Sapphire dragon

Mmmm that interesting,
I also like the idea the Sapphires are the most militaristic of the Gem.
With well trained army and under them. They come over as kind of sudo-Spartan in nature. Move that on to a setting of Tech and you get a kind of
Techo-Spartan race built around clans. Commanders and war leaders over more softer Gems.

Nice write up of Them here

Sapphire dragon:

Breath weapon: Cone of panicking sound
Terrain: Inner Planes, underground
Alignment: Always lawful neutral

Notes: The sapphire dragons of the Io's Blood Isles control subterranean domains beneath two of the larger southern islands. While most of the territory above their realms belongs to the emerald dragons, they keep a small portion of the surface area as their own as well as the extensive caverns beneath the tropical jungles.
From birth, sapphire dragons are beautiful, with scale ranging from light to dark blue in color, which sparkle in the light. Because of their coloration, they are sometimes mistaken for blue dragons. Of all dragonkind, perhaps the sapphire dragon clans are the most militaristic. They fervently protect their territory from outsiders, going so far as to distrust anyone who even gets close to their borders. They work to keep their vassals in peak fighting condition, maintaining some of the best-trained armies in the isles. As most of the territory that interests the sapphire clans is below the ground, they rarely come into conflict with other dragon clans unless they attempt to take caverns currently in use. Only the black dragons compete with them for the tropical underground, and even they are wary of going into direct conflict with the armies of the sapphire clans. Most of the demihuman vassals serving the sapphire dragons are either dwarves or gnomes, as these races have no problems living and working beneath the ground. Also, elves are too much like drow, whom these dragons consider to be one of their natural enemies. Dwarven vassals are treated little better than slaves, as the two species were once at war, and they are almost never granted the kindred bond. This honour is usually reserved for gnome only. Giant spiders make up most of a sapphire dragon's diet, and great hunts are conducted through the subterranean tunnels to find these delicacies. When a dragon lord feeling particularly lazy, it will send its Dwarven vassals into the tunnels in search of the spiders. Of course, they must capture the spiders alive. While militaristic and warlike, the sapphire dragons are not quick to attack. They prefer to observe intruders (all visitors are intruders) so that they can plan how to deal with them. If drow or Dwarves from another clan approach, they are immediately attacked. Others can often at least make some gesture of friendship or parlay before being told to leave. If a sapphire dragon or its treasure is ever threatened, it attacks immediately with its breath weapon, spells, and physical attacks. It uses psionics and special abilities to escape if faced with a more powerful foe. Sapphire dragons take a single mate for long periods of time, however sapphires seek to possess a mate to enhance their prestige and status more than other reasons

In this setting the Idea being they would be very capable for the mass space combat that is the kind of norm for the Empire.
With uniforms troops, ships the works with in their sub-culture for the Gems.

Sapphire dragon

Long term gem dragon holding PC here.

Kind of like the Crystal, but also like the idea of Pisonics with the Sapphire
So going with Sapphire.

This is the holding PC for a future Gem Dragon.

The merchant vessel Zintare sits in the docks of New Stetven awaiting the final loading of its cargo. You have all recently boarded the vessel, each making the trip to Silverhall for your own reasons. As the final crate is placed into the hold, a noble woman and her guard walk up to the boat, speak briefly to the captain and board the boat. She is escorted into the captain's cabin for the voyage. There are no other cabins on the boat, just a general gathering area. The trip to Silverhall should only take ten to fourteen hours depending on whether or not the winds are favorable.

Shortly after the noble woman boards the boat, they draw up anchor and let out the sails. It appears Gozreh looks favorably upon this voyage as the boat moves quickly out of the harbor and speeds to its destination. You feel the chill wind as it comes off the water and draw your clothes closer against the chill.

Zaxarii:
You recognize the noble woman who boards the boat as your cousin Elanna. Your mother didn't inform you that she was heading back to Silverhall, so you have no idea why she is on the boat.

I will give let you roleplay meeting each other at this point, and we will move the story along as it makes sense to do so.

Welcome to the Brevoy Buccaneers OOC. Is the name too cheesy? We'll start out by talking about backgrounds and goals. Once everyone has checked in, I will ask questions of everyone to establish exactly why they are on the boat that we'll be starting on. I also want to know what areas of Brevoy we want to explore. I have some ideas, but I'm interested in what others are looking for. Eventually we may venture out of Brevoy, but that's further down the road. I'd like to start the game thread by Monday or Tuesday.

Liberty's Edge

Is there anywhere to find some pre-made encounters? By that, I mean something like a group of bandits to place against a level 1 party. Not adventure sites. I seem to remember seeing this in one of the books somewhere but can't for the life of me find it.

I am looking to start a PBP campaign based in Brevoy. The game will start with all PC's on a boat sailing from New Stetven to Silverhall. The PC's may or may not know each other, we can work that out based on backgrounds submitted. This will be a sandbox style campaign. I will have some stuff prepped in advance, some done ad hoc based on choices made by characters, and may even throw in pre-made adventures if they fit.

Recruitment will last until Friday Sept 2.

Submission requirements
1. Submit a detailed background including where the character is from, if not from Brevoy, why are they there? Why are they traveling from New Stetven to Silverhall?

2. Character Sheet - No need to worry about inventory prior to selection, but you can do inventory if you want. I will allow some changes prior to game start if needed.

3. Are you currently in one or more PbP games? If so, how many? I will give preference to gamers not currently playing in another game since competition seems to be fierce. However, I will make sure the party works well together class wise.

Character Creation

1. 25 Point buy (I'd rather err on the side of characters being extra powerful than not powerful enough)No stats greater than 18 or less than 8 prior to racial modifiers being applied.

2. Core Races only.

3. All official classes/archetypes from official Paizo sources allowed.

4. No evil characters.

5. Max HP at first level.

6. Starting gold will be max for class.

7. Two traits.

-Please be able to post at least once per day. If you are going to be unable to post due to a planned event, let me know prior. I will run the character for that time period if necessary.

Let the submissions begin.

Liberty's Edge

I haven't purchased the Stolen Lands book in the Kingmaker AP, but I read there is a gazeteer of Brevoy in it. How does that compare to the one in the Inner Sea World Guide? Is it worth purchasing just for that section if I want to start a campaign set in Brevoy?
Thanks for any info.

Liberty's Edge

How do you start a new campaign? Assuming first level characters, what is the best way to bring characters together? Whether you create your own adventure or use premade, how do you guide the characters to the prepared adventure? Do you ever just wing it?

Liberty's Edge

For those of you that run your own campaign in Galorian, where do you run it and why? I'm thinking of starting a campaign and am just curious as to what others are doing.

It is the 4th of Neth. Last night, the mayor announced that tomorrow the quest to the Crypt of the Everflame will be performed by the young people in town that have come of age. They will be accompanied by a newcomer to town, a dwarf of unknown origin. The five townsfolk: Atia, Vahn, Tulip, Alanthion and Brother Onsal wait alongside Jan in the townsquare.

The bells atop the Temple of Erastil toll their midday song,
echoing throughout the quiet town of Kassen. As the peals
begin to fade, the first of the townsfolk make their way into the
square, dressed in black, as if attending a funeral. They slowly
fill the square, moving quietly across the cold, hard ground,
their eyes downcast and mournful. After a few moments,
a murmur passes through the crowd as it slowly parts to let
Mayor Uptal through. He leads the way with a tarnished silver
lantern. Behind him, an old pony drags a cart laden with
backpacks and supplies.

Once he reaches the center of the crowd, Mayor Uptal stops
and calls out to the assembled townsfolk. “Once again the
winter winds blow through the Fangwood, marking the end
of another harvest. There are wolves in the woods, howling at
our walls, and serpents in our shadows, waiting to strike. Just
as it was one hundred and seventy-four years ago, when Kassen
himself left these walls to protect us, so it is today. Where are
the heroes? Where are the brave folk that will venture out to
Kassen’s tomb and retrieve the flame to keep this community
safe for another winter?”

Let's get started on some character concepts. I'll post some info on the module so you can come with some background info later today.

This is my first pbp as DM, so I thought I'd start with a module rather than an adventur path and see what happens. I'll accept the first 5 applicants and create a waitlist from there. This will be high fantasy (20 points) buy for determining Ability Scores. All classe and races from the Core Rule book and APG are okay as well as the Magus class if someone wants to try it out.

I've never DM'd a Pathfinder game, and it's been a few years since I've done 3.5, but luckily pbp gives me time to look up rules if needed. I'd like to try for a once daily posting time. If you already played Crypt of the Everflame, let me know. I won't necessarily disqualify you, but if you are one of the first 5 posters, I will shift to the waitlist to allow room for someone who has not done the module.

Let the posting begin.
