CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Iamb will aid gunnery attempts using encouragement. Using Encouragement to add a bonus to gunnery.

Gunnery to Aid vs. AC 10: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 Successfully aided the first gunner's first attack.

Okay, Here's the quick breakdown on starship combat:

*There are three phases in starship combat: Engineering, Helm, and Gunnery. These three phases are conducted in order by all parties of the combat, and once all sides have finished with the phase, the combat advances to the next phase.

*The PCs each take a role, which has a key skill and a phase of combat in which they act. The roles (with their key skill and phase) are:

1) Captain (Any Phase; Any of the other skills or diplomacy; limit One)
2) Pilot (Helm Phase; Piloting; limit one)
3) Engineer (Engineering Phase; Engineering)
4) Science Officer (Helm Phase; Computers)
5) Gunner (Gunnery Phase; BAB or Piloting)

The Captain can act in any phase, because their actions are primarily support based (they can encourage someone who is going to act, primarily through using aid another).

You can change your roll before the engineering phase, but no one can take the pilot or captain's chair unless it's empty.

The actions for each role start on page 322 of the rulebook. Keep in mind that some of them require minimum ranks in the key skill for that role (or diplomacy, in the case of the captain).

A typical round goes something like this:
The engineer boosts a system or repairs shields; The science officer scans, redistributes shields, or improves gunnery; the pilots roll opposed piloting initiative checks (each round, as it becomes important) then the slow ship moves first, allowing the ship with the better initiative to attempt to position themselves in such a way that it puts their biggest guns where in a place to fire on the enemy; finally, the gunners fire and the process begins over again.

That's the nickel tour. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I'll post this in the discussion tab, as it'll be a quite a info dump.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

If people would like, I can go over the ship rules really quickly.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"We're here hunting raiders and pirates. You know where we might find some of those?"

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"We should prepare to attack them, since they're what we came all this way for." Over the intercom, Iamb booms "Get up ya lazy bums. Time to make that money! Battle Stations!" with that, he gets up from weapons control and takes the captain's seat.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Iamb will eye the captain's chair, then move to the gunner's position.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

We want to make the girl with grenades happy, yessiree!

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Iamb is not a great pilot. If anything he should be a gunner or engineer. Did we settle on a captain?

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

In deference to Glory, I thought we were going to start with the scro problem.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Any Volunteers? If not, I'll do it.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Iamb looks around.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

1 person marked this as a favorite.
CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"Yes, my mother thought she was sooo clever. My brothers names are Iama and Iamc."

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"I'm guessing Glory is probably an expert."

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"Given the little amount I know about her, we might as well take the job for the scro ship. It'll make Glory happy."

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Iamb begins checking out the weapons.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Iamb claims a room, drops his stuff in, then goes to bed.

I am posting this to all my games (apologies if you see this multiple times):

I am going to be out of town for an work conference that I was asked to go on last minute. I will be out of town through Friday (the 27th). There will be internet a the hotel, but the schedule will be really hectic and I won't have a lot of time to post.

Please bot me if I am in your game, and if you are in my game, please note that I will probably not be making an update until Saturday at the earliest.

Apologies and thank you for your patience.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"I'm not saying we have to go hunting my brothers right away. We can do some work to get better gear and a good working ship first."

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"What do you know about Ravenloft?"

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"I don't have any leads at all. This was my first stop after I managed to get off of Athas."

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"Yes, I'm looking to find my brothers."

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"So we should probably have a discussion about what we want to do now. We have a ship, A Goblin-made one but still a ship. I know that I have a concrete goal that drives me, but what about the rest of you? Do you want to band together as mercenaries or adventurers, or would you like to go your separate ways? I mention all this because we could probably look at fixing up the ship if our goal was to stick together. It would give us a certain amount of autonomy and mobility, but if we plan on splitting up then we should probably just sell it and get something else. I'd like to get everyone's opinion on the matter."

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"Fair enough." Iamb will then proceed to tell them everything that happened as he knew it.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Because he would ask:

"If you saw everything, why would you ask us what happened?"

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Iamb hauls the rest of the junklazers he found inside the ship out and says "We should definitely turn over the drugs to the authorities along with collecting our bounty on these" he indicates the junklazers before continuing "That way, at least we won't be arrested for peddling drugs."

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Iamb will immediately start looking the Goblins then move towards the ship to search it.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Iamb will again fire a pair of rounds at two different Goblins.

Full Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 111d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Damage Roll (Acid and Piercing): 1d8 ⇒ 21d8 ⇒ 6

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"That'll make it easier to wipe them out. Thanks Heavy!"

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Sorry, I meant feel free to apply my attack above to this round.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Sorry about that. Drop me in at the appropriate time.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Iamb again attempts to attack a couple of the "normal" (with Goblins, there is no true normal) Goblins, while again slowly advancing.

Full Attack on two different Goblins: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 151d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Damage Roll: 1d8 ⇒ 51d8 ⇒ 4

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Iamb will put some rounds into Goblins.

Not targeting the boss, but will move forward to try and make himself a target.

Full Attack on two separate Goblins: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 91d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Damage Rolls: 1d8 ⇒ 31d8 ⇒ 8 Damage is Acid and Piercing.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"So, what does your eye in the sky see?"

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Iamb puts on his best "Mess with me at your own peril" face and begins walking point, quite literally clearing a path using both size and intimidation. While it's obvious that he is armed, he walks about as if he feels completely safe.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

I'm also fine with a short stop to get him armed properly.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"Seems pretty straightforward, and this is good advice for everyone: don't miss, and don't get hit."

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"Kick in the door and kill them all. Seems pretty straightforward to me. Goblins are terrible shots on the best of days, and since we're coming for them, today is not their best of days."

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Or headbang to hammer things into shape?

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Iamb puts his mark where indicated.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"Fine, let's just get this over with."

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"Gods save us from copyright people. Please, no nicknames. Why not something simple and straightforward, like Adventurers for Hire?"

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"I don't have a commlink. Mine broke the first week I was on Athas, and I had to use it's parts on the ship I found."

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Cultures (other member of team Icon): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

What is Elai known for? I'd like to work it into conversation.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

Iamb is about to introduce himself when a large floating billboard proclaiming Deathbowl's five greatest matches! Watch now! and a picture of him and a couple of other men with a strong familiar resemblance fighting a group of what appear to be minotaurs across a blasted urban landscape. The footage is clearly a few years old, but that is definitely him.

As it is floating behind him, Iamb will say "I am Iamb. Nice to meet you all."

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"I'm looking for my brothers, and I don't know any of you at all." says Iamb.

He starts to walk away, thinks for a moment, and then returns and says "Okay, how about this: I don't really have any leads on my brothers at the moment, and I could use the bits, so what say we find some mercenary work?"

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"That was odd." says Iamb as he stows his rifle, then also starts looting the Goblin corpses.

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

As the Goblins leave, Iamb immediately and subconsciously reloads his rifle. As he does, he will look at the bartender and say "Does this sort of thing happen often here?"

CG Mul Soldier (Icon) 1

"Anyone ever tell you you scream a lot?" says Iamb to Heavy.
