I for one hope they go back to or at least offer in addition too larger APs that take the party from 1-20. The Shackled City campaign is what first brought the good folks at Paizo to my attention and I loved being able to buy a ready made campaign for my party.

That said I dont mind the smaller more regularly released APs provided they release some for mid and late game as well so that we can weave together a campaign that would take the party from 1-20.

I second that, I would love mid and late level (1-20 would be nice as well). As it is I am going to have to covert everything in the next APs for higher level play as my group has not desire to roll up new people to play.

Released updated the sheet. Added weapons, armor, armor upgrades, and augmentations. Other content released in Armory is still WIP. See the reddit post for more details.

Just wondering if there is any update on adding the rest of the armory to the sheet? Trying to roll up a dude with the Augmented archetype and would love to use your sheet.

newcyborg15 is in my gaming group.

WE'LL MISS YOU ON SUNDAY DUDE!

he's about to go on a trip and won't be able to update the sheet for a few weeks. he said he wants to finish Armory.

Thanks for the reply.

Since taking on the development of the adventures, I have come to think more about starship upgrades--when and why they happen--and the next two APs (at least) are sure to spell out the where the PCs can get their upgrades.

Brilliant.

I should be clear I haven't actually run it yet, so I may be jumping at shadows. My players do tend to become consumed by "you're under time pressure" hints though.

Oh you are not jumping at shadows at all. I am running Dead Suns right now and we are on book 5. My group forgot to even think about upgrading the ship with the groups avg lvl till book 4. The AP is so time focused with the grp constantly chasing whomever that it can be lost and the DM needs to remember to force in some stops to Absalom Station.

I am DMing the Dead Suns campaign and I am on the 5th book. To answer your question it really depends on how many people are playing in your group and what kind of players they are. What I mean, are they dedicated players that know their roles and are ready to play or is the game secondary to hanging out?

Anyway, for me with an Avg of 4 players (sometimes 5 or 6 have maxed out at 7) I can get in 1-2 combats per session (3 hours or so). Those to hit KAC/EAC on the NPC's can be pretty massive.

Ship combat on the other hand is long and for me as a DM REALLY boring. The combat IMO is not fleshed out like it needs to be and (at the risk of being redundant) is severely lacking. I am tempted to convert Battletech/Aerotech rules to SF as the current rules seem to be a half assed version of them anyway. Yes I am little salty on this as this should be one of the cooler and exciting aspects of the game and instead is a burden for me to DM.

Sorry for the digression.

Okay that was what I was figuring it to be. Cause to see it the other way would be broken as hell.

It should be noted that Biotechnicians get an extra augmentation at 12th level and Verthani start with an extra slot as well.

We are going to get some chromed-up bladeboi shadowrunners before this is all over.

Uh-oh... You got the ol'gears ah turning.

"Nested Augmentations (Ex) 4th Level
Whether it’s because your body is especially receptive to
modification or you’re able to adjust your modifications to fit
alongside one another, you can use more augmentations at
once than other creatures can. You can install one additional
augmentation into one system that already has an augmentation.
You can have no more than two augmentations in that system,
even if you have another ability that grants you a similar benefit."

Does this mean that you can add an additional augment to any system that already has one or does it mean that you can only double up on one system at a time?

I would like to see expanded playable undead as the Borais in the Pact Worlds didn't really scratch the itch.

Reading between the lines here, and feel free to ignore this because I'm fishing shamelessly: Have there been any discussion on or plans to make larger Starfinder AP/rules books in the future...?

Many. And there will be more. We nearly have that conversation anew every time we schedule a new hardback. (Softbacks tend to be more standardized sizes, though we also periodically investigate if those make sense at their current size). Very little is done here without some thought (and often a meeting or two) going into it.

However looking at things and discussing them often can't overcome the factors that caused the original decision to get made, and there's no point in constantly declaring "We thought about changing something... but we're not going to," so many things look unconsidered and monolithic from the outside, despite us reviewing and reconsidering and analyzing on a regular basis.

Awesome! Even if you don't implement changes it's good to know that you're keeping your options in mind when looking at the publishing schedule ahead. :)

To throw in my $.02, I love Starfinder's increased focus on hardcovers over more frequent softcover material like the player companions. I feel confident that the material will be kept up to date with FAQs and erratas, and I don't feel as overwhelmed as I did when I initially tried to keep up with the Pathfinder publishing schedule and was bombarded by bi-weekly releases. However I really wouldn't mind seeing more pages added to the SF hardcovers. Alien Archives is a great book but it feels a little light, especially if you compare it to the first bestiary.

I'm also a little concerned that my groups seems to be going through Dead Suns books faster than they're being released. I've picked up the first book of Legendary Planet as a backup in case we run into a "gap month", but I'm less than thrilled with the idea of putting Dead Suns on hold - in my experience players tend to get excited...

I 100% agree with the AP release time. It is takes to long to release and the AP's are not long enough for groups that can play almost every weekend.

The Borais IMO is Paizo's way of creating an "undead" PC while not having to reinvent the wheel to deal with Con. Am I happy with their solution... Not totally but I was more than happy to roll up a Borias (Android) Technomancer. My question to anyone who wants to answer is, what would be your solution to con?

The main church is in the Drift.

They retain a bit of their soul so they have to eat, breath, and sleep. But if their past life was an android that didn't breath then does the new form need to breath. Or is that all over written as the only aspect of being an android being carried over is the additional upgrade slot? In other words, while "alive" you where an android, human, or whatever; but now in your undead state you are Borais which is a separate "organism"?

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

I have the pdf already and reading through it I have a question about the PC race Borias. Under Racial Traits there is the trait "Old Talents" which allows you to retain a racial trait from your "former" life. Example (and where my question comes in) Android (upgrade slot), but if I pick Android do I also get the benefits of not breathing etc?

I rather have the one book, but would have them do two different sections (one for PC and one for Non-PC) instead of having them mixed together.

PC Haan cannot fly, the web balloons only come into play with their slow fall ability.

EDIT: Slow Fall: Reaction, extraordinary ability, and functions as Flight (spell cast at 1st level).

Status has been pending for around 4 hours now. I called and left a message but i figured I would post on here as well. I am trying to figure out what the holdup is.

The XP is divided.

That is awesome, can't wait to spend a bit more time with it. But, just doing a quick fly by of it, it is great!

I agree, it bothered me reading the CRB and it said 5 miles. It is a pretty underwhelming size for such an important focus for the system. My imagination had this thing much larger.

Bump

I think I might already know the answer to the question, but here it is. I cannot find a random encounter table in the core rule book; am I missing it or is it most likely going to be released with the Alien Codex book (whatever it is called)?

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought when buying gear you can buy within 2 lvls up without breaking anything. Of course that means at the starting 1,000 you would not be able to get very much or quality other gear.
