Zzzz... *Snore* Zzzz.. Yes.. you are very beautiful... *Snore* Drooling on his pillow, after the first night of sleep in a bed after weeks in the field, Kamal rubs his eyes at the crash of glass into the room. He stumbles out of his bed, trying to regain a sense of his surroundings. Between the still vivid dream of a lost city with beautiful women deep in the jungle who had never seen a man before Kamal and the blast of glittering light, the jungle guide was unsure what was happening. Then he spies the man crouched in the window holding a crossbow and the mwangi reacts in defensive anger, conjuring a rolling ball of fire at the open window, blocking entrance into the room. Dammit! That was a good dream, Gah! Why do I always get woken up in the middle of the good ones!

Ah Joy.. Kamal said mostly to himself at Gelik's offer to bunk with him. I'm sure I'll learn several new fart jokes before the night is through. The druid said with a kidding tone in his voice.

Snorting in laughter despite himself, Kamal gives a warm smile towards Gelik's antics before shaking his head with a flash of ivory teeth. Ah my friends. The main caravan may be safer, but it is not nearly so entertaining. Don't get me started on Nkechi’s antics while you were away. The man takes such pleasure at being sky-clad that he had begun to embarrass even Kassata! Laughing again at the memory of the half-mad druid, Kamal stifled a chuckle before taking a deep breath out. Its' good to be back with the forward group.

Pushing his way into the Shrunken head tavern, Kamal sighs with relief. The trip between the main group and the forward scouts had taken several days. However, thanks to luck the druid had managed to make it back safely.

Reaching the inn, Kamal sights the rest of the group seated around a table talking to a grizzled dwarf. With a tired wave the dark skinned man pushes his way towards the table and sits down on a threadbare seat with a sigh.

Well my friends... I am going away on business. I won't be able to access the pazio forums for a while. I will return but due to the nature of what I do it won't be for a while. I will be active on the boards when I can access the fourms so I will check in, but it will be sporadically. I am sorry that I have to fade into the background for a bit, but I will return.

Pointing up towards the sky, Kamal frowns. We might have a problem. Those larger vultures are known as Geier's. They tend to be more aggressive and while the smaller vultures won't attack, I suspect the larger ones are more likely to. We should ready ourselves incase they do. I'll try to ward them off of us, but if it fails, then it will come to combat.

GM, I will try using wild empathy vs. the Geier's as soon as they get within 30' feet it will be a DC of 17

Stretching out with his connection to the primal world, Kamal touches on the predatory senses of the creatures. He tries to warn them away, but rather than placating them, the foreign intrusion seems to enrage the creature. Uh.. yea... that didn't work and now they are angry! The druid yells, taking a half step back.

Nodding, Kamal glances towards the sky. Scavenger birds like that are often drawn to things that are either dead or dying. Its possible a large corpse is in the area. Kamal shrugs. It's hard to say. I could try to drive them off with the power of the elements if you wish, but they might return.

Ah.. Well it depends if the colony is mostly underground and if there is a queen. The druid shouts, peering towards the furrows in the ground and trying to recall whatever he knows about the beasts. I don't know! The guide says at last. It could be only a few or fifty of them.

Male Human (Mwangi) Druid (Jungle Druid) 4 AC 20/12/18 / HP 29/29 / F +5 R +3 W +9 (+4 vs animals and disease) / Init. +2 (+2 in Jungle's) / Perc. +12 (+2 in Jungles))

Lookout! Kamal shouts while pointing to a burrowing field of earth that is quickly moving towards them. I don't think they are going to be placated by my ability. We will have to deal with however many remain the same as the first one. The druid grimly states. Directing his orb towards the creature, Kamal sighs. They had marked the group as prey. They would learn differently.

Nope, I would have to roll a 19 or 20, making it a 10% chance with them being magical beasts and all. I'm just going to burn it.

Quickly stepping back, Kamal raises his hands defensively. I swear it wasn't the spell, it was angry already! Kamal shouts (perhaps a little too hastily) before summoning up a whirling ball of flame atop the creature.

Careful, its an Ankheg! Kamal shouts, raising a hand. I might be able to dissuade it from attacking if i'm lucky. If not, watch out. It has a dangerous bite, and it can spit a caustic acid once every few hours if it is threatened. Slowly, Kamal moves forward and raises a hand in a non threatening gesture. Calling upon his link to the natural world, the ebon man searches out for the connection with the beast trying to calm its fears and tell it that the group means it no harm.

Thank you wise one. Kamal replies with a short bow before picking up his pack and slinging it over his shoulder with one hand while the other hefts his spear. We are glad that we could be of service to my people. Turning back to the others, the jungle guide nods. Are you ready to set out, then?

Dismissing the spell so the others can run out of the hut, Kamal attempts to summon a ball of roiling flame adding yet more fire to the vocal blasts hurled from the mouth of the inciting gnome. Unfortunately at the last moment, Kamal stumbles over the words and the spell fizzles with a blast of hot air and a *pop*

Staying inside of the hut but behind Torch, Kamal is shocked by the sudden deafening bang as the crack of the thunderstone fills the air. Seeing the beast just outside of the doorway, Kamal carefully judges the distance. Despite being deaf the Mwangi guide somehow manages to focus just enough to complete the spell. Suddenly outside of the hut, the low laying vines that snaked along the ground of the jungle village come alive, lashing and thrashing as they are animated.

Seated in the hut, Kamal kept his back to the wall, farthest away from the door. The rubber from the local tree had been easy to find and harvest and within an hour he had fashioned crude but effective protection for the rest of the group. The night drew on and the Mwangi guide felt the fear start to come upon him. The beasts were supposed to come in the dead of the night and knowing that they would be attacking him as bait did nothing to make him feel better despite the fact they were doing it in order to protect a village of his people.

Shaking his head, Kamal sighs. The blessings of the wild do not give me such power. I might be able to call forth a giant spider or ant that would be too stupid to understand fear, but I cannot protect you from its scream. Nodding thoughtfully, Kamal rubs his chin, However, if one cannot hear the scream, you could not be affected by it. Turning back to the shaman, Kamal gives a thoughtful stare. Are there any rubber trees around that I might harvest from before the sun sets? If we can dampen the roar, we might be able to protect ourselves better from it.

Kamal's ivory white teeth glint inside of the thatched hut. So the creature will be drawn towards us tonight then? Sighing the guide rummages through his bag seeing if he might have anything useful. At least it will come for us and not one of the villagers.

Easing his way past the others, Kamal remains silent as he studies the group of caravanners and guardsman that are clustered around the roadside.
