@Tick - Both sound good to me, different concepts, but both cool - pick which one sounds like the most fun.

Rillka Cloudhopper will be along shortly - although like rorek55; I am about to travel from the 5th -10th and will have no internet.

Sir Andreas Eisfalke Von Ulm can speak for me during that time(if he is ok with that)

Also @Corsario - thank you for taking on this pbp. Although new, I know it is appreciated and am looking forward to the adventure.

Question based on the following:

Sir Andreas Eisfalke Von Ulm wrote:
Since your character is new. The characters will start at second level and with average wealth for their class.

Are we to use:

Average wealth table - for all classes is the same at second level = 1000pg
Average starting wealth per character class is 70-175 gp x 2 = 140-350gp
Or just the average starting wealth per character class 70-175gp
~ this makes a HUGE difference.

@Tick - Halfling sorcerer it is! Will get fluff and crunch updated.

I was going to go halfling sorcerer but it seems we may be a bit light in the religious department - I could adapt to a druid or cleric - as long as I am not expected to only be a heal-bot

@Corsario - are you the new GM?
If so, can you give character creation guidelines?

Jovich/Sir Andreas has been looking for a new GM - PM him for details. I am still mulling character - considering halfling stormborn sorcerer or a dwarven bard.

Dotting in the discussion thread for the reboot- character pending

Sorcerer would be a little boom, a little utility.

Every time I start leaning on way, I change my mind...

Dwarf bard is good for knowledge, backup healer (assuming we have a wand, he would be able to use it)

Slayer would be good martial (or ranged) and have trapfinding at level 2

a sorcerer or druid would add caster boom, and utility spells....

I am leaning towards dwarven bard...at the moment.

Honestly; after reading into it, I have no interest in the Skald class. Although barbarians are great to have in a party, I have no interest in playing a rage machine; or a bardic wanna be.
If I go with anything martial, it would be the slayer, but even then, I am not looking to to be front line - hence, none of my proposed characters are heavily martially oriented.

So; I am considering the following to go with the oracle and barbarian/monk

dwarven 'wizard'
dwarven bard (savage skald)
halfling sorcerer
halfling druid
human slayer
(tbd) rogue

Thoughts?

Two of my coworkers have been to Thailand in the past six months. Both loved it. Of course one was Thai so he was just going home. Have a safe and enjoyable trip
We are all going to have point where life takes us away for a couple days or week.
We will just continue our games around those life events. No big deal for any of us

Start on the 29th then, it will give the party a week or two get together and role play out some early days.

@ J Scot - I am considering a number of things... I have been leaning away from martial characters, so sorcerer, rogue/bard,
druids and rangers have always been a favorite, and this would be a good setting for those.
As i am considering such a wide variety,I may wait and see where Ebonezer goes...

Anyone have any character leanings? I have a couple of vague concepts and wondered what others were considering.

I honestly do not mind either option, so will defer to consensus of the rest.

Dot!
And thank you - looking forward to this!

BobROE - Thank you, I wasn't aware those product options existed, I looked at those products, that is closer to what I was expecting from the Map Folio.

Steve Geddes - Your input based on market response makes a lot of sense and paints a clearer picture of the product option.
However - the Trunau map IS a replica of the town map already available, and the isometric map is (based on earlier posts) pretty similar to the traditional top down campaign map, so it seems there is still significant duplication - at least with this particular product.

I still beleive that the Map Folio would be better positioned as a paper only product - and have the Map Folio and Interactive Map .pdf be companion pieces.

Thank you both for the responses.

So - Giantslayer is the first AP I am running, and I am relatively unfamiliar with the contents of any other Map Folio product type. Perhaps my expectations were unrealistic, but I was hugely disappointed with the product. I only purchased the .pdf - as a hard product, I can totally understand the multiple ways these could be leveraged. I am choosing this option to voice my opinion rather than the review section, because I do not know if my critism is fully warrented, and do not want to sway others as there are no other reviews at this time. As I saw contributors here, I thought perhaps discussion was more productive than a review....

The maps are meant to be poster size, which as a hard product is useful, but as a .pdf file - my computer screen doesn't get any bigger, so onscreen they are really just maps in .pdf form. Zoom in/zoom out, it is all the same to me. I realize that they may be better for table top games and they are well done (Jim Groves - the village map is really, really cool, and beautiful. My dissatisfaction is no bearing on the quality of the images!)

As for the product itself...there are 3 maps...
A map of Trunau... The Battle of Bloodmarch Hill and the FREE players guide have this map minus the fancy legend and are just as serviceable-

The second is a regional map which would have been more useful when starting the adventure to figure out where Trunau is, but looking at the Belkzen map and Towns of the Inner Seas I already had the important details covered. Usefulness, minimal.

Finally, the isometric map... beautiful and may or may not prove useful, to be honest I have not gotten that far. So in fairness I will say that at a minimum it is a very cool piece of art, and reserve judgement on its value as a map.

That said - I expected a Map Folio for an AP to contain all the maps in one file, maybe with a draft of a map or two that didn't make the cut into a AP product as a bonus. I really do not see any value for myself in the .pdf version. For me this product was a total waste of money, and almost a total disappointment. I am sure there are people that print their own, or use projectors, etc that can draw value from this product. I can understand the product as a stand alone - it just fell so far short of what I expected for the price. I think that AP Map Folios should contain all the maps published with the AP - not necessarily as poster size.

From a business standpoint providing the complete map set seems like it would be better - based on what I received, it is likely that an overwhelming percentage of those who purchase the Giantslayer AP Map Folio would be playing the AP, so providing the maps they already paid for plus this poster set should have minimal printing cost and most players/GMs love maps - it is possible that groups would pick up the folio just for some extra maps, which in turn may lead them to purchase the AP because the maps seemed interesting.

I am a friend of Grautak and would be interested in joining. I will be sppeaking with him tonight and have a character concept to you for consideration.

MiniGM - Been away for the holidays, but I will have something too you asap! Thank you!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Greetings - I understood from "Brannock" that you may have an opening in this game. If that is the case, I would be interested in joining. I have played RPGs for 25+ years, but only had limited experience with the pbp option. The NPC build sounds like a fun way to roleplay a character. Please advise if you are interested in adding me to the campaign. Many thanks! Joe
