65. A little more oomph! Spells reach an extra five feet further from the caster, arrows fly ten feet farther, hand held weapons do one extra point of damage, but you have to flip a coin, heads yep, tails nope.

66. Quirky killer~ an enemy made by an ancestor of yours has sworn to kill you personally at a certain time in a certain way, to make it clear it is payback for the mistake your great grandmother made during the crusades. He will not allow you to die any other way, but then he himself gets killed , you think, or maybe you lost him, or perhaps this is him now with the catapult full of hot stew!

67. A deity gives very veiled and ambiguous clues about distant parts of the adventure once a day, possessing ordinary folk around the character and speaking easily through them. This deity is also asking one survey question per prediction, once a day. ( did this, it was a little odd but made for a bit of a mystery while they sorted out what was actually going on)

Guys I know you are avoiding naming the item or being specific about the powers, but many of the items you are referencing are somewhat...unique in their concepts and powers. It's becoming increasingly easy for me to identify them.

If I can identify them, then the various authors definitively can. And what they are hearing is quite dismissive if not rude. We need to vent—believe me I know—but we have to be very careful here. The authors are unable to identify their items without disqualifying themselves. So their hands are tied in trying to defend their decisions.

I have compared it in the past to someone holding your arms behind your back while someone else punches you in the stomach. Not cool. So while we have been doing a decent job so far, we do seem to be slipping towards the bad zone where posts get flagged and eliminated.

Before you post ask if this statement could apply to more than one item. If it can't don't post it. If it can you are probably OK.

Let's try and keep these threads a fun place to visit for everybody.

Just in case it was myself, I pulled my most recent comment. Thanks for good guidance.

I am lightminder, a minor deity and member of a deities co-op, I do hinges and little bendy things. Thieves pray to me and offer oil ritualistically to keep dreaded squeaks from giving them away. Young lovers sneaking out to hold hands and share dreams also offer me oils. On this world the greatest of my dreams is realized, from small seams of metal I use a great portion of my power to call onto being hinger-flies, like door hinges delicately wrought, that flap about and fly to live in oily corners, symbiotically harvesting a tithe of velvety flocks of slowly migrating moss, and depositing their spores as they rest from flapping clumsily.
The hinges persistently fly, and when too tired or too wind blown, they fold and unfold inch worming sideways. The moss thrives on oily things and waxy things and some soldiers intentially engender the moss as it camouflages their gear and silences the clatter in soft velvety layers. It is fire resistant and the velvety moss also loves to gather under the lips of cauldrons. In some races it has the effect when eaten of calming them in contentment , in others it is a stimulant that helps them work extra hours when the moss fouled candles come into use.
When the weather gets warm the effects of the moss are greater and rebellious youth lay their oil in puddles in the woods while hinger-flies flock and flutter, and when that have done their work a portion of the hinger-flies are netted to be sold to the smithy to be bashed out in sheets to make the armour that the moss most favours.

The five stare restraint.

A small wooden box perched on a wharf like it was sent into a corner for a time out, sitting at a wrong angle in Bristle Harbour, like it stayed where it was kicked. The door is smaller than standard, looked like it was buttered buried and beaten, is held still by the middle of three hinges. Inside looks like the walls are all original and overbuilt with layers of stolen lumber timber framed and nailed and stuck together with decades of grime. A hole in the mismatched floor vomits up the tips of tall waves like a low budget krill and sea lice infested ol heller.

A hand holds a terrible looking rotting wooden spoon still just long enough for the tip of a wave to take an oily bilgey swipe at it, the tooth deprived muttering hole just opposite the shoulder from the spoon bracing hand growls "close enough for horse plops and blast pirates..." And trades the spoon out for a earthenwear mug. Not earthenware like a cone four ceramic but earthenware as in it looks like it was just dug up In port perils city midden, and is still wearing the earth.

A slate depicts some coins on one side of a scale and a mug in suds on the other. A half hobbit half hobgoblin bathed in his own cold sweat is bracing his dry heave quivering torso to the back of it. The only noise is the waves lifting the floor up as they are not actually nails down, just pinched under the walls, well that noise and the constricted and exhausted heaves of reverse peristalsis of the HobGHobbit, bits of yellow bile-filth dripping of his wet hair into the cutlery drawer the muttering dish pig has put away in the "done" pile.

There is a profound sense of wrongness as the proprietor courteously bows and guides you to one of the three tables, the fancy one with intact chairs, and a fresh Doiley under the unlit candle in the middle of it. He pushes the metal cage along its rail to make room for you and unfortunately the city health inspector's red badge finally drops from his charred and broken corpse and lands still in most of a hand on the Doiley, only to quickly be snatched away and shoved back through the bars of the cage, with a complaint that even in death he was spoiling business hereabouts...

The menu is limited to hard liquor from the still in the corner, and sickly fat pallid leeches that inject before they Injest, regurgitating the drugged brine in a recycled pickle barrel the leeches are languishing in.

I lived on the prairies and there was no up hill, just below zero- 50 below with a high of minus 39, and if your hat blew off you had five minutes to get home before your skin started to die. putting meat on the porch to freeze, boots in the fridge to keep them from thawing. (takes out teeth gives them a shake and re-fits them into mouth)

The styrofoam squeak of boots in snow and the sight of frozen pets we wish we had a bus to push, the effort would have kept us warm. We hear southerners cancelled school if it even snowed but i never had a day of school cancelled.
(leans back in rocking chair so hard it gets stuck under the mantle- he sees what has happened and acts like he MEANT to do that)

No one guessed your weight they all talked about surface to mass ratios and thawing times, scientists would be the guys jumping into the river and then timing how long to get them back to breathing and bleeding and room temperature using different methods. foreign militaries training for Siberia came here because we had the same climate, even though our population was mostly Mennonites, Hutterites, Doukhobours and Quakers at that time (especially around the town of tolstoy).
( gestures with thumb to an axe mounted over mantlepeice, used at clear lake Conscientious objector work camp)

tires would shatter if they were even a little flat and that was the season to sell riverfront property to southerners from Toronto, because they couldn't believe this frozen wasteland would flood in the spring, then be an entomologists dream when the floods subsided, ah but autumn, there was a nice week, but dammit we had digital vote counters from diebold!. (strikes match and lights pipe full of dusty tobacco from a tin bought on sale back in 1956, he is down to his last eleven tins, the house is made of the rest embedded in cobb and covered in tar paper and thousands of old sand bags now UV deteriorated and blowing in the wind like spent liverwurst casings, a branch is stuck on the sod roof, deposited by last years flood)

380. My Life Among the Makh'Inuxkh: chiromigrants of the undersea volcano and their culture, novel social inventions, and gnome befuddling tool designs.

This is a heavily illustrated cetaciouthropogical treatise on the monstrous killer whale humanoids. Almost every page has a black ink drawing showing tools symbols seating plans and small talk interruption decision trees. There are frequent passive aggressive observations on the anthropologist who rejected the authors marriage proposal. Reading it carefully will give the reader a plus two on sense motive checks for the next fortnight but only on cetaceans. The inventions show a very aquatic bias on problem solving, such as lids held I place by bubble pressure when stored at a certain angle and hunting strategies built on wave patterns and ice buoyancy. Social inventions include ideas so foreign as to be untranslatAble and indescribable (slosh heaving body angling to determine fish vomiting gull attraction to pitch indirect woo through conscientization of pod elders as a polyfidelitous courtship strategy for example). This book is best read in a deep bath with a seal pressing the cover against your sonar cranial sac.

The 27 years in jail is actually where he made so much positive change. He was a fine human to his fellow inmates and called up the good in them. He made good friends with members of quite different political parties and learned the languages of the factions, and learned the language of his oppressors so he could really hear their views in order to transform the situation. Sadly there is still a great deal of economic disparity there, but sadly it is also present in many other places.... I am thankful for the good moments, thoughts, and actions of Nelson Mandela. I recognize he was no perfect mistake free person, but if I handled my mistakes as well as he did, I would feel very good about how I was doing as a person.

I hope his legacy doesn't get milked by propagandists as a trick for steering public opinion to do non Mandela things.

He changed the sick filled buckets they used as toilets in prison because he was never above compassion to people denied hospital access, that help build alliances among different factions of prisoners/ dissidents.

When the chips were down he did very well.

i loved the timing of obama trying to binary narrow option the spin: bomb syria or we have no other option and should not pass resolutions against gassing your own people. at the same time the figurehead of an actual democracy, Sweden, said they will open their doors to all syrians who want out or are already refugees.

the entire young generation of syria can be stuck in camps or can reignite the EU economy once they benefit from free world class education and worldclass healthcare... i wonder if some americans will start forging syrian refugee papers soon...

What about a gm guidebook 2 with different cultural frameworks and how they influence design, like a hierarchical punitive legal consequence vs. a egalitarian transformative legal consequence, or how visitors are received/perceived, or architecture as reflective of cultures druidic elves choices of wether to build and materials processes and placement usage different than a military fascist or mercantile slavery based culture,

Perceptions of time and division of labour, how animals and monsters, differing races fit into everyday life, relationships and rituals, ideas of what or who is ownable, or how connection to others is shown. City design guides and templates, development stages, levels of health within alignment like the enneagram levels and numbers, or looking at individual or societal moral development, maslows hierarchy of needs influencing bargaining, kohlberg gilligan stages etc...

Might be cool to see systems theory stuff too like down river impacts of mountain giants or large cities.

Public health events and how major events change culture... Like if your graveyard came up zombies one year would you really keep burying the dead or would you adapt.

What monsters are remoras on other monsters, what does a minotaur do to affect a local eco system. What are the rules around cross breeding races which can successfully mix and which wont work.

Inter party play, party dynamics and how to character generate balanced parties, thematic parties, more of how to make doing an adventure make sense.

How to do play by post games, how to do a short event campaign,

What about selecting food and music and props for various AP,s.

Just like the variety of drinks that might suit different races perhaps there are things that might suit smokers of different races. A plant based race might like the extra carbon dioxide, like a refreshing breath of clean air for a mammal. An insect type might like a cyanide laced smudgy flower cigar, and a earth dweller might like a loam tipped brimstone filtred spore inpregnated leaf roll. Could censures like they use in ritual churches be a way, o hookah, a shell filled with medicinal smudges or ritual use of purifying smoke in a bury the hatchet peacepipe?

I live in a place where smoking is almost non existant, but we have many aboriginal uses of smoke as a way to explore and express relationships and understandings of the world. If we let go of the hyper hygeinic considerations of our world then we might exlplore Golarian with richer options.

In crafting a character we love them in attention to detail, we test drive another reality safely, and in considering if and what they like to wear, eat, drink, sing along to and with whom, we use and build our muscle for understanding and having compassion.

I live in a country with socialized medicine so i understand the resntment against people drawing on the common purse with each pull on a cigarette, but this is a world of imagination, one of the great strengths of pathfinder as a game is that we expand our imaginations, explore realities that can be startling, beautiful, inspire xenospasms of mind bending adjustment and savour the sights tastes and smells of exotic realities, often carefully crafted and symbolically expressive.

A little advice from the 1660,s quakers might fit here advices and queries 17 an excerpt:

When ways are strange or disturbing to you, try to sense where they come from and what has nourished the lives of others. Listen patiently and seek the truth which other people's opinions may contain for you. Avoid hurtful criticism and provocative language. Do not allow the strength of your convictions to betray you into making statements or allegations that are unfair or untrue. Think it possible that you may be mistaken

the north they use to kill polar bears by sharpening a seal floating rib at both ends and bending it, freezig it inside a ball of blood and fat, they would leave that out and the bear would find the treat and eat it, they track the bear until the injury from the melted ball spring spike opened in its belly and it bled to death internally. no spells, no special weapons, a knife and an animal with soft ribs is all you need for that one. could work on large critters of any predatory quick eating type.
