Liberty's Edge

If anyone could point me to star-finder published content that has political intrigue I and my players would be very thankful! Can be 3rd party. I could also maybe adapt something from non-starfinder but that's not by preference.

Another spoiler tag, players be warned:

Spoiler:
My players refuse to finish off Irovetti. They've learned he's evil, rescued Evindra, had all the foreshadowing since book two of Nyrissa, but they don't want to recover Briar or defeat his kingdom. They are happy to just throw his armies back without going on the offensive. I've thought of a few options, and I don't really like any of them so I've turned to the hivemind:

1. Evindra says "no you need Briar, really, go get it. Do whatever with Irovetti, but apparently I wasn't clear enough, stop dicking around and go get the artifact."

2. Irovetti just hands over Briar eventually, and PCs go through book 6 on the struggle bus without it.

3. Blooms start to get them off their ass. Combine with Irovetti turns over Briar or maybe slow down blooms so they can go get it?

4. Blooms that begin in Pitax, Irovetti uses Briar to defeat then allies with the PCs seeing the Nyrissa isn't planning to leave him anything? (Assuming he's less crazy than as written, and does this to keep his kingdom)

Sorry if this is answered before, but since bard and entertainer both say you become trained in perform, and I think you can't become expert at level one right? So doesn't this punish an iconic combination? Can you become trained in something else when class and background overlap like that? There must be a bunch of other examples too.

At the request of someone else on the forums, I statted up some animal companions for all 20 levels using google sheets, which anyone is welcome to use or add to. One is comment only in case a troll deletes the public one.

Does pathfinder have way too many rules? Did you want a cool concept, but have no idea how to make it and don't want to bother your gm? Look no further! I love making characters. Provide as much or as little detail as you want and/or optimization level and I'll make you a character. I might get lazy on the math but all options can be filled in for you ^.^

How would these stack? Say you took 3 levels of World Walker and 3 levels of warden - how many favored terrains would you have? At what bonus?
What about 3 world walker and 2 warden?
3 world walker and 2 slayer with the terrain mastery talent?

Considering building a nature warden. Thanks for your opinions.

The relevant text:

Mostly Human: A few sulis have appearances much closer to those of their human ancestors; in fact, they may not even realize their true race. Such geniekin appear to be human, save perhaps minor features like unusual eye color, and they count as humanoid (human) as well as outsider (native) for all purposes (such as humanoid-affecting spells such as charm person or enlarge person). These geniekin do not automatically gain their associated elemental language (but may select it as a bonus language if their Intelligence is high enough). This ability alters the geniekin's type, subtype, and languages. Source PCS:ISR

Thanks. My guess is it's only affecting their type, doesn't mean you can take Fast Learner for example, but I thought I'd ask.

5 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

Does a shield champion need the quickdraw feat and a quickdraw shield and/or a throwing shield and exotic weapon proficiency throwing shield?

As written, the shield champion at 3rd level, without either of those options, might be left taking a move action to take off their shield and then throwing it away only to stand there when they could have walked up and done a shield bash.

At 5th level, they'd hardly be able to flurry with a thrown shield at all unless they constantly walked around with it in their hands and never wore it.

Perhaps only a quickdraw shield is needed, because "don" and "unstrap and ready to throw" is close enough. Maybe you need both feats and a throwing quick draw shield otherwise you can't take it off fast enough or put it on once it gets back to you.

As it is, since there isn't any thing in the text about changing the time needed to unstrap or strap on a shield, you'd need something like 5 feats by level 12 just to be able to use your 3rd and 5th level class features to their full extent...(quickdraw, EWP throwing shield, improved shield bash, shield slam, shield focus)

of course, one could skip quickdraw and EWP throwing shield, and run around bashing people and range and in melee without ever actually getting a shield bonus sans force ring or the spell...

These seem clearly not designed to stack and it'd be unreasonable to let them all, but if you were going to allow any of them to stack, which and why and how many stacks?

Order of the Dragon:
Aid Allies (Ex)
At 2nd level, whenever an order of the dragon cavalier uses the aid another action to assist one of his allies, the ally receives a +3 bonus to his armor class, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check. At 8th level, and every six levels thereafter, this bonus increases by an additional +1.

Helpful (Halfling)
You see nothing wrong with letting others achieve greatness so long as the job gets done.
Benefit: Whenever you successfully perform an aid another action, you grant your ally a +4 bonus instead of the normal +2.

Creed of Protection (Virtue)
Prerequisite(s): Good-aligned. In addition, you must always stand up for those weaker than yourself and defend your community against those that prey upon it.
Benefit: When you use the aid another action to improve an ally's AC against attacks, the bonus increases to +4 instead of +2.

Especially combined with:

Bodyguard (Combat)
Your swift strikes ward off enemies attacking nearby allies.
Prerequisite: Combat reflexes.
Benefit: When an adjacent ally is attacked, you may use an attack of opportunity to attempt the aid another action to improve your ally’s AC. You may not use the aid another action to improve your ally’s attack roll with this attack.
Normal: Aid another is a standard action.

Thoughts?

Fun activity - how can you make someone not move within a polar midnight spell and thus become encased in ice? A) As only a (CG) cleric B) with help (esp arcane.)/using miracles for other spells?

Slow them until they can't move fast enough:
Rime rod: entangles
--slow them further: slowB, greaseB, difficult terrain, holy word(blind half speed)what else?

Paralyze, stun, daze, them directly:
Hold person, sound burst?, holy word(paralyze HD+CL-5), word of chaos(HD+CL-1), stormbolts(stuns) etc.

Lastly, anyway to make yourself/other people immune to the dex damage?

I didn't realize the Prince doesn't rule Caliphas County. What is the base of his power? How does he collect taxes? Does he expect the individual counts to pay him? Why should they?

So, brief as possible: I made a character by looking at the Dawnflower Dervish archetype, and thinking "cool." Then I said to myself, if I'm a gung ho Saranrae worshiper with charisma and fighting ability, what now? So I took 2 levels of paladin. And then I went "uh...now what?"

So, what does a 1 bard 2 paladin do next?

Ideas: get more attacks with magus, since I already have dervish dance.
Get more attacks with maneuver master monk, because losing 1 BAB is worth extra actions, feats, saves and evasions that two levels there brings? (Maybe I don't understand flurry of maneuvers). Can I do both magus and monk? (e.g. regular attack, channel spell, bonus maneuver?)

I thought about paladin forever, but realized that no amount of lay on hands or awesome saves will save the party if the evil guys just target someone else. I also realized I've probably played too many bards, but running around casting save or suck or attacking with my scimitar as appropriate would be fine.

Since I know someone will ask:
Kitsune 1 bard dawnflower dervish / 2 Paladin Undead Scourge
str 6
dex 18
con 12
int 13
wis 10
cha 17

I just took my 3rd level, so the 3rd level feat is debatable, but I am set on at least 2 paladin.

feats: toughness, skill focus perform oratory? agile maneuvers? weapon focus?

Thanks for any advice!

Quite simply, if you are a 3rd level brightseeker and your first 5 levels were not a class that gives access to wildshape, can you wildshape? You get "the ability to wild shape as a druid once per day," but a druid of what level? Druids normally can't wildshape until 4th level.

I've heard two answers so far: no, they included that so druid brightseekers would get more wildshape levels before 4th level, and yes, you get 1/day beast shape 1 for brightseeker level hours. has this been answered before?
