Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Indeed...Losk is going to rearrange spells a little....

"But are you equipped to deal with anything coming from downstairs of those pugs coming back when you are resting?" Felicia asks from her position watching the hall.

Losk Grins at the girl, Ach, looks to me like you two newcomers are well rested, and sprightly. I'm quite happy to let you stay awake for a wee while, and let us catch some kip. We havena encountered anything up till now that we couldn't handle at need, an we blocked the only way up to this level pretty well a wee while ago. I'm surprised ye didne hear the crash.

I'm a light sleeper mind, so no tryin' to finger me axe.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk shakes his head at all the wasted effort.

Right, nowas everyone's satisfied the place wont fall upon us; and that we've gotten all we can out of the little brutes. What do we do? It's getting late, and I for one would be better equipped to search down stairs after a nights rest.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk stands and moves over to Nuveril, laying a hand on her shoulder, he muster something under his breath, and a shaft of light illuminates the pair through the stained glass at the end of the chapel.

Burning "Obscuring Mist" to cast cure light wounds, heals 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 points of damage.

Losk is running low on useful thinks to do too, not a lot of spells left, this floor *is* secure, how about we sleep it out in one of the undercover rooms?

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Ack, ah see. Well then, best that we become firm friends. Is anyone hurt in any way? Ah can render some aid if'n ya are.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk's axe clatters to the floor, the sound ringing out in the chapel like the toll of a bell.

Ack, you'll ne'er get that fire up there out from doon here withoot magic. I doubt any o' us has the magic either, or it'uld be being used by now. Let her burn, she'll burn oot soon enough, and we can see the damage later.

This floor seems ta be secure, I reckon we need ta investigate that cellar next.

With that he turns to the new people. You're help is appreciated, but who the hell are ya, and what do you want?

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk swings out with his huge axe, barely missing the fleeing rat-daemon.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 71d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

DAMN IT!

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk fights on, stoically swinging his axe at the damnedable fiend.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 201d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Okay, looks like I made a bit of a mess of all of that. Sorry for any confusion...

Not a problem, it looks like I was the only one confused, as usual :)

Losk raises his axe as the King moves towards him, flinching at the blow he takes. His eyes light with rage though and he raisies his axe.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 201d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Slipping though, his axe crashes to the floor, taking a chip out of the stone.

Damn pugwamip, it would be beheaded if that crit was possible, no question!

I might have misunderstood the action. When Monty said the king "turned to face his new foe," I assumed Losk was in melee. But he could have just meant the king turned that way but hadn't taken a step; seems he's still in the same square. In any case, she missed, flanking or no, so it doesn't really make a difference to her actions.

Makes a difference for Losk, don't want to cast a spell if he *did* take a 5ft step... :)

Male Dwarf Cleric 1
Nuveril wrote:
Dang, he's got a high AC! Nuveril will take a 5 foot step to get into a flanking position with Losk on him (if I'm understanding the map right).

Monty, Is the King in the space next to Losk now? I tried to put him out of combat range, but Nuveril appears to think I'm flankable.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Annoyed with the fact that the group seems to be ignoring his obviously wise advice. Losk moves north, (To E4), planting his feet, and intoning a prayer to Serenrae, a cone of fire leaps forth from his hands, engulfing the pugwampi king, and just about missing Nuveril.

1d4 ⇒ 3 Damage, reflex save, DC 14 for half damage...

Male Dwarf Cleric 1
Nuveril wrote:
"Flee if you want, dwarf," Nuveril barks, "and you give our enemies time to put out the fires and regroup. I would rather fight his supreme majesty on the ground than face these thrice-damnable creatures in the rafters."

Losk growls a deep growl, and prepares another shot. "Ah spoke nothing fleeing fool child. We canne harm them at range with there blasted luck, and they won't come to us here. Do ya think they aren't stupid enough to follow us to where we can kill them with ease?"

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk, glances at his companions, noting their obvious struggle, and nano's distinct lack of magic recently.

"Nano. Nuveril. Move back. The way we came, to the walled Garden. We can defend that. I will come last, and hold them off."

That said, he lets another fire bolt go.

1d20 ⇒ 111d20 ⇒ 181d6 ⇒ 3

Male Dwarf Cleric 1
Monty Haul wrote:

As Nuveril steps forward into their midst, the tiny creatures yelp with alarm. However, as she brings both weapons to bear on the king, Nuveril's attack is spoiled as a stray scrap of burning fabric blows down onto her from the growing blaze in the rafters.

Nano's attempt at igniting one of the oil covered pugwampis is also thwarted, the small door to the lamp swinging open just as he hurls it towards the creatures, the flame dying as it sails through the air.

Losk and Parvenah (last call) are up next

Oops....

Losk, again targets the pugwampis with the oil coating with a bolt of fire..

1d20 ⇒ 11d20 ⇒ 141d6 ⇒ 3

Bolt 4 of 6 for today I think....

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk watches he small flask strike near the pugwampis and realises what the others are up to, he aims a strike up there...

1d20 ⇒ 101d20 ⇒ 161d6 ⇒ 2

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

"Ack, now there's interesting." says Losk, as he see's the Pugwami wearing the crown. He closes his eyes again, and concentrates, then snaps open, another ba;ll of fire leaping from his hands.

Fire Bolt 3 of 6 for the day, at the lead Pugwampi

1d20 ⇒ 91d6 ⇒ 3

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk is planning to unleash another blast of flames, this time away from the other to make the split/panic....

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk looks up, confused, "Ack, yea Gods. Where'd more Desna-Cursed monkey come from?"

Male Dwarf Cleric 1
Nuveril wrote:
Nuveril glares up at the quivering fabric stretched across the ceiling. "Dwarf," she addresses Losk, "if your sun-lady wants to help us reclaim her temple, would she not grant you some kind of fire to burn away the shroud they're hiding behind?"

the fire bolt description says "hit a single foe", not sure if either a) I can see a foe to target, or if failing that, I can target the cloth....Monty's Call

If I can see a pugwampis to aim at:

A wide grin spreads over Losk's face. "Eye lassie, why didn't I think of that?"

Ranged touch attack at the pugwampis 1d20 ⇒ 191d6 ⇒ 1

If I can't see a pugwampis to aim at, but can aim at the cloth:

A wide grin spreads over Losk's face. "Eye lassie, why didn't I think of that?"

1d20 ⇒ 131d10 ⇒ 5 Translate that 5 into a letter, and we get a firebolt to cell E19, doing 1d6 ⇒ 2 damage...

If I can't hit anything:

"Ack lassie, I do, but I have to have some corporeal thing to aim at. The goddess doesnee like the waste of her energy."

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk keeps his feet planted firmly where they are. "Eye, you lot throw the little things down, and we'ull finish em off. I aint gettin' any closer to them than this, not with the way luck runs near em."

Losk reloads his crossbow, and waits for the others to position themselves.

I'm off the net for a couple of days now. I'll sort the map of the upper level and a full description then.

Thanks Steve. Glad to see you're keeping tabs on us! :)

Nuveril wrote:
"Come on," she growls. "Let's get this place cleared out."

Losk, moves through the garden and into the room. "Eye lassie, looks like this will be the last of the ground floor, then we can go back for them stairs back yonder, and tha's the job done."

As he says this he moves forward (into A2). Glancing up Losk notes, "Well look at that, the rafters have been covered with the fabrics from the place." Stopping still, he stairs at one spot for a few seconds, "an that looks like movement up there..."

Perception: 1d20+3=17

Parvenah moves quickly to retrive the bowl before it can be dented, also gathering up the coins and the unusual chime. "Friend dwarf," she addresses Losk, holding up the chime for his and Nano's perusal, "does this item serve some ritual purpose in your faith?"

"Indeed, it does, and thank you, I'd ah missed that. O' course I u'l ensure that you receive suitable recompense from the Church. I wouldnee want to deprive you of the profit clearing out a place such as this could bring, just because it is a house of my faith."

Nuveril wrote:

Unless we run across some potions of lesser restoration, looks like we're going to have to camp out here a few days to heal our ability damage naturally ... unless that cleric with Lady Almah is high enough level to cast it. Either way, we have to clear this place out first.

Agreed.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk shifts from his knees to his arse, and sits panting. Taking time to thank his Goddess over and over, while the others likewise recover.

"Well folks, that wasn'e the easiest task in the world. I truely hope I never see one of them things again.
"Where do we go next?"

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

As the stirge finally gains it's fill and flies up away from Losk, he staggers to the ground, breathing heavily he slowly recovers himself and calls again to his goddess from his knees. His prayer is answered as a surge of energy swells within the room, accompanied by the glow of the sun through the glass in the dome above.

(1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 for Losk)

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Getting infuriated with the beast losk decides enough is enough and brings his axe to bear.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 131d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

But doesn't manage to hit the blasted thing...

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Dropping his axe, Losk returns the grapple of the creature, bear hugging ut until you hear the carapace begin to crack.

1d20+1=21

1d3+1=3

It's not dead, but it's not inflicting con damage either...Nuveril

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

No point rolling for Losk's perception it seems either, no naturel 20 this time....

Init: 1d20+0=4

Lost wanders into the room, wrinking his nose, stopping just before the centre, and looking around the walls (D4)

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk Grins at Nano and continues through into the next room.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1
Nuveril wrote:
"There's another lump of stone in here to pay your respects to."

At Nuveril's words, Losk looks up. He carefully stows the book in his backpack, and moves to look in the room. "Oh, we are investigatin' again are we lassie? Well, that's no statue to ma Goddess, but looks at a glance to be the same guy as outside, a shrine dedicated to him though, very interestin' I'm sure."

With that he moves out of the room, and looks through the next archway, "Ohh, some nice pictures in here too, and seems to lead further in. Shall we follow?"

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Perception:1d20+3=19, Knowledge Religion:1d20+7=21, no Knowledge History I'm afraid....

As Losk wanders into the library he sees Nuveril tossing the book, with lightning reflexes, he drops his axe to the floor with a clatter, and throws himself across the room to catch the book, landing in a heap of dwarf.

"Bloody Hell Lass, tha'll not treat books like that aroun' me! Especially ones in a Library to ma Goddess!" With that he stomps out into the sunshine of the court yard, and sits down to start looking over the book, checking first that it is properly intact and then looking at the contents.

As the others come outside, he looks pointedly at Nuveril, "She'll need rebinding, but that was true before you picked her oop. I think I'll keep her though, as a remnant of tha people who started this place."

Looking at the images on the walls Losk again speaks up, "Those are genies, 5 of them, that called themselves the Templars of the five winds."

Male Dwarf Cleric 1
Nuveril wrote:
She turns to Losk. "Looks like you'll be reacquainting yourself with your ancestors' underground way of life, dwarf. Let's hope your Sun-Lady's patronage doesn't end where the darkness begins."

Losk Laughs again, "Ack Lassies, that's the joy of a Dwarf worshipping a Goddess of the sun, she protects me aboove grund, and below, well, there are'ny many horrors for a dwarf below ground.

That's a sound plan though." and with that, he stands his axe carefully to one side, and starts shifting wood.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1
Nuveril wrote:
Nuveril looks at the dwarf curiously. "How do you come to depend on a winged, light-giving female for patronage?" she asks. "Surely your ancestors lived their lives under the earth, where they cared nothing for the sun and the sun cared nothing for them."

"Ack, you're right, an' it's a long and twisted story, too long for a time such as this, and more made for a camp fire and a good strong drink. Hopefully that story is coming to an end with these acts, and another, better one can begin. But my Lady Sarenrae means more to Dwarves than you may imagine, we need some things from the surface world, and all of those are provided by the Lady's glory."

Parvenah basks in the surge of healing power (recovers 3hp, so only down 1 now.) and smiles at Losk. "Your skills are a blessing from Sarenrae, my friend. Hold for just a moment, Nuveril, I want to examine this mold for a moment."

"Aye lass, a Blessin' indeed, although I doobt if my skill has anythin' to do wi' it. Th'e light o' Sarenrae shines on oos for the deads we do, and not for our ability to manipulate Her, or Her agents."

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Heal check roll, now 1 hp away from full...1d6=2

Losk mutters thanks to his goddess for her blessing, and then looks at the others. "Well, shall we be ploughing on then?

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

With the spider dead, Losk takes a few steps towards the centre of the room, and pulls something from a pocket. Closing his eyes, he concentrates deeply, and rays of sunshine stream through the holes in the roof, bathing the room in a brilliant glow. As the rays wash over everyone, they feel reinvigorated and renewed.

Losk moves to get everyone in the 30ft radius of channel energy, so that would be 1d6 HP each up ot your MAX.

:) Particularly since Nuveril is going down if she gets hit again ... and then she comes out of Rage and gets even more in the negatives. Thank Jason Buhlman for death at negative Con!

I'm sure we can do something about that, now, how do these healing surges work again ;)

More seriously, if I do somthing other than an outright attack, will the spider get an AOO, since it's still in combat with Nuveril?

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk takes another swipe at the spider, this time hitting it properly, (1d20+2=15, 1d8+1=7) a leg snaps, but the spider doesn't fall...

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

"Ack, is there another of them damn miniature dog deamon things abou?" Shouts Losk as he sees Nano's magic go wide.

Paravah's action...

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Seeing the spider drop, Losk charges through the room towards it, a screem of rage leaving his lips.

Round 1...

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Initiative: 1d20=11

Perception: 1d20+3=16

As he walks into the room, Losk looks up, "Well, tha's one big spi..." Losk goes quiet as the monster skitters accross the ceiling.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk watches on with a wry grin, "Well, ya have style, I'll give'ee that" he says, and then has a coughing fit from the mold...

As he walks into the room Losk glances at the mold remaining on the door, and then takes to sifting through the bunks...(No relevant knowledges for Losk....)

Nuveril wrote:
"Ugh," Nuveril grunts, as she rolls the body out of the way like a hairy, lumpy sack with heavy, flopping appendages. "We're going to have to get this carrion out of here before nightfall, or it will attract scavengers. Not that it wouldn't be fun to hide one in Lady Almah's bedroll."

"Ach, there' donne seem to be much in here? Shall we try though 't door?"

Losk says as he hefts his axe, waiting for one of the others to open the door.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

I think that should be the map now.

Losk leaves the others to the dog-rat, and moves to the door at the sound of the baboons.

"Get back, ya flmain loons. We'll never get em under control when we canne get at em!" he shouts, then closes his eyes and concentrates, finally throwing a hand forward and releasing a bolt of energy, at the nearest beast.

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20+0=9

Damage: 1d6=1

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk loses his humour as he kneels for a moment before the statue, head bowed (He's a cleric of Sarenrae after all!).

At the noise to the left he swings round with his axe, the momentum taking him off balance again, and as he looks up, notices the Pugwampises (Pugwampii?), and storms into the room, heading for the nearest one. "Bloody little wretches, yu'll feel me axe now!"

Attack at nearest Pugwampi, Atk: 16, Damage: 9 *

* For anyone that cares, I was playing with the .takeLowest option, and thought I'd got it wrong, so there are two rolls, and this is the first one, when I realised I *had* done it right....Damn technology :)

p.s. In case it helps, I played in GIMP

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

"Well laddies, and ladies, time we introduced ourselves to these bloody monkeys." Says Losk as he stands and moves forward to wards the doors. "Who fancies going first?" he says with a wink as he raises his axe.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Losk tilts his head to one side as he hears the noise. "Aye, laddie, I hear it too." he whipers.
