in the Pathfinder rules, is there an easy way to tell if a magic item is available in a community or not? So when my players ask (as they do all the time) "Can I get a dancing longsword +x in this city?" I roll some percentile dice (or whatever) and am able to answer afterwards?

Essentially, yes. Page 460-461 in the Core Rulebook contains the rules and the tables for this.

Thanks!

I was thinking more of a backwards approach though. With the presented method I´d have to create magic item lists for all towns and cities. Since our characters travel a lot, this would take too much prep time for me. I was hoping more of an easy way to tell if a certain item is available or not.

On a related note, what do you answer when your players ask if it´s possible to have an item created in a city and how long this would take?

I´m probably blind but after skimming through the book I couldn´t find answers to these questions. I´d be thankful for help!

If not, how do DMs handle this?

Also I´m wondering how much of their starting gold player characters should be allowed to invest in magic items. Are there rules for this? Or if not, how do people do it?

Ah, one more question: Is there a map available somewhere with all the locations where the Society Adventures take place? Thanks!

Ah, there is a Pathfinder Society board! My fault...

Great help so far, thanks folks!

To answer Doug Doug´s questions, we´re playing Pathfinder RPG but I´d have no problem converting from D&D 3.5 on the fly.

Right now I´m especially looking for adventures for Level 8. But planning ahead for the next campaign I´m looking for cool short Lvl 1 adventures.

Will check out your recommendations now but am of course always thankful for more of them.

Cheers!

Looking for some nice short adventures for my group and stumbled upon the Pathfinder Society Scenarios. Problem is there are sooo many! Could anyone help me finding the coolest?

Oh how I would LOVE a Savage Species type book for my Pathfinder!

Has this ever truly worked?

Just looking for new ways to improve my gaming experience...

No I haven´t. Any chapters you´d recommend over others? (We won´t be playing through a whole AP).

Hi,

our group recently played Tower of the last Baron converted to Pathfinder. It was our first Paizo Adventure and the players enjoyed it VERY much. Now I´m looking for other modules with an infiltration and/or assassination vibe. My players used to play a lot of Shadowrun so it´s not hard to tell where they got it from...

So my question is: Are there any other similar Pathfinder/Pathfinder Society/Gamemastery or AP modules around? Or maybe ones from the old Dungeon Mag?

Also, does anyone of you run or play games that resemble a mixture of Shadowrun and D&D, with adventures feeling more like runs?

Answers to this thread are very appreciated.

Cheers!

Blood.

Wow, look what I just found:

And it´s free!

But the title is cool! Don´t change it.

Beware. If you do, your mind may shatter.

Already happened ´bout 21 months ago.

Congrats, Matt!

BTW I like the classic sounding name of the module.

Great news, Clark! And sounds very similar to my own experience.

BTW what I was thinking about this earlier: Could it be profitable for Necromancer to release their best modules again converted to the Pathfinder ruleset? You had so many classics in your line (my favourites were sandbox goodies like Vault of Larin Karr)

Cheers!

Also it could be nice letting them decide for themselves IF they want to be cured!

This is such a wicked idea that I'm tempted to steal it, and I would probably work out the background story and then wait and see, what the players decide before doing any more.

Wow, haven´t even thought about the possibility that the characters might consider remaining undead when they get the choice. But you´re absolutely right.

Oh and steal away, it honors me of course! (Although I´m pretty sure someone must have done this before)

Right now I am thinking how to run this adventure soon (as in, next week or so). I don´t have the time to create everything myself so I am looking for adventures that might fit into this premise. Any ideas? One from Dungeon or Gamemastery, perhaps?

The Thread about Castle Ravenloft got me thinking about this adventure concept:

The adventurers are summoned to an ancient graveyard. People have gone missing from the small village nearby. There are rumors that an ancient evil has emerged from one of the crypts. Just as the player characters walk down the stairs leading to the crypt, we

- CUT -

to the characters that awaken in their coffins. Warriors in mail, crusader types, open their coffins, eager to slay some vampire tonight. The characters have no clue how they got here.

So the main adventure would resolve around the characters having to find out what happened in the crypt dungeon, how they became vampires - playing out some of the dungeon in flashbacks - and how they can return to their mortal selves. (Since actual vampires are a little too powerful I´d probably use vampire spawn.)

So what do you think? Railroady as hell? :)

Montalve, is the 2nd edition module that much better than the 3rd edition one?

Wow, overwhelming chores for Ustalav.

BTW the group is in west Andoran right now, close to the coast and the border to Cheliax. It would be ideal if I could place it not too far away since they´re already at the supposed level for the adventure. Although im ok with skipping some traveling.

Hi there,

I want to run the "Expedition to Castle Ravenloft" adventure with Pathfinder. Has anyone tried this? And where should I place Strahd´s castle? My Golarion-Fu is very weak unfortunately...

I´m also very interested in your basic experiences with this module. :)

This has been very helpful. Thanks a lot!

I will probably get the first installment and see if it hooks me. Further down the road however, I´m very excited about Kingmaker.

Thanks again and please keep it coming if you have more to mention.

"New rules for turning exploration into a different kind of adventure, by James Jacobs."

I´m curious about this. Has anything more detailed been mentioned about these rules?

Anyone dare to spoil the hook?

Almighty Paizo Community, I´m looking for some insights...

So far I´ve read the product descriptions for this AP but I´m still not sure if it´s for me or not. So my very basic question to those who have read it or even started playing:

How do you like it?

How does it compare to the other APs?

And what seems problematic?

Will there be a table with random mongrelman mutations in the Bestiary 2? I´d love to see one just like the one for Tieflings in Beyond Doorways. That would be cool.

Really hope there will be Spellweavers in this one. Or a cool replacement monster if Paizo can´t do them (which I have no clue about).

So how large is 32 panels?

Since I completely missed out on Rise of the Runelords, I´d really like to see a more classical AP sometime. Orcs, dragons, dungeons, you name it.

Oracle is fine.

What I really enjoy about this discussion is the thought of wand rifles surviving as one of the early game´s oddities till many years from now in the heads of Pathfinder fans. So in 2040, some nerds will still be talking about how back when the game started off their mages proudly swung their wand rifles at foes. Then younger fans will go YOURE KIDDING YOU OLD FART and walk straight out of the virtual whatever store.

These things enhance a nerdy sort of shared community feeling that makes me warm inside.
