Paëral moves 30’ east and readies a shot if the giant should appear…

"I don't speak giant, but I certainly got the sense that talking wouldn't be an option anyway." observes Kylee.

She draws out a wand and casts 'Bless' on the party.

Deric feels Kylee's bless flush over him as he runs toward the pit.

Barkot follows Deric towards the pit, albeit more slowly.

Double move.

Squint sets his lance for a charge and has Ulyi trot up to an appropriate spot.

”Stay out of my charging lane! If you want, I can end the pit spell now, or someone can start shooting a giant fish in a barrel!”

Readied charge.

People move forward. A spell is cast. Squint moves and readies a full round action. Maybe something happens in the pit, maybe not?

Deric slows his pace to a walk as he draws a spear, retaining his greatsword in his off hand.

What can I see from 10 feet away? Do I have a shot at it? Will complete turn when I get those answers.

It is a 30ft deep pit. From 10 ft away, you see earthen walls.

Seeing only earthen walls, Deric moves north of the pit so that hopefully someone will flank with him later.

“OK, Soralyon, I gotta ask you for some protection here if we’re gonna fight this here giant.”

Barkot casts shield of faith (+3 deflection bonus to AC for 12 minutes) and moves closer to the pit.

Kinda freaked out by neither hearing nor seeing the giant, Paëral warily moves forward towards the pit…

Squint maintains his readied charge. The giant remains in the pit.

Kylee moves to get out of Squint's way, then waits for something to develop.

Barkot moves up to the side of the pit opposite Deric, but back a step to avoid the risk of falling in with the giant.

As Barkot passes by, he can see that the giant is still at the bottom of the pit, holding the throne up above itself.

Paëral moves up towards the pit beside Barkot. Following his friend’s eyes, he whispers, ”I don’t have a clear shot…let’s position ourselves to attack when the pit spell ends…”

Deric takes a completely defensive position. "Ready here."
AC 25 for one round

"Oh, great. He's probably gonna hit one of us with the throne when the spell wears off."

"Paeral, you should take a shot," Squint calls out. "That giant will not avoid attacking us once the pit de-materialises."

Seriously, Paeral should take a shot.

In the meantime, Squint buffs Ulyi with a spell.

Casting celestial companion on Ulyi.

"But mightn't he fall in if he gets too close to the edge?" asks Kylee.

Not much changes. The aggressors in this confrontation gather around the pit where they have captured their unsuspecting prey, waiting for the right time to pounce and end the life that has so deeply offended them.

I really don't wanna get smacked in the face with that throne.

Barkot decides to make an attempt at diplomacy, and calls out to the giant in Thassalonian:

"Heus, vir magnus, vos certus vos volo ut belli? Servi tui mortui sunt: ​​sed nunc si dedere, ambulant posses adeo auferat. Ut animum vobis addamus beneque bona fide nos dimittet vos de medio foraminis."

Pit's gonna end pretty soon anyway, so may as well make it look like we're trying ta make nice.

The giant replies in its language. The tone sounds more like a command this time.

Kylee looks to Barkot and sadly shrugs, as if to acknowledge he did his best.

Does the pit end in round 7 or the beginning of round 8? Want to make sure if I try a shot into the pit in this round (6), I’ll have round 7 to fire and move away…if I don’t fall in…

The pit will end at the start of Squint's turn in round 8.

To try to prevent a potential ranged attack, Paëral will attempt to sneak quietly to the edge of the pit…

"Steady, everyone!" Squint calls out.

Putting this here so I don't forget: Barkot cast divine favor on his turn in round 1, so with a duration of 2 minutes (normally it's 1 minute, but extended because of the reclusive curse), I think it should expire at the start of his turn in round 21, but it could also be the end of his turn in round 20? Not soon, at any rate. His shield of faith lasts 12 minutes instead of 6 for the same reason.

Barkot looks nervously over his shoulder at Squint. "Almost time, right?"

The half-orc readies himself to step forward and swing at the giant as soon as Squint's pit spell expires and the giant rises back up to floor level.

Kylee waits expectantly.

Deric maintains his defensive posture.

The pit ends, and the giant is slowly pushed to the top. With your first good look at the giant while standing, you see that she is likely attractive among her kind. While Large, she has a significant hunch, making her shorter than you might expect.

While startled, she appears ready to dodge.

Barkot takes a 5' step to be adjacent to the giant (hopefully providing a flank for Deric when he moves into position) and swings his sword.

As Barkot swings, Squint urges Ulyi to charge.
