Macawi patiently waits for the others to decide what they wish to do.
Abstaining from the vote.
Macawi will collect the gold from the tusks (Do I need a roll to find it? How much was there?) and carry it with him if no one objects. As we proceed down the hallway, he will remain in rearguard, as normal.
"Macawi does not mind."
He uses the tip of his sword to separate the tusks and the other bones into different piles.

OK, that's just the dice roller being mean.
I didn't see any dissent to the idea of checking out the burned room. I was expecting us to go that way.
Asim Chigaru wrote: Oops, botched that post, hehe. You can go back and edit as long as you do so within an hour.
Macawi just nods, adjusting his shield to settle it into place. He moves to the door and prepares to open it with his sword hand. He looks back at the others to see if they are ready.
When he gets the word to proceed, he will pull the door open slowly and draw his sword before leaning out to look both ways. If everything is clear, he will step out into the hallway to let the others past.
Macawi will concentrate for a moment to regain his psionic focus and then pick up his shield.

I think the newest of the new are the tabs at the top of the game pages making it easier to link between discussion, game, recruitment threads as well as players and characters.
You might want to check the "how to format your text" spoiler below the edit field to see if they added anything else new while you weren't looking.
The big man bows slightly to the newest team member, Macawi thanks Stonegutter. Can stick heal Macawi more?
I was still disabled at -4, according to the DM, so that fine roll just gets me to 3 hp.
Macawi slides the door open just enough to see the gnome outside, then opens it enough for the fellow to enter, closing it quietly behind him.
"Where is Mala?"
Welcome aboard, Ferret! Glad to have you on the team!
As the footsteps retreat a second time, the tension leaves the big man's shoulders and he sags with exhaustion. He closes his eyes for a moment in concentration, regaining his psionic focus, before looking around the room again. "Macawi failed and is sorry. Did you bring shield of Macawi when you come to new den?" He sniffs and wrinkles his nose. "Empty room smell like blood and orcs. You smell?"
Taking advantage of sweet knowledge roll earlier. I think he might 'know' something without realizing why and associates it with his senses somehow - thus, he 'smells' it this time.

Yeah, I saw that, but I didn't know if that meant he was awake enough to be entitles to the checks. Got my answer, didn't I?
As the big man regains conscious, the pain of his burns obviously slow his movements, but his hands still move to the hilt of his sword - still there, that is good - and start feeling around for his shield. "The shield of Macawi, where is it?"
He slowly and painfully sits up, propping himself against a nearby wall. Seeing the wrestler, he asks, "Garrick is ok? Good." Clearly satisfied with a simple affirmative, he closes his eyes and leans his weight more fully back against the wall.

"Macawi think this not bandit room. No red flags."
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Suddenly his eyes fly open and he waves to the others and signals to be quiet. He points to an ear and then toward the door and he moves to stand up. He will also expend psionic focus to use vigor and gain 5 temporary hit points.
I thought you were keeping track of xp -- did we get any from the two augmented guards or the trap Mala found?
As for what's next, I'll have to leave that to the conscious members of the party.
DM Shisumo wrote: Given the relationship that was building between Marcelina and Tybus (one that I will greatly regret not seeing develop, by the by), I'm not sure that dbauers would fit well into that particular character. ;)
And no, it won't be a TPK. Heck, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to manage to kill any of you!
This time, anyway. ;)
I suppose I could just post a recruitment thread... I hate those things, though. Too many choices, too many people to say no to. (sigh)
I'm in enough games, I could just post to see if anyone's interested in taking on another game...
Gan Liang wrote: Yeah, hopefully you can come back when things are less hectic. Good luck!
As far as a replacement goes, maybe we can have Dbauers take over for Marcelina (or a replacement Character if he doesn't want to use her).
Not sure what to do about the Redoubt, though, but we might possibly have a TPK so it might be moot. :-)
I would be fine with inviting dbauers into our Sandpoint game if the others are willing. As for the Red Redoubt, we'll be lacking a skill monkey without Mala, but while I know a lot of players on the boards, I have no idea who I would suggest as a replacement.
All the best, Atapax. I think it's safe to say we'd be happy to have you come back when you can.
If Mala doesn't post, may I selfishly suggest that she attempts to aid another on the heal check for a certain unconscious half-giant? Just a thought...
I can't make it worse with a bad roll, right? (Rhetorical question, don't bother to answer.)
Unconscious reflex save 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (7) - 5 = 2
Not even if I was upright and ready... I'm now at -9 hp, but I'm not rolling up new yet - I have faith in my teammates!
Macawi's AC without his shield is 16, so that does hit. He has 10 hp currently, so 11 points of damage puts him at -1 unless it has actually been less than a minute and his temp hp are still in effect.
EDIT: My bad - my vigor lasts for 3 minutes, not one. Has it been three minutes, oh kind and generous DM?
DM Shisumo wrote: Weird rules quirk: you could delay your action until after Macawi acts in order to avoid the fire damage. And as soon as Macawi gets you out of range, Sparky's going to heal you, so you're back in the game (albeit prone) basically immediately.
On the other hand, the move out of the skeleton's threatened area will indeed provoke an AoO, and Macawi also suffers 1d6 fire damage from the skeleton's aura. Pausing to double-check that Macawi's willing to take the AoO in order to complete that action before I resolve it.
Macawi will take the AoO - I just was trying to indicate that he was taking whatever defensive options were possible in performing the action. He's not attacking, so fighting defensively doesn't quite seem right...
My temp hp only last a minute, so they have expired. I will indeed be calling them up shortly, but didn't dare wait while you fried.
Macawi will, to the best of his ability, try to drag Garrick back 15' without incurring an AoO. That will use his whole turn, I believe.
Just for reference, can I draw a sword as a free action during the movement associated with a charge?
Since Macawi has not had time to draw his sword or retrieve his shield, I think it makes sense for him to be grabbing the unconscious grappler. If he does, what sort of action will that be? Move action to grab him, move action to move with him, maybe?

The big man moves aside to give Garrick the better position, but tries to help him.

Nice roll, Garrick! Can NOT believe I matched it.
Nodding, Macawi sheathes his sword and leans his shield against the wall of the hall. He places his big hands flat against the door (I'm picturing a flat sliding panel, is that correct?) and leans into it.
Looking at the grappler, he says, "On three? One, two, three."

If necessary, a second attempt: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
LOL, nice.
The half-giant growls in frustration as his footing fails him and then his sweat-slick hands slide across the door.
Drying his hands on his trousers, he tries a third time.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Macawi returns to the hallway when Asim and Mala move to the next door. He will let the others do the exploration and watch for strangers. If need be, he will also activate the light on his wayfinder.
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Macawi leans into the new room to peer around.
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
He points out, "Blood and sword cuts. Someone fight here, not so long ago."
One vote for investigating the other hallway now.
Macawi shakes his head negatively and takes a half-step toward the other hallway.
Macawi looks at the wires doubtfully. "Macawi not very sneaky."
Macawi does not spot the wires, but he can't miss the elf's sudden change of direction. He stops, spreads his arms wide, and brings his shield around in front of her, effectively shielding her from nearly all directions.
"What? What does pretty shaman see?"
Once he realizes that the threat is not an imminent attack, he releases the mage, "Sorry, Macawi thought shaman was attacked." He smiles with his gleaming white teeth, not embarassed in the least.
Seeing the smaller woman starting to work with her tools, he's visibly indecisive. He knows he has no patience or training to help with what she's doing, but his instinct is to move up there to shield her from whatever she's trying to dismantle.
He ends up remaining behind the others, fidgeting and watching over his shoulder for other surprises.

Nobody had a problem with Macawi keeping one of the crossbows, right?
Sylvalia's description of the marching order sounds good to me.
Macawi will take up the tail end position. He'll rely on the others' wayfinders for now, but his is hanging around his neck, also.
Macawi looks to the others for direction.
Macawi pokes the remains of the creature with the tip of his sword.
Hearing Garrick's starting to hum, the big man narrows his eyes and stares at it. "Maybe you smash spider, too. Maybe noise calls to mother spider."
The big man nods and tries to slam his shield down onto the fleeing creature.
Heavy Shield slam attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Macawi will move to intercept the metal spider. "You want Macawi smash spider?"
He will move to block the construct with his shield, trying to herd it back to Mala if possible, since both of his hands are currently holding something.
Macawi looks at Asim impassively.
Macawi steps up behind the Ulfen, holding up a hand to Asim. With both hands on the pommel of his oversized sword, he brings the sword back over his shoulder as to swing through the defiant man, looking at the gunslinger, a question in his eyes.
Macawi waits patiently, sword ready in both hands, behind the metal-men.
@Asim: Quietly, "Macawi hears nothing."
He will move to within striking distance of the two men in case they wake up and cause more violence. While he waits, he will concentrate for a moment to regain psionic focus.
Macawi moves to the door, hovering in Mala's area protectively. When she declares the doors safe, he will take a moment to listen for anyone within.
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
He expresses no opinion on the captives.
Macawi's shopping has been completed. I discovered that he could afford the armor I originally intended to purchase for him, so his AC is a point higher than previously.
Am I correct in my reading of the Armor Expert trait when it says that his ACP is better by one for his armor, that does not impact the ACP for his shield?
Macawi pauses, not sure which one is which. He will forestall his coup d'grace until someone tells him to proceed.
