.

Have you looked over at BoardGameGeek for the errata PDF file that Hawkmoon has compiled? Really easy to print, cut, insert (into sleeve).

We will make a PDF available.

Vic, will it be a full card layout? (Instead of the style that Hawkmoon produced with the partial card that doesn't cover the artwork.)

Where will the replacement card availability be announced besides here in this thread? Anyway to subscribe to get an email when this finally becomes order-able?

Theryon Stormrune,
The PDF will contain full card images.

MajorHavok,
We don't have a way to subscribe to an email announcement. This thread will be the best place to look, though we'll also add links from the RotR product pages.

Ok this thread is way too much to take in all at once and I've been reading through it over the past week or so. Basically I have one question. How much does this matter to game play? I saw over at BGG Hawkmoon's errata Drop-Ins and started going through a few to spot check them. Some of the cards simply added the word "may do this" instead of "do this" or similar from what I could tell. I saw way way back in the early part of the thread that there were only a few that mattered, but that was posted back in 2013, almost a year ago.

tl;dr - Will this make a significant change to game play if I ignore these fixed cards? If yes, how?

Edit: spelling / grammar

There's a few minor differences (Warhammer +1 doesn't have the 'magic' trait, so if you actually noticed that, you'd be confused whether or not it could kill undead) and some fairly major ones (Detect Magic, a very valuable scouting spell, has a Recharge of 14, not 4). You're right that most of them are just wording clarification, but it's valuable to familiarize yourself with the few that actually change the card's function.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

You're going to have to answer that for yourself.

Some people may care very much about a particular rewording that other people thought was obvious and unneccesary. Many more of the changes are in that category than are in the "we said 14 when we meant 4" category.

Given these two answers, which are good, it would be nice if the PDF indicated whether a change to a card was major or minor or what kind of change it was. I was more or less asking more how many, or what cards, are in that "we said 14 when we meant 4" category.

I'll watch for the PDF. We haven't actually started playing this yet, since I started buying it just a couple of months ago, and the summer has been too hectic to actually sit down to get started with our regular play group.

Pathfinder Card Game Subscriber

This is just my opinion, but here are the "major" errata as I see them.

1. Detect Magic's recharge is 4.
2. Speed can be acquired with Wisdom or Divine and recharged with Divine.
3. Sajan can make a combat check using his dexterity. He can't play weapons. He wants Blessing of Erastil not Blessing of Gorum when he does so.
4. Amulet of Mighty Fists (and the better version of Fiery Fists) add dice to you combat check when you don't play a spell or weapon. Sajan likes them.
5. Bolstering Armor is missing its first power entirely. (Recharge this card to reduce Combat damage dealt to you by 2. You may draw up to 2 cards.)
6. Warhammer +1 (and all weapons with a +X in their name) should have the Magic trait. (It will help you kill Ghosts and stuff.)
7. Anything with the Undead trait is immune to the Mental and Poison traits.
8. If all Zombie Minions are defeated, the Zombie [Horde/Nest] is defeated.
9. Banish Ambush no matter what happens.
10. I don't know...I guess...Blessing of the Gods doesn't recharge when it copies the powers from the top of the blessing discard pile.

You'd probably figure out the Zombie Horde/Nest one even without the errata.

Again just my opinion. But honestly, if you knew about those changes, you'd be fine. And that is coming from the guy that spent all that time making those errata on Board Game Geek. If you just started buying, you are probably getting second printings of the game, so a lot of those are probably already fixed.

We... somehow missed this one. It would've helped Lini when she encountered two Ambushes in the same Waterfront deck.

Hawkmoon's list is a good reference of the major errata. Most of the rest are just FAQ type questions that provide additional clarity, but not significant change. If you are the type to read FAQs, then reading through that and knowing these changes will have you all set.

Hawkmoon269 wrote:

This is a great point that could probably be repeated more often. I have the second printing, so most of the cards I have do not need errata at all. If your box says printed in the US on the back, you have the second printing.

Of course I am still likely to get the erratta decks from drive thru, both printed and pdf, because I am just weird that way...

Grand Lodge

Same here, Greyhawke .... but I may just wait to see what the cost of the printed cards actually is. Right now, I've been printing and cutting and putting Hawkmoon's errata in the sleeves on top of the card text. It's a little awkward with the blessings deck, though.

Pretty much the entire point I was trying to get across in my previous post is that if you ask 10 people, you'll probably get 10 different answers.

Grand Lodge

Vic, will the PDF be posted here and just the available card printing over on DriveThru?

And will this happen prior to GenCon or after? (I'm trying to manage my time before leaving with painting, game organization and PFS stuff.)

Thanks!

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

The PDF will be here, and the cards will be purchasable at DriveThru. At this point, I think it's likely that the card PDF will be up before Gen Con, but the DriveThru version is iffy.

Grand Lodge

Thanks for the update. I know there is a lot going on in the next week and a half before GC.

Any chance you'll put in a bulk order with DriveThru and sell individual sets through the store?

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

Nope. I have realized that a one-set-fits-all approach is not going to work.

Ah, okay. Thanks, vic.

Thanks for everything you've done Hawkmoon, and everyone else who's been involved.

Everything I have -- Base set through Adventure Pack 6, including Add-On Characters pack -- says Printed in China. I know the Base set is 1st Edition based on that, I assume everything else is as well.

Pathfinder Card Game Subscriber

You are welcome. And you are correct, if it says "printed in China" it offs a first printing. So you have an entire first printing.

This kind of sounds like you are saying you are going to go with individual cards for purchase (which DriveThru seems to offer). So each person could pick and choose which errata rose to the level of them wanting a new card.

That would also means whether you have first printing or second printing you can get the errata you need and not the ones you don't

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

Not an individual card level, but at least a few different bundles to pick and choose from.

So any news on the errata files now that GenCon is over? Paizo must be pretty busy shipping products right now. Thank you for continuing to support the game after its release; I'm looking forward to ordering those revised cards and sleeving my decks in the Ultra-Pro Pathfinder Art sleeves.

I've figured out what all the things are. We'll have different packages for people looking to add to their first printing products and for those looking to update their second printing products. Drive-Thru has already color-matched the backs for the 1st printing stuff, and are now just working at color-matching the backs to the 2nd printing, and then we'll be good to go.

Thank you for the update. I posted my request before I found out about some of the post-GenCon issues Paizo is dealing with. I appreciate you taking the time to respond, and look forward to the announcement when the new cards are available on Drive-Thru.

Thanks Vic, that is great we can get them PoD. Will they be available through the Paizo Store or just via DTRPG? Sorry if this was asked before.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

Just through Drive-Thru.

OK thanks, their postage is not too ridiculous to NZ thankfully

Will there be a major announcement when these are good to go? or just an update on this thread?

I'm wondering if color-matching is the only consideration for first edition cards, or if the card size issue is also going to be taken into account?

Pathfinder Card Game Subscriber

Card size probably can't be taken into account, because that would require a new card die be made to cut them, which would be prohibitively expensive. See this post from way back at the beginning of this thread.

Grand Lodge

Any update on when they'll be available? Also, are you submitting some of the S&S and Class Deck changes?

Wondering about this as well...

Would be pretty handy, the only annoying one is Bolstering Armor since it's missing an entire paragraph

Still waiting on color-matching. Sorry!

Any update on this Vic?

What I hope will be the final color-match samples will be arriving soon—maybe even today.

Also, our friends at DriveThru have been working on something awesome, and we may be able to launch it alongside the errata decks, perhaps by the end of the month.
