"You might want to come through Guidance's code as well," Hawthorne tells Naiaj. "Historia made some disturbing comments throughout that ordeal."

He retrieves the two junkbot grenades from the older Dataphiles' belt. "Best loot our enemy's corpse," he says. "It seems he was used to covert missions before he was lost behind the Godshield."

Preemptive GM Adjudication Request:

Quote:
Instead of combat tracking, your exocortex can access another computer system within 20 feet, allowing it to attempt a Computers check against that computer each round, using your skill bonus. This counts as a standard action for the purpose of the Computers skill. You must remain within 20 feet of the computer system for the entire time your exocortex is interacting with the computer. If the task requires multiple actions (or even rounds) to accomplish, you can spend your actions to work in concert with your exocortex, counting both your action and the exocortex’s effective standard action toward the total time required. If you don’t have the remote hack class feature, you must be adjacent to the computer to attempt your checks.

This may not actually come up, but I wanted to clarify ahead of time to save time if it does come up: I read it that Hawthorne forgo Combat Tracking to take his full round's worth of actions while Sophia uses her Wireless Hack to hack things in combat (computers, turrets, robots, etc). Do you concur? Thanks. :)

Upon arrival at the Cortex and entering to find a more distract than usual Historia-7, he arches an eyebrow.

"Intriguing idea, but I don't know if that would work," Sophia replies to his thoughts. "Mundane idea, but it may at least provoke a reaction."

Is she facing a monitor?:

Spoiler:

Not requiring answer but I just can't keep it in anymore so many months after meeting Historia-6 in the last MTS: How does Historia-6 exist? There certainly have been enough outside influences sticking their fingers into the Starfinder's archives lately, Hawthorne comments. Are we likely to need artillery in the Cortex or is this more of a technical mission?

"I'm ready for both," Sophia adds.

At work

We are usually working ‘unofficially,’ Hawthorne replies in chorus with Sophia. And usually for Historia.

Hawthorne looks over at the clatter of the hover cart being pushed through the doorway and raises an eyebrow.

"Performing? Oh, dear, I hope not."

Hawthorne tinkers with a particularly insidious worm before setting it loose into the closed testing system before beginning to work on redesigning and deploying real-time countermeasures.

"Ziggy needs our help," Sophia interrupts, triggering a series of neurons in his brain from the insular cortex to the angular gyrus.

What? Hawthorne replies mentally. At least, that is the word that manifests in his brain, but to his inexorably linked exocortex the underlying meaning and context was immediately apparent.

"You heard me and you know I know it," his AI replied. "I live in your brain, remember? Yes, Ziggy's assignment could wait until you finish, except that he's never messaged me directly before."

That's unusual.

"Right."
