We are actually having this discussion in my game club.

MrSin - I have seen that faq and while it does indicate that there has been discussion on the topic (over a 1 1/2 years), there is not any official ruling or FAQ.

As the rule stands now, you get multiple stacking benefits. This has big implications in Pathfinder Society Play. There are no "House Rules" and must follow RAW.

I do believe an Official FAQ needs to come out.

Our club does play that the dodge bonus is already against the enemy hit by the attack.

I personally like the mana / power point system better. I wished the power power point system used in expanded psionics handbook, could be used / translated to the magic system, both arcane and divine.

mathematically / mechanically it makes so much more sense. Power and ability IMO can be allocated at will and in whatever level u want until tapped / drained.

The vancian system has always been frustrating in the 20 plus years I've been playing leading to many home variations.

I think the connection to the vancian system's fan base is rooted in tradition and "its been that way forever" mentality. There is no real mechanical reason for it still being there. Tweeks have been made with nearly every aspect of DnD in the name of bettering system. Mention anything about casting levels or Vancian casting and terms like "tradition" and "sacred cows" start coming out. Interesting

Im confused, how does arcane armor training or arcane strike prevent the EK from using its capstone ability?

EK isnt' weaker than a magus.

Much better spell casting ability alot more spells/choice.
Magus doesnt get any blood line or wizard school abilites at all.
The EK at least gets some use of out them.

Although i agree, allowing diverse training to let the EK use full character level for the blood line or school powers should be allowed.

Both Arcane Armor and the Capstone ability need a Swift action to use

oh just moving my old characters over to the current sheet.

The shield bonus isn't appearing in AC.

Inquisitor is proficient in short bow either.

As for comments and notes.

I liked the little "note box" that used to be there in the AC section. I like the additions to the AC box, but with space restrictions I know the note box was cut. it was very useful.

Weapons. I know there isn't right now a way for more weapon box's but I think it might need to be worked. I do like them just need more.
Having a two-weapon fighter takes out half the box's right there.

Gotta say, very nice though as I'm putting my character, very nice indeed.

gotta add about notes to Saves would be great. looks like they were there but ran out of room and cut.

Travel domain doesn't add the 10' to speed. and when I go to add in misc. box it also doesn't add in.

Sovereign Court

I agree with change isn't bad. I will freely admit that I like slow change from things I see as already pretty good.

That being said, I feel lots of great changes are in this page and many more to come. Just the skills section alone is worth mentioning and the weapon blocks are tremendous.

I was leary about losing all the hard black lines (I think borders are so so good) but now as I see this new version I like it alot. I still think the weapon blocks could use more "borders" or hard lines, ect.. to keep info clear.

All in all though I think it looks great, awesome work everyone!

I'm still working on getting used to the names and character info block in middle though.

Sovereign Court

I must say I do like this 3rd version better than second.

I will say that I would like it more if the "Center" portion of layout would be on the Left and the page Built from left to right.

Its how the people most read. Left to right and top of page down. Thats just my point of view but I gotta say its coming along great.

Sovereign Court

I like the "idea" of sectioning in the new landscape format but to be honest, I like the first attempt better.

I like the longer weapon blocks in first vs what seems crammed-in-to-tight-a-space feel the other has.

My eyes naturaly go top left for Character names, ability, ect... and then down and to right for juicy stat blocks and fun.

I am a more profile guy for the character sheet but I must admit I'm liking the landscape form more and more.

My 2 scents would be to keep it closer to the first itteration than the new one.

Great stuff man, truly good work. I can't wait for all new classes to be in. Then of course Gencon will arrive and have changed/tweeked everything again.

Sovereign Court

I don't have a problem with there being either more or new monsters.
I like them as a player, DM, and even just a avid reader.

I do have 2 "Buts.." to throw in and comment on.

I am annoyed however by lack of depth or creativity of some monsters. Its a goblin with "X" ability. Give me something of the reasoning. I love it when I encounter something new and start finding out why the beasts are the way they are.

Second, I would have to say to some creatures...why? I know the simple answers are, well there shaped by the gods, they are experiments by mages, ect... and to some extent I can buy it, but its not a blanket. I mean we can all think of some 10 armed crazy powered monster of some type, but why is it still here, why hasn't rampaged off. It "living" in area, how is it fitting with ecosystem. If just killing everything why isn't this a barren wasteland and the thing died of starvation?

I just like pieces to fit and yes I know its fantasy and its not going to but sometimes a really good story, gives me some semblance of "why". Not just, "uh the archwizard made these creatures and left" Thats it?? arg!

Now Paizo I think has done a pretty darn good job with fleshing out nearly everything they do. Very well "put together". But I understand also the concern for putting brand new monsters in everything also can get a eyebrow raise to.

Sovereign Court

I agree with leaving it as is.

Sovereign Court

Well, this is one of main issues with pathfinder. To multiclass or not to multiclass. Theres always going to be some conflict but I do think that to begin Pathfinder found that balance easier. The six new classes I believe tilted the balance back in favor of a single class emphasis.

solo vs niche role

I walk the gray area in this argument. I can't side with the "everyone has a role" mentality because I find it limited and ridiculous to expect one person to fulfill a roll. Oops, he's down, now what? It also doesn't allow character freedom. "Well I guess we can't play because we don't have a cleric or wizard." While I don't want one or two character to be able to do Everything, I would like to be able to play a game with any combination of players no matter what the class's they are.

power vs versatility

If its all about power then I wouldn't have been playing dnd all these years. Now I have no problem with being "Good" at what you do or "efficient" as many of the gamers I play with say, but I've also seen uber powermages pull out a chair and sit for half the game in half the encounters. I think versatility is a must for a good game and especially for "not complete" games. By that I mean, only 3 players or "we don't have a cleric/fighter/wizard today"

prestige classes

Now I think most people have a bad taste in there mouth do to the million prestige classes from 3.5. I feel there is a place for them and only need to make sure the name "PRESTIGE" is emphasized again in prestige classes. I believe pathfinder very clearly limited prestige classes and made a point not to add any new ones for a while. I believe it is now the time to start slowly adding them back. Paizo has done a great job of design, playtesting and implementing classes. I also think staying on top of things with slight rule changes here and there means that very well done prestige classes can be done again.

I fall into the group liking to mulitclass. I like to have a character that can play in a group of 2 other people to 4 other people and still have a viable chance to complete task. I like to be versitle personally but like having people that are really good at a few things. I don't like characters that can do one thing and ONLY one thing.

That all being said. I think paizo has done a great job in making single class characters viable and well put together. I think the new classes make it much harder to multiclass. I would like the pendulum to swing back towards the center.

Sovereign Court

I feel your pain. My two girls (3 1/2 and 2). While they quickly made it to sleeping through the night, my oldest is now getting up at midnight or 3 am and turning on tv and watching cartoons. arg!!!!

Sorry I missed the post. In my head I had a few games coming up and new ideas. Wanted to pop in, look, if no update...ask, then go back to errands.

Again, thanks for everything

Was wondering if a new release would be coming soon and if it would incorporate all new classes since the final playtest for the advanced player guide pdf is out?

Again, thanks for all the excellent work

Do remember that the PDF is still a playtest version and could be changed (either a little or a lot) between now and the final version prior to publication. So while it is nice to have the playtest classes in the form, minuscule changes can be overlooked if we depend on the way we look at them now.

I agree with you.

I understand putting the energy into creating the sheet with beta might seem wasted since changes will occure. I would argue haveing even just the playtest/Beta versions on the sheet actually helps the playtest.

I have ran a oracle for the last few months and while it does have a few bugs, I can correct those once I print out a sheet.

Data sheets in general are so useful because it speeds up character creation and then gameplay. I love this sheet because it is in the format that I like.

Hey there Lynx. Trey runs the JJWM myspace profile and probably thinks you're crazy as he doesn't know of my gaming habits, whereas I need to actually check the Modern Epic profile more often, especially 'cause we got a show coming up this Friday at Lindberg's, whoo! That said, Paizo really needs a messaging system to go with our profiles =).

It'd definitely be cool to play some Pathfinder. I'll be really busy this week but after that I'll be sure to contact you by the weekend at the very least. What kind of games do you guys run (roleplaying/combat, homebrew/modules)?

We play pathfinder society and also most of the homegames have switched at least to pathfinder rules.

There was a decent showing at Visioncon last week.

Just shoot me a message sometime and we'll talk. email probably better since I usually use facebook and rarely check myspace.

I agree Paizo definetly could use a messaging system

Can't wait to see what all monsters you geniuses have come with, good luck everyone!

Whats up Andrew,

Saw your in Springfield, Mo. Same here. My group plays tons of Pathfinder over here.

I've read some of your stuff and gotta say pretty impressed. Anyway, tried your myspace links to contact you and didn't really get anywhere.

Contact if you want

Sovereign Court

it says maintaining is a standard action and you get + 5 to it also.

Then you have the option to do other actions.

one of those actions is apply dmg from natural weapons, small weap, spiked armor, ect.

Just wanted to clarify since it states its a standard action to maintain.

And besides good to know if you can take the extra points to damage rolls even if you don't have to make a attack roll for whatever reason

Sovereign Court

I'm talking when already In a grapple. Is maintaining a grapple still considered a attack?

Sovereign Court

Can I use power attack while in Grapple?

As the feat states I would take a minus to all attack rolls and plus to my damage rolls.

Just because I don't have to make a attack roll doesn't negate the bonus to damage rolls right?

Sovereign Court

first off I would like say great work on this sheet. I've seen and have used it since it was started and it has become a staple of my games.

In the last several versions the skill section has had many little problems. Class skills not being recongnized being the main culprit.

The last version now marks the correct class skills for the Oracle but doesn't impliment the +3 when putting a rank in some of them corresponding to thier focus.

I love the progress that has been made and give high praise to this awesome sheet.

Check out Washington and Oregon. When the winds blow from the west off the ocean they hit the mountains, the vapor condenses, and the rain gets dumped there. On the other side of the mountains is a "rain shadow desert." The taller the mountains, the more pronounced the effect. Imagine a wall of cliffs...

I believe the fiction your refering to was the "Smoke Ring" series. Pretty good if I remember.

Basically it was a zone or belt in space that kept air in it. Chunks of soil and vegatation grew in zero gravity and orbs of water scattered here and there.

Sovereign Court

in latest version the Oracle's class skills are correct. the "class abilities" on the abilies and feats page isn't showing anything.

Sovereign Court

sorry for not clarifying above.

I ment in reference to spell use.

Touch spells
Range touch spells
and of course rays

I might have missed it somewhere, but I didn't think they were a option on any pull downs in weapon menu's

Sovereign Court

Congrats in advance! I have a 3 1/2 and 2 so understand completely.

when you get back or if you haven't left.

On attacks. Can you add in Touch, ranged touch and ray.

Also

Spell section.

I for one love to multiclass. If I have something that has Two or more spell lists, I'd love an option to be able to do that in this sheet.

I know it is versital and I can create another sheet over, but alas I am only moderatly adequet at excel. (that and I believe spelling as I look back)

Is there a way to create or allow for multiple spell lists, each with its own primary modifier and DC's.

Is there a Spelllist sheet in the works in this fabulous work also?

Sovereign Court

I'm trying to create a oracle from this last version.

there's no place to add curses and revalations.

I see the data in there but see no place to choose?

Sovereign Court

excellent.

Will we see the new playtesting base classes in the newer versions?

Sovereign Court

now what am I going to do at work this morning? jeez

Sovereign Court

Quick note again.

I wonder if all the new classes have something at every level like these two.

I understand the idea of giving items at every level to Keep from Over multiclassing. I just don't won't it to be so much so as to now penalize people for multiclassing.

Sovereign Court

I must say, I'm really impressed with the Oracle. The one thing that I have problems with are the IMO limited options and versatility of Divine Spells.

The Oracle with there Revalations mix it up. Also the added spells which arn't from the cleric spell lists really shake things up.

I would say add a few more revalations and more Curses

Sovereign Court

Again, great job on everything.

Will you be adding the soon to be out new base classes for Pathfinder? The playtest will start with Cavalier and Oracle.

Sovereign Court

figured it out. the Bard Fort formula was looking at the Skill point column.

Sovereign Court

Found a interesting one and probably a easy fix.

I was putting bard levels in and every time I put a Bard level in my Base Fort goes up 6. This is for every bard level.

1 = 6, 2 = 12, ect.

fun surprise

Sovereign Court

I haven't seen many postings on this in a while.

I was wondering if you had started putting in the other prestige classes available for Pathfinder Society in the next updated version?

Great stuff

Sovereign Court

This is a excellent work. I loved my heroforge and have been looking for a Good data sheet for awhile. I discovered this a few weeks back and am amazed how far it has come.

A few comments.

I also thing being able to list more than three classes is a must.

Why does the green strip really need to be on First page? doesnt it just take up room?

When taking protection domain for cleric. The resistance bonus granted is only given to Fortitude and not all three saves.

Love the sheets though. Its great.

Sovereign Court

Ok, we came across this in our last pathfinder society game.

Character played:

fighter that used two hand crossbows.

Had Two handed fighting And Rapid Reload.

Two hand fighting: hand crossbows are light weapons, causing him to fire both at -2 to attack.

Rapid Reload: The hand crossbows can be reloaded as a free action.

As of now he's only first, but you can see where this is heading quickly. He will turn into a gattling gun at higher levels. Add some magic to that crossbow and we have a mini gun.

I couldn't find anywhere where it said it couldn't be done? The basic commen sense thought is, "how do you reload if both hands are holding crossbows?" Nothing in the rules it appears stops it.

anyone?
