Considering it coincided with the Chelish civil war, I'm starting to wonder if Asmodeus or Achaekek did it. Perhaps Asmodeus saw Aroden as an upstart mortal who didn't deserve godhood.

I am suspicious of Asmodeus too, however I have an inkling feeling that pointing fingers at Asmodeus is maybe a bit too obvious for something shrouded in so much mystery like the cause of Aroden's death. However I was not expecting anything major in terms of information on the subject.

How does the mesmerist look compared to its playtest counterpart?

Is there an occult ritual I can perform to make my PDF appear quicker?

Hey James,

I am currently planning an occult themed adventure for my group in the fall, but as of right now I am trying to look for the best location to stage such an adventure. Naturally I have a few questions on the subject. I understand if future book releases may prevent you from answering some of these, but anything helps.

1. Does Ustalav have a large amount of occult activity?
2. Where in the inner sea would one find the largest concentration of psychic magic users?
3. Is necromancy considered occult at all?
4. If you had to stage an occult game where Golarion would you choose to place it?
5. Does the church of nethys have many psychic magic users?

Thank you in advance!

Variant class abilities intrigue me....

EDIT: Does that mean variant class abilities are something completely different from archetypes?

From a GM perspective, more simple templates are always welcome additions to the game!

With these new variant combat rules give martial characters more choices in combat than just running up to and hitting their enemies?

And can we apply these new rules to monsters without having to take too many feats or adding extra class levels? (The GM in me wants to know)

If a sequel were ever to be published...I would insta-buy it.

I have been following this class for awhile, do to the lack of there being a 1/2 bab full divine caster within the pathfinder game. Why this type of class doesn't exist in Paizo's content could be a multitude of reasons, namely. I have typed up a few of my thoughts,

There are a few challenges with making this viable:
First being that for a full divine castor to stand on his own (without being combat oriented like a cleric or oracle, since that is what I perceive is the goal of this the class), the spell list needs to be a bit more up to par with the Wizard list. Adding a limited number of arcane spells for the priest to have at his disposal is probably the best way to shore up some of the weaknesses outside of giving this class it's own list (which is a total pain for 3pp to have to update every time Paizo publishes new spells). Brenguar, I tip my hat to you for innovation.

Second is keeping the class tied to deity's portfolio. Since Domains are ,generally, better suited for characters that wade in and out of melee (something this class doesn't want to do), a new mechanic that works similar to the way domains do, but benefit the priest with powers that are better suited to the casting role, dogma's fit the bill very well, even if they are a bit weaker than what a domain does for a cleric.

The alignment restriction is a little awkward but I see where you are coming from, Lay on Hands is very much a good flavored ability and shouldn't be at the disposal of non-good characters, and it doesn't feel out of place on a good aligned priest at all. Perhaps allowing an evil priest to take Touch of Corruption (as the antipaladin ability) and giving neutral priests the choice between the two (similar to how a cleric gains all the inflict or cure spells) would help with this. I like how this ability can be used at range as well.

Other than that, you have some nice mechanics in here that make this a very flavorful class (something I personally hold in high regards with any class).

One last minor note for your consideration is changing the name of the class from Priest to something like Apostle. Mainly to avoid confusion with the warpriest class that is on it's way.

Keep up the good work Brenguar, and don't let any overwhelmingly negative comments get you down!

Yes, sorry for not including this in my first post, but you are a very generous individual and thank you very much for your act of kindness. :)

This is by far my least favorite of the ten hybrid classes. Personally, I don't see there to be any reason for this class to exist at all, but that is a separate issue entirely.
My question is (and I apologize if this has been answered already) whats preventing an arcanist from using the arcane bloodline to make familiars/bonded objects appear out of nowhere?
It also would be great if they got bloodline arcana, then we could see some very interesting options like having a wisdom based caster from the Empyreal bloodline.

Yeah the Arcanist leaves no real reason to play a wizard. I feel there needs to be something more to differentiate the two.

I was hoping for more health and a much more martial focused character. I would welcome the removal of spells from this class in exchange for more performance abilities and such.

I second the change to a d10 hit die, perhaps a full bab as well. With the class description I thought of this as a much more martial oriented character.

This class should draw more on the inspiration than is currently written. Honestly this looks like a merged version of the Vivisectionist alchemist archetype. I'm still digesting this class so this is just my initial impression.
