Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Nightflier, do you mind making this game inactive, then? Looks like no one else is around. Thanks!

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

sorry to hear, nightflier. Take your time.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

"Stay with us for now. If danger comes, we'll know it soon enough."

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

"Indeed, Reth. Let's move out and get questions while we travel. We have our orders."

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

"Serenity, ask our friend Gromaldo how many units this Eliza commands," says Jeren quietly.

"We will have to take him with us, or we risk being discovered. As it is, she will send another force to find out why Gromaldo's failed. Let us proceed with haste, and scout the rear to make sure that we aren't followed."

"And get him to show you his trinket," Jeren adds. "Let's find out its properties. If it's a tracking device or an explosive, we'll need it handed over."

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

"Agreed. Let's move out. Lethe, can you hold the prisoner?"

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

"Then it is our want, or wont. You'll remain bound. What is your name and why are you here?"

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

"Our sympathies, wretch, on your failure, then. Serenity, is the jewel or whatever it is dangerous? We cannot kill him in cold blood. Scar, Rhuuk, bind him and he will walk tethered to us." Jeren levels his hammer at the creature's face, ready to strike if he tries to attack or escape.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

here!

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

"Host. Give it NOW!"

Intimidate: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Jeren points his hammer at the man's arm but swings it a bit clumsily as he does so, perhaps a bit off-put by the Mournland.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

"Reth, do you detect it as magical? Point this bauble out. Lethe, thank you."

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Jeren shakes his head (in agreement). He motions to Rhuuk. "Bind and search. Break or take items. We don't slaughter prisoners, and anyhow, we have a destination to get to."

"Gag him as well," he adds as an afterthought.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Jeren detects evil, his face grim. He walks over to the arcanist. "Tell us your name and purpose and we'll show mercy."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

1d20 ⇒ 3

Hope this isn't the Wandering Damage Table...

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Jeren pulls out his lucerne hammer and strikes at a rat-thing.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

swish! Must have gotten it tangled in my crossbow strap...

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

did we all just take 8 points of damage? o.0

"On the caster, Lethe! Host blast it!"

Same initiative order?

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

"On the caster, full fire!"

Jeren lifts his crossbow and fires.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Deadly Aim and Point Blank Shot cancelling each other out

Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

"Ranged weapons first, then forward to punch a hole! Focus your fire! "

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

I was just looking up how orders are given in a squad or fireteam; we fall numbers-wise right between them. In a fireteam, there's "Ready", which are the scouts, "Team", which the leader, and "Assist". I'd say Scar is auxiliary "Team"; if Jeren is incapacitated, Scar takes over, or if the team is separated. (Lethe and Rhuuk are Ready, Serenity and Reth are "Assist"...I think.) Orders are generally 'do as I do'--no order given, just follow Team, but if you want to do something, just speak up.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

"Give us a bead, Havoc!" Jeren doesn't see the constructs, but notches an arrow.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

also, Detect Evil.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Waits for Rhuuk and Lethe to post

"Fall in! Eyes and blades out!" Jeren's voice rings clear through the murk.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Rhuuk, Lethe, me, Serenity, Scar, and Reth in the back? Am I missing anyone?

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Welcome back, Reth!

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Waiting is fine. Any way we can split our discussion threads for clarity?

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Here.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Do we have campaign threads yet? I know they aren't working well elsewhere.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

He may need to clear his cache.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Ed. Gru-ber-man. You must meditate further on the serenity of Ti Kwan Leep.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

I attack the darkness.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Hey Nightflier, I think the tabs are somehow discombobulated. Our discussion tab goes to a different Eberron discussion, or something, with folks from the Xen'drik team discussing their character builds.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Say, this reminds me of Six Characters in Search of a Playwright, or whatever that play is called.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Other way around, Scar--we have two clerics. Which is great for us if we get nasties thrown our way. Incidentally, a company this size is usually run by a Sergeant (and debriefed by a Staff Sgt), but we can hand wave that. I can go as Lieutenant. Anyone opposed to having Scar as second in command?

"I don't think there are any straight lines left in the Mournlands," says Jeren with a distant smile. "May the Host preserve the souls of Cyre," he adds reverently.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Well, here we are. Does the Xen'drik group get any clerics? :D I assume we stopped at the supply depot for food and drink.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

"Yes, sir!" Jeren gives his sharpest military salute.

Can you post the links for each discussion thread? I found it by searching your latest posts, Nightflier, but it might be hard to find for some.

Male Human (Karrnathi Paladin (Oathbound: Vengeance)/Level 1

Checking in.

It's probably a glitch, Raelc; the other day the Paizo.com domain was glitchy all over. That sucks! Nightflier, do you exile the eggcaster to Xen'drik because his palantir was broken?

Of course Mournlands is the popular choice--everyone designed their characters for a Mournlands Sellswords trip, and we don't know what will happen in Xen'drik.

Mournlands.

Welcome back! :D

Takes a while for the glow to wear off...

I stopped reading once the

Drrzzzzzt:
big angry barbarian died. I hear he comes back. Moved on to Bassingthwaite and beyond.

Crap or crepe? Just watch out for the twin bladed drow sous-chef. He will cut you.

Hey Serenity! Prior experience can make for some good roleplay interactions. Yeah, either campaign will involve harming and healing, right? :D 2 more days until nightflier flies back, and then we shall see!

True, Zechariah--a well-motivated group can keep things afloat.

Rhuuk, the feeling is mutual--I just didn't want to alienate others by saying "we are a team! nyah!" ;)

Although...I wonder if the 10 day hiatus will cause interest to wither? We shall see when nightflier flies back!

I have to say, though, a bunch of military groups in the steamy, deadly, haunted jungles of Xen'drik sounds very, you know, like certain movies with Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sigourney Weaver in them. :D

Gotta love internecine struggle!

A few things occur to me. One, none of us is optimized for Xen'drik (are we?). Although, it's not too hard to shift over. (pun not intended.) Two, we only have 11 people admitted, which doesn't reach Nightflier's requirements for 2 parties. He may reconsider that; after all, smaller parties run faster in PbP. To continue on that, I'm not sure we really have 11--we can't be sure that people won't drop out due to delay, not making a character, etc. The more we chat and weigh in pre-play, the better, I reckon--this will help us know who's really here.

Yes--Reth is of the Silver Flame, which, I believe, will also annoy the (other) shifter characters in turn. ;) Jeren follows the Host and is one of the Karrnathis who doesn't like the use of undead--something mentioned by the ol' Hellcow himself somewhere.

Taking these various conflicts into consideration, I don't think you could have two parties free of squabbles, but that's what makes for good role play as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

At least no one is playing an Inspired.
