Jacen stares at the carvings on the wall and at first dismissing them as something beyond his knowledge; however, despite his dismissal he was reluctant to look away. He examines them closer and that's when he spots the deeper carving of certain symbols. "Some of these symbols have deeper scouring marks. Perhaps there is some meaning behind this? Syndir, what do you think?"

Jacen begins to examine the relief more closely to determine if there is a pattern to the strange patterns. "Perhaps we may find some answers to this strange place..." he whispers.

Yikes! Hey guys, terribly sorry. I didn't see the other posts from Terquem up there. I'd been having issues with the new post indicator coming up for a while I had been waiting for an update from Terquem. I just started my shift, but in a few I'll look over the posts better and have a post of my own!

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen nods to Elise and begins to scan the area to ensure they are not ambushed again like last night. 'What are we doing here...?'

Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

No problem, Terquem. I think we've all been very busy lately. I believe you'll still have us around as long as you're still active.

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen trudges along with the others, his usual silent, brooding self. He ponders over all the recent changes; the strange dreams and feelings, the fact that he's not even sure if the person they're here to save even exists, the flooding. "Agreed, I would like to find drier land as well. I don't want some nasty snake sneaking up and biting me."

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

I'm in agreement with the others. Sorry I haven't been around... internet issues and what not.

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

No worries Terquem, life always takes precedence over RP every time! I apologize for how long it took me to finally get a post in.

Jacen groans as Elise nudges him awake, but then sits up with a start at the urgency in her voice. He glances around with an irritated look, blinking the sleep from his eyes. There did seem something was off. "I... well... Perhaps you're right."

He then seems to notice his wounds still appeared fresh, as if they never even healed over. He removes his wand from his belt pouch... UMD: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 and lets out a sigh of relief as the healing spell works magic upon his wounds.

As the others begin waking up they all spot the temple was sinking. 'I do not like this one bit. We need to hurry and save... Wait...'

He quietly follows Elise up to the roof. "Elise, what are we doing here? I mean... why are we here? I can't remember who we are here to save."

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Sounds good!

I will also post my action as well, since I don't know what type of night I have in store for me at work... lol

Seeing Elise reeling from the foul breath of the goblin snake Jacen prepares his final attack. "Don't give up on me now, Elise!" The rogue leaps forward, slashing his blade at the goblin snake's neck. Jacen's aim is true and his trusty weapon connects with deadly results; his blade slices deep into the back of the snake's neck and bursts clean through out the front, nearly severely the creature's head completely and spraying foul blood towards poor Elise.

Jacen stands still as the warm blood splatters and the creature flops about before laying still. "Come."

Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 29
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 27
Damage: 2d4 + 3d8 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1) + (5, 1, 7) + 6 + 4 = 27

Critical hit! Hot dawg! Finally get to do some damage around here! Okay, this time I made sure my attack actually hits... (sorry about last post...) and given that Jacen's damage is higher than the goblin snake's max HP, I thought I'd take a little liberty with my post and kill off the snake with a dramatic flourish.

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Yeah, not sure how I screwed that up. I apparently misread the goblin snake's AC... my bad Terquem.

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Going to go ahead and post my action rather than wait on Keelah as I highly doubt her actions will effect Jacen's now that he's got flank on his snake... SA!

Jacen lets out a clipped cry when the goblin snake bites down hard onto his arm, the creature's fangs piercing through his armor. He is able to wrench his arm free just as Elise tumbles into the melee, directly behind the creature and score a solid blow! He quickly follows up with a devastating jab with his kukri to the snake's heart!

He nods at Elise and takes a moment to examine his wound. "Nicely done. To the others!"

Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 14
Damage: 1d4 + 3d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + (8, 6, 7) + 5 = 30

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen dodges to one side as the goblin snake's mouth snaps shut mere inches from his arm. In a fluid moment Jacen draws his kukri and takes a step towards the snake. He slashes his blade at a retaliatory attack; however, like Jacen the snake dodges the attack.

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Move action to draw his kukri and then a 5-foot step to E4. And a miss.... next round for Feint! And with a DC of only 12... even with the -4 penalty I only need to roll a 6 for a successful Feint. Jacen can finally shine... About time! Yay!

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Jacen has Uncanny Dodge so he is not considered flat-footed. As far as AoO go, he is a little screwed due to the surprise round.

Jacen startles at the ogre's sudden shout and he turns quickly to see what the large fellow was shouting about. He spots one of the snakes and recognizes it as a goblin snake, though somewhat different from ones they had encountered in the past.

He hears something behind him and jerks his head back around to see another snake slithering towards him! His abilities at sneaking and skulking keep him from being completely unprepared; however, it did slow his response to the attack in general.

Also, my 7 month old son is quite sick and I'm staying home from work today and tomorrow. He's on nebulizer treatments every 4 hours so if I'm slow to post... feel free to NPC Jacen. Next round he'll draw his blade and attack the goblin snake. After that Jacen will feint to gain Sneak Attack on any snake he is not flanking.

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Sorry I didn't have my post up yesterday. I was planning on posting; however, my in-laws' pipes burst in their basement last night so I spent most of my night helping them out.

Also... Paizo dice roller utterly hates me.

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen rubbed the sleep from his eyes as he was awoken by Azana. He tried to recall the strange dream he was having; however, try as he might to snatch at any figment they disappeared all too quickly as they always seemed to. His eyes fell upon the sleeping form of Keelah nearby and he remembers a flash of her crying in his dream. That brought upon another strange feeling that perhaps he never made a wish back at the 'other' temple.

After another moment of reflection Jacen dragged himself from his bedroll and made his way to their perimeter. He spotted one of the ogre fellows sharing his watch, he was pacing and terribly quiet. Jacen took a deep breath as he looked out into the darkness of the night, trying to shake off the eerie feeling that was creeping down his spine.

Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen will take second watch then. Boom.

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

I'm ready to move on. I can't speak for the others, but I suppose I thought there was more to this encounter (i.e. clues about what to expect further into the campaign or something).

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen nods at G'rafky's words. "You would do well to maintain that ill feeling. This is a... dangerous and misleading place. Perhaps it is now you and your comrades that are the great heroes to your people."

'Don't forget why you're here, Jacen; Timothy.'

Jacen listens to F'lagjorn as he explains their plans to G'rafky and the other ogres. "You would have my thanks, F'lagjorn and G'rafky. I believe this agreement would be mutually beneficial. It will be nice to have somewhere safe for my companions and I to rest our heads every night." He shares a rare smile with the ogres. "But be ever on your guard in this place. Expect every strange sound or movement of leaf and grass to be a prelude to an attack. Beware the uncanny silence as well..."

He waits patiently while the rest continue to scout the roof and return with their report. 'What an odd encounter...'

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen listens thoughtfully to the ogre.... a country full of ogres with firearms. A terribly troubling thought. And yet, these ogres do not appear to have the same inclinations as the local bloodthirsty monsters of Jacen's world. "Your people sound to be good people, very much unlike those of our world. You appear quite cultured, which I must add is very refreshing considering." Jacen realizes he does not know the ogres name. He offers out his hand to shake with the ogre. "I realized I do not know your name. Nor you mine. I am called Jacen. What is your name?"

Jacen finds himself very intrigued by these ogres despite his purpose in being here in this temple.

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen listens intently to the ogre's depiction on their reasons for being in the temple. The locations the ogre mentioned are not familiar to Jacen and he believes these lands are from another world... or at least another continent. "We do not know much of the temple either. We have... our own reasons for being here, unlike that of your own. We do know there is allegedly a dragon of some sort that calls this place home."

He pauses, unsure on how to proceed with his next statement. "I believe you and your fellows have been brought to our world from your own. I do not know anything of the places you've mentioned to me. I am unfamiliar of them at all, unless it is a land yet undiscovered... Are there no humans from your world?"

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen smiled beneath the scarf still covering his face as the ogre looked away first. He waited as Elise also followed the others into the building, leaving him alone with Harland. The gunslinger had been extremely quietly of late and that worried Jacen. The man had never been the most vocal of the group, but never this quiet.

Jacen began to feel quiet exposed and decided he wanted to learn a little more of these ogres. He approached them slowly with a nod. "Tell me, what brings you all here to this temple?"

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen had that strange feeling of someone's eyes upon him as he watched Azana and Syndir disappear into the building. He found himself wondering what Elise was up to and realized he may inadvertently look her direction. Therefore he decided to watch the ogres, and noticed three of them were paying him no heed; however, the fourth ogre was watching him intently.

Jacen gave the ogre a short nod of his head and began to act of if he was searching the vegetation for more enemies. When he turned to look back at the ogre he found the monster still staring at him. That made him extremely uncomfortable. This is why Jacen always preferred the shadows to an open field. This time Jacen did not look away, but rather met the ogres eyes with his own and held their gaze. It was an age old primal game of dominance; the first to avert their gaze would be the submissive.

Jacen did not submit to anyone.

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen remained ready to act as Azana spoke with the ogres; however, the parley appeared to be going well. He was getting restless as they all waited while Syndir and Azana prepared to follow the ogres to heal their leader. Jacen joined Kaleeah while they waited, he looked to the druid. "I don't like this... what are they doing here? This is different than before. I hate surprises." He grumbled.

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen stops in his tracks and signals the rest of the party to stop when he spots the ogres. Unfortunately before he even has a chance to say anything he realizes he has also been spotted, by the ogres. He tenses to make a dash into heavier foliage, but somethings stays his movement. The ogres weren't attacking yet, thankfully considering the firearms they were carrying.

Hopefully they haven't spotted Elise yet, she continued to creep forward. If Jacen could just keep their attention on him. He slowly raises his hands up, though keeping a grip on his blade. He was not good at parleys, Jacen could whip up a believable lie at the drop of a scarf, but diplomacy was not at all his strong suit. "Azana... perhaps you could be of assistance here?"

Normally Jacen loathed drawing attention towards himself; however, Azana would be their best bet at avoiding unnecessary combat. Not to mention if Elise could get closer to the ogres, that would prove highly beneficial.

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Despite being happy to be out from that foul tower Jacen's thoughts inexoerably drifted back to that one day... He keeps close to the party, but off just enough he can try to sneak through the underbrush. He groans inwardly at all the racket the others made as they walked nearby. 'With all this noise, the dragon likely knows we're here already...'

Even so, he agreed wholeheartedly with Azana. If the dragon was indeed above ground they would have no protection against her poisonous breath. Trees and pillars would be great protection against fire and cold... but poisonous gas could seep into every nook and cranny. He tightens the grip on his kukri at that thought.

Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen dry heaves as another wave of nausea assails him when he spots the fruit... "I don't care where we go at this point, as long as it is far from this tower. I do not know if I can stand this smell much longer."

Before anyone can respond, Jacen begins making his way back towards Kaleelah. He watches the druid as he walks past, back towards the open door of the tower. He leans his head out, takes a deep breath of somewhat fresh air, and looks around (Perception): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20.

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen seems to have finally gotten his vomiting under control, though the horrible stench seems to be a constant issue to the half-elf. It takes all his willpower not to empty his stomach again, which distracts him from all other actions. Even so... he decides to follow Azana up the stairs after Elise makes her way back up from below... The rogue keeps a weary eye out for danger.

Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

As Jacen steps into the tower he unfortunately takes a deep breath and immediately regrets his decision as the stench fills his nostrils and lungs. He suddenly finds himself emptying the contents of his stomach onto the tower floor... to mingle with the already foul smell.

Afterwards he wipes his mouth with the back of his hand and pulls a scarf up over his mouth and nose in an attempt to block out the smell; unfortunately, it does no good and the stink stays with him. Jacen finds himself wishing he'd just let Elise scout the tower...

Fortitude: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen looks around, but keeps his weapon handy... he especially keeps a weary eye to the doorway of the tower. He decides to scout the tower while the magic users do their thing. "I'll scout the tower, make sure there's no more surprises waiting for us..."

With that Jacen will slip into the tower quietly (Stealth): 1d1 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13...

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen puts his weapon between his teeth and jumps: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21 upwards to grab ahold of the ledge. He pulls himself upward as he slips in behind Elise. He removes his kukri and takes a short step to the left.

Standard action to jump up the ledge. 5-foot step to -A20

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen crouches low and begins moving forward, drawing his trusty kukri as he does. He moves all the way to the end of the walkway, keeping one eye to the top of the walkway in the event one of those creatures attempts to drop down upon him.

Jacen will double move to go all the way down to -A22.

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen has grown tired of the arrow game... He stows his bow, and takes a step to the east. He glances down at the short distance to the walkway below... With a little skill he hops down to the walkway below. Perhaps he can change the game a little now.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Jacen shakes his head at how this has turned out... he'd said it before... stealth... He was becoming frustrated at not being able to reach his enemies with his blade. That's why he was most deadly... up close where he could whisper in their ears, just before his blade ripped into their backs...

Azana's song of courage suddenly picked up Jacen's spirits! He puts another arrow to the string, draws it back, and takes aim at the newly arrived large enemy. He lets the arrow go with a sharp snap!

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Male Human 5th level Rogue | HP 31/34 | AC 19 | T 14 | FF 19 | CMD 18 | Fort +1 | Ref +8 | Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +12 | Intuit +9

Archery was not Jacen's strong point, so he takes aim at the smaller creature in currently engaged in a melee; he didn't want to take the chance at hitting his friends... Before firing he takes a quick step forward to bring him closer to his target, takes aim, and as he lets the arrow fly... he knows it will strike true!

Five foot step to I20. Attack against C20.

Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

These actions are assuming the creature hasn't died from Azana's attack... If D21 dies from Azana's attack, then Jacen will attack -A20. To save time I'll post the rolls against -A20 if that's the case. He moves forward to I20.

Jacen takes a single step forward as he draws another arrow for this bow, putting it to the string, and takes aim at the closest dazed creature. With a sharp snap, the arrow shoots over the others in front of him towards its intended target.

Attack vs. D21: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Damage vs. D21: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Attack vs. -A20: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Jacen moves forward twenty feet, squeezing around Harland to get closer to the creatures. He draws back the string to his bow and takes aim at the nearest creature not engaged by Elise and Syndir. With a prayer to Calistria he lets the arrow fly with a sharp snap of the bowstring!

Moving to J21. Attack against E21. Now... he hasn't acted yet in combat, he should be considered Flat-Footed, correct? Just want to verify as I'm a little rusty.

Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Jacen holds back his smart remark about stealth as the monsters come pouring out. Instead he tells the others where he had spotted the shot coming from. He readies his arrow to fire ...

Jacen curses and ducks when he hears the first shot. He draws out his shortbow and nocks an arrow to the string as the second shot rings out! He glances around trying to locate the source of the shots as he quickly follows behind Syndir. "Come! The tower may give us a better vantage point for attack!"

Jacen will typically use his Perception as his primary awareness skill.

Jacen was his usual quiet self as they approached the Temple Compound. His gaze swept over everything, taking it all in at a glance. His thoughts echoed that of the others; similar and yet, different. What did it all mean? Honestly, Jacen didn't even care anymore. The only thing that mattered was attempting to save their fallen comrade... he dare not think what would happen to them all if they failed. The price would be higher than any of them could fathom.

Elise Emeria wrote:
"Don't be such a worrywart, Harry. We did just fine charging into the building. It was the charging out that was the problem. I say we head straight up those stairs from the west to the top of the temple, then work our way down."

Jacen felt his anger rising, and he was able to bite it back enough not to scream at Elise. He couldn't mask the fury showing in his amber colored eyes as he glared at the little one...

"Did just fine?" His mocking voice cut through. "Perhaps you should tell that to Timothy. Let me find him for you..." Jacen looks around for a moment. "Oh... that's right. He's dead.

He turned away from Elise to address the others. "I'll not do it your way... not this time. I told you all last time, but you wouldn't listen. Well, you'll listen to me now. Careful and quiet is the way this needs to be handled. Scout the temple grounds and see what lies ahead."

He got quiet suddenly. "I don't want to have it happen again... I don't want to see any of you die like Timothy..."

Okay... short of looking for other items to buy... Jacen is finished and character sheet in his profile. I've got 946 GP left over. Any suggestions on what to spend it on?

Hey Ter... sorry I haven't posted my wish yet. Been having some newborn complications. I know what the wish is going to be and a drawback, but coming up with making the drawback work mechanically is where I'm coming up short.

Barring anymore issues tonight I will post Jacen's wish. Also... should one of the rogues have disable traps?

Hey guys... still here and interested! Been very busy with the little one but I'm still in for the long haul. I'm going to post wish in a little bit when I get home. And Jacen is a knifemaster build so he doesn't have trapfind either lol. Soooo... we can talk that little detail out.

In reference to that... I've been thinking of maybe going straight rogue instead. Thoughts?

Faelyn here! Alias setup. I'll work on fleshing out his background tonight at work. Also... just FYI my wife will be giving birth to our son very soon. So if I don't post something for a day or two... that's why. Still very interested!
