Hi guys! Posting it on all my pbps.

Our offshore team at work is very affected by the pandemic at the moment and with the fiscal year approaching to an end, our reduced capacity is terribly affecting my time. For the next several weeks it will likely impact me in such way that I simply won't be able to keep up with the forums, things normalizing only as we start approaching mid June.

For the games where I play, GMs please feel free to bot the characters. If you don't desire to bot me for so long, I completely understand, apologize for the late notice and wish you all the best of fun. If you hold me around, though, I should be back after this storm.

For the games where I host, my sincerest apologies to the players - I won't let you hanging so if you stick around until my return we will give it continuation as normal. Otherwise, please message me and once I'm back I'll recruit replacements.

To everybody, I'm sorry for the late notice and I hope we will continue playing together once I'm back!

Ok; Lorna herself has to stay within 50 feet of her phantom/exemplar, and has to have line of sight to it. Other than that, it's mostly the phantom (in his incorporeal form) - so I will do some RP here :)

Lorna focus, once coordinated with her companions, and gets ready. When people go to their positions she blinks, deeply, and feels the pain through her body - intense, burning, until finally the phantasmagoric version of her leaves her as if a soul being freed.

The creature immediately moves to the view of the enemies from the small hold. It passes through trees and bushes, in a sinister, macabre circular dance, making sure to stay within the range of the etheric tether of the spiritualist.

I already claimed souls from your pool... And I will get back for more! - the exemplar laughs loudly, its incorporeal limbs moving through the air as if pure smoke, haunting yet very much discernible - Tonight I'll come to crush your necks, unless my hunger is satiated with the head of your leader! Bring me her head now and I'll shall spare you... Let Kressle live another night, and I'll murder you all the same way I claimed Happs and his men!

Lorna can actually try to catch the attention of the people on the fort with her phantom, incorporeally manifested (pretending to be a ghost). This way, maybe you guys can sneak behind and try to go for Kressle's neck directly?

The poison idea was never targeted at Kressle and her men, but rather at the owner of the bottles... The Stag Lord. It's more of a long shot than something immediate. - she ponders - And it hurts me that we lost the element of surprise. Dealing with this small garrison was a way to give Oleg some peace, as they're way too close for comfort.

A brief pause as she looks around.

If we can identify the road, we can assume they will send more people to the outpost, and likely try to ambush some of them on their path. I'm just concerned that if we turn our backs to this group now and decide to focus on the critters or other similar threats, we will basically be exposing the outpost and ourselves by consequence.

We don't need to do the... Wine treatment... Before fighting them. I suspect, however, that we might not be enough to deal with them, so we have fewer options.

The noblewoman scratches her neck swiftly with the nails, careful not to hurt herself.

If we deal with their leader, they might put weapons down. We can also try the stealth approach or some divide and conquer, but I suspect that now that we lost the element of surprise... This wouldn't work. Maybe we could try to cull their rangers from afar, somehow?

Reading through there, there's no reason to think Signy would have departed without telling us, so I think it's reasonable for us to have agreed on something like "after 10 minutes if she's not back..." - I don't know, we can imagine she did the "spur of the moment" thing but I doubt we wouldn't evolve the plan before kicking it.

She breathes deeply as she thinks and looks around.

I like the idea of someone sneaking to gather information, but I also think we should all be well rested and it concerns me if such person would still be tired come the first rays. - still whispering, she briefly pauses - Now, as for plans... I have some ideas, obviously depending on how defended this place is. I would love to keep the Stag Lord's stash untouched for him to find, but maybe spike his alcohol. I mean, spike it for eternal slumber. A swift or untimely early death of a man could mean saving countless lives later on, maybe even throw the group in disarray as they seek a replacement...

She's tired, but her mind goes around on strategies that would minimize deaths - particularly on her side, but the other side as well if possible.

Your ideas are sound, my friends, but what I meant is that we should try to get on the road to Kressle's as soon as possible... Not that we need to arrive there tonight. I believe we might have to camp on our way, but that direction should be our focus.

She pauses.

Hopefully we will be able to get some recon first, and use the night to plan our approach. I'm not sure diplomacy will be an option with her, but we might be able to plan something more furtive. Let's think about kobolds and mites after we deal with that immediate threat, especially since we only have the surprise element for a couple days.

These are great points, Brental. - says Lorna, first approaching with a serious face, but then smiling - I am absolutely onboard. Let's not treat these creatures as enemies from the get-go... Let's give a chance to get to know them. We never know where we can find allies.

She walks around the map, tracing a line with her nail.

If we still have some good hours of light, we should depart South already towards Kressle's, but then do a small circle northeast and try to reach these tribes.

I might be able to stop getting points on Local and go for Arcana if someone else is covering for Local!

Let's produce a map... Maybe Oleg has something like that already, maybe not. Then, we can draw where Kressle's camp is, and where the loot you mentioned it.

She stands up. In her core, she didn't believe they'd extract any more useful information, and she didn't have any reasons to believe he'd be lying. Likely, just protecting his skin at this point.

Once he marks the map, we have no more real use for him. - she speaks to her companions, but doesn't try to hide from Vlad's - We can likely let him go, but I will let you two decide if he made a good, precise job with his details, or if he tried to hide anything.

She turns around to leave. In her mind, the detail about the alcohol was quite interesting. So much potential... Especially if the Stag Lord was to find his bottles where they were supposed to be.

That's exactly the single point I want to hear more about... Nothing about the Stag Lord, but actually about... Kressle. - she starts - Where we can find her, who exactly is her... And who is protecting her right now. And please, don't try my patience.

There's a feat to throw stuff better (Throw Anything); alchemists not only get the feat, but they also get to add more to damage. Lorna is in a similar situation (spiritualists don't get a lot of proficiencies) but you know, we could always use slings.

Her archetype is funny as to she can "give" her feats to the exemplar when it's summoned, so my feat progression is actually a combination of spiritualist's and phantom's.

I thought about giving her some ranged capabilities, but by level 5 she will be so battered when the phantom is out (and sickened!) so it wouldn't be a long term plan, so I'm just thinking on ways to make her disappear and keep healing herself (stuff like boots of the earth) while the "bad juju Lorna" does the job :)

She then carefully goes towards Oleg, avoiding the traps on her way.

She turns her head to the prisoner and, again, smiles in a warm manner.

Lorna opens both hands forwards and does a pull movement with her fingers, clearly in pain. Arms and hands look skinnier, popped veins, and a certain cold aura swiftly permeates.

Unghh! - she loudly lets out, and the exemplar is pulled back inside her in anger, inefficiently trying to grab to the grass and earth as it moves through the air. Small marks are all it lets behind as it disappears.

I'm okay... - Lorna puffs, both hands on her knees trying to recover her air as she answers Brental. Her health, beauty and strength look recovered, despite the apparent painful fatigue.

It's... Enough. - she finally says, then turning to Meneas and pointing the fleeing man - He's all yours, hooded knight. Proceed with him at your discretion.

She slowly stands her head again, and the voice sounds more recovered.

We accept your surrender. We will talk as soon as your last comrade is dealt with. Drop your weapons and knee down. - she finally orders the bandit.

I don't think he's already mounted - I think he just reached the mount. We all just had a single turn so far, and in his turn he'd only be able to double move to the mount.

To be able to mount or dismount, it's another move action; you can try to fast mount (as a free action with a DC 20 ride check), but in order to even try, you have to have an available move action (which is consumed in case you fail to fast mount).

Lorna finally finishes calling the exemplar. The ectoplasmic creature finishes clawing out of the woman, leaving her behind in a husk of her former self - weaker, uglier, sweating suffering.

The exemplar itself is nothing weak. Though it looks like Lorna, it's a much stronger, faster, confident and supernatural form of her; hair eternally flying as if being magically blown, hands curved like claws. The phantasmagoric creature almost seems to float on her feet, which touch the ground gracefully despite the apparently massive body it sustains. The exemplar's look is that of anger: it grins, holding an immense sledge hammer in its hands, and charges towards the closest enemy, trying to get to it before it has time to act.

The exemplar laughs openly, terrifying, not seeming to bother with anything. It's not a good laugh: it's full of anger and violence, showing teeth sharper than a human's would be.

I'd rather count them dead only when they're in fact dead (negative CON) so we can stabilize and bring back anyone we might want to "interview". It's okay to count them out of the fight, though, to make things easier (assuming no one on their side would be able to channel and bring them back up).

Of course it doesn't apply to constructs and undead :D

You misunderstand me. I don't intend exactly to negotiate - I intend to understand their motives, instigate them to speak and give us more information on their leadership. I think bloodshed will be unavoidable... It simply doesn't mean that we can't benefit from speaking first. - she says, patiently - Without breaking any element of surprise, as they'd only be seeing me and Oleg. I don't think they would feel threatened, or even alerted that things could be amiss.

She smiles, as she understands she isn't really threatening at all. At least, not most of time. Even her weapon of choice looks more like a gardening tool - something common to her House.

I personally don’t think it gives up the element of surprise... Especially if they don’t see all of us to start. Your idea to come riding from behind them is exactly what I referred to. Just keep in mind that while easy and common, the blade isn’t the only way to deal with outlaws, and exchanging words might give us an edge for other situations. We don’t want to simply deal with today’s problem, if there’s an opportunity to aid our future endeavors as well. I’ll wait for the others to ponder on the topic.

She turns to Brental, pointing at the map as she speaks.

I like the positioning and the idea of pulling them towards the traps. I was never one to know much about traps, so I honestly have no idea if there is such thing as a ranged activated one. Regardless, your approach is sound.

Yes, the tracking was mostly an idea. Tracks run cold after some days - even some hours - hence why following a fresh track would be much easier. But I reckon there are other consequences from it. - says Lorna, hearing about the planning ideas - While I like the whole thing about enclosing them by closing the gates behind, and while I could do the gate closing... I don't want to hamper Meneas' ability while mounted at his horse.

It might be a good idea to keep Meneas and his mount somewhat hidden outside, though. With the whole night to prepare, I'm sure we can likely do a good job. That's likely the best way to surround them and keeping them from fleeing. I'm sure the traps will help too in that matter, assuming they can be activated after they pass through them the first time.

We all know what the sentence likely would be, if we were to send them to the Aldori or Restov. - says Lorna - Of course, it's possible some of them would be truthfully and sincerely interested in repenting, and could become useful, productive members of society.

That's mostly wishful thinking, and not practical enough. If they're offered the option to surrender and don't accept, like I said before... It's their option. If you play in the rain, you might get wet. If you play with fire, you might be burned. Nothing cruel or inhuman about it, so no need to overthink. The benefit of doubt, the offer of surrender, neither of them is to be understood as naivety.

In my case, I am simply limited on how often I can post. Usually no more than one or two posts a day, so I have to fill the gaps and engage on the few opportunities I have. Many times I will simply throw some hooks or push to express her feelings, and from the years of experience in forums - I try to always push the story to move forward more than stimulate the parallel flavor conversations ;)

It doesn't mean Lorna doesn't want to talk to people or that I don't want to roleplay, but rather that I don't have the availability neither I should be *required* to do so. I have my own pace and I still manage to enjoy the game, even if some people are more or less active than I am.

Overall, let's try not to read too much on the situations. I like our pace and the interactions so far. Some people will always be more sensitive, some people will always be more passive aggressive, some people will have more or less availability to game. That's all part of the human relationships and composes the social contract that safeguards our fun here.

Keeping people alive shouldn't be just a commodity for our plans... Right?

Regardless, I like that we keep Oleg's and Svetlana's safety in focus. We need to make sure they're not exposed to needless risks, even if at this point doing nothing would be riskier. - brief pause - Now, about letting anyone escape... Maybe it could be to our benefit. One of us, more skilled in tracking and staying hidden, could use the opportunity to follow such person directly to the heart of their den, without engaging. Wouldn't it be valuable information?

Not between the characters and not between the players... I'm not sure what I am missing? I had been in games with *so* much drama here in the forums, that this one here actually feels quite light. She met wild horses before - and some of them were really too much into biting and kicking for her taste. Yet, she gulps in and tries to put a confident face and steps forward as if asking the animal permission to get closer.

Spells were incredible - arcane or divine. She did know some tricks of her own, but her "spells" were based off her psionic powers; they didn't involve the words, components or knowledge needed by their counterparts, but actually sheer force of will and a focused mind. They were simpler.
