Isadriewen smirks with annoyance at Garavel. "Perhaps a 'please' would be in order. Let's get one thing straight, Garavel, we're not your hired mercenaries. I, for one, will not be responding to your orders. Now, why don't you try asking again with a bit more politeness and mutual respect?"

She stares expectantly on Garavel.

"Not my best work - I must still be unnerved over that pugwampi! Well, at least we'll never forget the view from this campsite, such as it is."

She offers the painting to Lark. "A gift, my friend."

Isadriewen gratefully accepts the cloak. "Fighting for another's freedom is never the wrong thing to do. Almah's resistance to releasing Faffnyr is what troubles me about her. We cannot allow ourselves to be used by her for unscrupulous motives. I'm walking if this story about the village turns out to be a trick."

Isadriewen begins applying shades of blue and ocher to the canvas. "I like how the moonlight casts the rolling sand dunes in a ghostly light. I find that the desert presents the most interesting scenes at night."

Isadriewen will stay up and will talk with Lark by the camp fire. "What a strange day. First the burning wagons and then the whole situation with the goat. What do you think is going on here?"

Isadriewen begins setting up her easel and paints. "And another thing, I'm not sure if I fully trust our hosts. Garavel brought us here under false pretenses and Almah seems to have some sort of hidden agenda. What do you think? Can we trust these people?"

Isadriewen shrugs, "I'm many things, but I'm no slaver. My mother was a slave - I could never let another person endure such a fate. I understand your fear Faffnyr. I hope that one day I will earn your trust."

Isadriewen helps Lark prepare the camp. "Should we keep a watch tonight?"

Isadriewen will help the others search the burned wreckage. Upon seeing the dead fortune teller, she pauses and turns away. "There is so much death in these lands. Life seems to be fleeting in the desert. Why did this man have to die? What dark prophecy did he foretell before the flames engulfed him?"

Isadriewen's mind wanders back to the harrow card that came whipping from the flames. The cyclone ... a portent of war and destruction.

Isadriewen says a prayer to Shelyn for the fallen man and then leaves to speak to her new friends, Almah and Garavel. "What started the fire? did you see anything? Please help me ask the others."

Isadriewen will speak to each of the soldiers and will attempt to recount what they saw in the moments before the fire.

Isadriewen places a hand over her eyes to block the searing light of the mid day sun. The day is no time to travel in the desert. The ibex forages at night. The desert wren hunts only under the moon. And yet our guide leads us into the wastelands while the sun is still at its zenith. The price for such mistakes in the desert can be death. What do I know of Garavel? Can he be trusted?

Isadriewen scans the desert scape in front of her. The symmetry of the dunes is beautiful. No where in Golarion can dunes like this be found. If only I had my easel ... "

The half elf thinks back to the beginning of the journey. She had been looking for a guide to take her into the the wastes. Isadriewen was an artist and her muse was the desert. Her livelihood depended on finding new scenes to paint.

It was coincidental then that Garavel had stepped into her studio. He had feigned interest in her paintings before letting it be known his knowledge of the surrounding lands and his expertise as a guide. Perhaps her friends had shared her plans with him. Or perhaps the man had deeper designs for her. A man with an agenda was nothing new for Isadriewen.

Isadriewen was tempted to follow her instinctive wariness of strangers until the man described the Sultan's claw. The image of the giant tree rising against the backdrop of the endless sand dunes intrigued her. Such unique scenes were the stuff of great art. Perhaps this would be her masterpiece.

Isadriewen wiped a bead of sweat from her brow and sparingly sipped from her diminishing water skin. She used the moment to evaluate her traveling companions with an artist's eye. An armored fighter, a half orc priest, and two secretive humans. What possibly could have brought them into the desert. Hopefully they have better motives than your fool muse! Isadriewen smiled and then continued her slow, plodding march through the dunes.

Ahead, a claw shaped tree became visible in the wavering desert air. A mirage? No, this must be the tree. As Isadriewen's eyes came into focus she now saw the wagons in the distance. Something is burning! Isadriewen broke into a sprint.

The wind that pushed against her felt like a blast furnace. Burning debris pelted her and her traveling companions. Suddenly a cartwheeling harrow card came flipping at her and lodged itself in her exposed, heaving cleavage. Isadriewen pulled the card out. "It is the cyclone. It portends war and destruction. This is a dire omen!"

Isadriwen looks at the burning wagon and does not hesitate. Fire, my old friend, I've come to visit you again. She then moves to grab a blanket to help put out the flames. She attempts to organize the onlookers around her to assist in the effort. "Smother the flames! Quickly, before they spread!"

Woot! Remember, what happened at the Comely Ogre stays at the Comely Ogre! I'm looking at you Lark :)

Isadriewen, now thick into her cups, drinks her final pint of ale. "I do believe I'm drunk!"

And with that she gets up and begins to dance once again to Arian's melodious tune.

Isadriewen sets up her easel, canvas and paints. As the others continue their conversations, she carefully positions the easel to allow her to capture everyone sitting around the table. Once she is happy with the setup, she begins to apply her palette of oil paints. In broad strokes, the scene begins to come to life on the canvas.

First to appear is the dark stained wood of the tavern backdrop. Next she paints in the carousing ogre over the bar. She smiles as she emphasizes the comely ogre’s over sized features.

The first of the group to be painted is Okaris. Isadriewen depicts the bard reciting poetry to the group. Blue pigments capture the bard’s robe and jet black paint colors his hair and mustache.

Next comes Arian and Naatme. Arian soulfully plays the seran while Naatme claps to keep the beat.

Isadriewen continues to layer on paints and now the forms of Riceak and Faffnyr come to life. The two men appear to be animated in a passionate argument.

At the head of the table sits Lark Baker. The paladin holds up his finger as if making a point to the group. His silver holy symbol of Iomedae gleams in the fire light.

Lastly comes Rorx. The veteran’s battle scars can be seen crisscrossing his face. The half orc’s brooding visage has a quizzical look as he holds up what appears to be a picture of purple and green cactii.

Isadriewen smiles as she turns the painting around for the others to see. ”A heroic party indeed. I believe that fate has gathered us to this tavern for a reason. Drink well tonight my friends because I fear that tomorrow fate will test our mettle."

Isadriewen smiles at Lark. "The tattoos are exquisite, are they not? One of the benefits of having artists as friends is that I know several talented tattoo artists. Oh, I've tried to ink a tatoo, but I confess that flesh is a wholly different medium than canvas. Canvas tends to bleed less and does not complain nearly as much over the final results!"

She laughs to herself and takes a long drink from her ale. "You ask the meaning of my tattoos? Its complicated. The flames and verdant scenes represent my conflicted nature. The orchids represent artistic beauty and creativity. The flames represent my driven and mercurial nature."

Isadriewen pauses and stares long at the candles burning low on the bar room table. "Honestly, the flames have a deeper meaning. Have you ever had a recurring dream? A dream that comes back to you night after night and leaves you pondering the boundaries between the waking and dream world? I have such a dream. In the dream I am in a land of fire. The flames infuse my tattoos, my art and my very world view."

Isadriewen stops and finishes her drink. "But perhaps it is the ale that is speaking now. My art has always spoken better than I. The bartender was kind enough to hold my easel and brushes behind the bar. Would you all be kind enough to allow me to paint you?"

Isadriewen drops back into her chair after dancing with Okaris. The sweat glistening on her forehead is testament to the physical exertion of the dance. "You got rhythm, my friend. I haven't seen anyone dance like that since I came in from the desert. Where are you from?"

She nods her appreciation to Arian. "You made the setar sing beautifully - bravo! Did I overhear that it is a family heirloom? Tell us of this genie! Your great-grandmother must have been clever indeed to have won such a fine instrument from a genie."

She motions to the bartender to bring more pitchers of ale to the table for the group.

Isadriewen nods to Lark, Ozmid, Faffner and Naatme. "Greetings friends! More drinks - well done, sir. It's a party now!"

With that, Isadriewen drains the flagon of ale in front of her and rises up to dance. Slowly she sways in time to Arian's haunting melody. She closes her eyes and allows the rich, hypnotics sounds from the seran's strings to embrace her. As the beat pics up, Isadriewen transitions into a traditional Keleshite belly dance. Her exposed arms and legs sway suggestively with the rhythm of Naatme's clapping.

Isadriewen laughs and smiles at the dawnflower dervish, "Well met Okaris. We should not speak lightly of slaves in these lands. I have many fugitive friends whom are hunted by the bloodly slave lords."

She eats a handful of the figs, "Delicious! Do you dry them yourself?"

Isadriewen nods at Rorx, "I will show you what I painted today. The contrast between the different variants of cactii coloration is breathtaking. I know you'll love it."

Isadriewen raises her eyebrow when Arian mentions the setar. "A musician! Can you play for us? I'm almost drunk enough to dance!"

Isadriewen smirks at Nickadeamus and laughs. "Aye, I have some of your Keif right here! Have a seat! This ale will just have to do for the moment until your dealer shows up. And I do hope you're buying for the rest of us!"
