![]() Knowledge (local): (1d20+8=16) Gevtodt is completely unfamiliar with that part of town. He doesn’t even know if Lamm’s hideout is on an actual wharf or just on the waterfront. He suggests a possible “reconnoiter in force.” It sounds like 0300 is the perfect time. If the group runs into trouble they could escape under the cover of fog. ![]()
![]() “What do you guys think about trying to get a look at Lamm’s strong point before coming up with an assault plan?” asks Gevtodt. “Maybe we can eyeball the layout, identify guards, and locate possible entrances. Given enough time we may be able to stake out the joint and get an idea when guards are changed and deliveries expected.” Gevtodt knows he is young and fears that his advice will be easily over looked so as he speaks he stands stiffly erect and delivers his speech with the same authority of voice that he has heard his father use a million times. ![]()
![]() As Gevtodt puts his plan into action he steals a glance at Zarak Ceol and tries to gauge what type of man he is. The absence of armor, the daggers, and the crossbow cause Gevtodt to jump to the conclusion the Zarak must be some kind of spell caster. Or he could possibly be an archer who favors maneuverability over protection. ![]()
![]() GM Lilith wrote: Don't worry, I haven't forgotten you guys. Slammed at work, will try to post this evening. I know the feeling. My Athas game DM (mwbeeler) and I had the following exchange on my return to his game. It seems appropriate. G'mork wrote:

DM Lilith, could we go in sequence? If you decide my actions should be disregarded that's cool with me. I liked the idea but I'm not married to it. :) ![]()
![]() As Gevtodt approaches his “target” he shoots his new comrades a rakish smile. If any of them look alarmed at Gevtodt’s behavior he tries to send them a few non-verbal clues to let them know he is just clowning around. Gevtodt can’t help but think, “These guys are going to think I’m crazy…or a crook.” He smiles. ![]()
![]() Gevtodt excuses himself for a moment. He walks to the balcony enjoying the cool air and the glaive dancers. He pauses for a little while and watches the activity of the people on the balcony. Suddenly, just as a lark, Gevtodt decides to “introduce” himself the old man. He stealthy approaches the man intent on peeking over his shoulder without being seen or heard. If successful Gevtodt will spend just a few seconds scanning the material on the table before stepping back, clearing his throat and saying, “Greetings. You’re working late tonight.” If unsuccessful he will look very surprised and say, “Oh! I thought you were someone else.” He will then just turn and walk away. ![]()
![]() DM Lilith I was looking over Gevtodt’s character sheet and noticed that you had his age listed as eighteen. When I was originally developing this character I envisioned him being about fourteen. Would changing that be a problem? Also his eyes are yellow and his skin is fair. Thanks PS Great game; sorry about being a slacker. ![]()
![]() Gevtodt allows his gaze to fall on the old man working at the other table. The posture and activity of the old man reminds Gevtodt of his own father; head down, back bent, reading, and scribbling the activities of a scribe not a hero. “I guess time changes all things,” Gevtodt says under his breath. ![]()
![]() Gevtodt follows along to the tavern and accepts an offered drink. His mind is filled with sad remembrances and worry of things to come. As the toasts start to fill the air he is shaken out of his dreary thoughts and raises his head and his tankard with a wide smile. “Here’s to confronting our trouble head on…and knocking it in the head!” he says. As he finishes speaking he sets his earthbreaker down heavily on the table and takes a long drink from his tankard. Foam coats his chin and his yellow eyes sparkle as he throws back his head and laughs. Tomorrow will bring its own trouble but tonight he has hope. Hope at last. PS Sorry for the long absence. ![]()
![]() Gevtodt’s frustration is showing. At Zellera’s comment about the guards needing firm evidence he frowned slightly. When he caught Matteo’s giving him a sly smile as Zellera made her comment his frown turned into a scowl. “So”, he thought to himself, “I need good solid proof on Lamm. And I’m not nearly as incognito as I would like to be.” As the reading commenced Gevtodt’s attention became focused on the cards. The reading left him a little shaken. Uncertainty, disaster, treachery; Gevtodt takes a long breath. After considering his options Gevtodt nods acceptance at the dwarfs invitation to continue this discussion somewhere else. ![]()
![]() As Dunzeltoff Haelcannon talks Gevtodt slouches next to the door with his head down once again. When Dunzeltoff mentions corruption in the guard Gevtodt’s jaw clenches despite his effort to keep his face unreadable. It is slowly dawning on Gevtodt that he has something in common with his fellow invitees. He is slowly coming to the realization that he may have some allies in the hunt for Lamm; help is not something Gevtodt is used to having. ![]()
![]() Gevtodt lets the dwarf finish without a word. As the dwarf’s words fade and the silence lengthens Gevtodt suddenly raises his head and says, “Well said friend dwarf.” Without another word he steps forward and takes the offered bottle. He then checks the bouquet of the wine before taking a long swig. Setting the bottle down he moves to examine the piece of paper on the table. ![]()
![]() Gevtodt greets those he meets with a nod. He makes a slow circle around the room checking out each tapestry in turn. He ends up back by the door. He leans against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest and his head down. GM Lilith Spoiler: Gevtodt will do a casual search of the room while “checking out” the tapestries.
Woohoo! My rolls suck. ![]()
![]() GM Lilith Spoiler: Gevtodt continues to hold his position until sunset. He wants to gather as much information as he can before proceeding. He can still hear his father issuing his instructions, “Men, caution is the difference between a good guardsman and a dead guardsman.” Gevtodt chuckles wryly to himself. ![]()
![]() GM Lilith
Spoiler: Inwardly Gevtodt curses himself. “So much for laying low,” he thinks. He gives the dwarf a curt nod and then tries to act completely disinterested. Gevtodt can’t help but wonder who the dwarf is and what he wants with Zellera. He concludes that the dwarf is probably just a wealthy customer. A wealthy customer who will no doubt tell Zellera that a suspicious character is watching her place. “Great. Just great,” thinks Gevtodt disgustedly. ![]()

I like the way you are doing it. Reading your last game post very enjoyable. If it becomes to much work I can always use the harrowed feat short cut system. ![]()
![]() GM Lilith Spoiler: Stealth: (1d20 6=11) oops…
Gevtodt smiles as he recalls drawing the Rabbit Prince. The prince with the broken sword is one of his favorites. That, coupled with the card he “found” in his mail, gives him an inner peace as he settles down and waits for sunset. As he watches he runs the name Zellara thru his mind. He is sure he has never visited her before. At least he is fairly certain. There was so many… I thought I would throw in a Knowledge Local check just in case Gevtodt can recall anything useful about Zellara. ![]()
![]() GM Lilith:
Spoiler: The mysterious note causes Gevtodt to reconsider his day. He disrobes and climbs into bed. After a few hours of extra sleep Gevtodt wakes up and dresses again. This time he dons his chain shirt and then uses the rough clothing to disguise it to the best of his ability. He heads over to the fireplace and ruefully begins to smear a combination of ash and soot over the exposed shiny parts. “And everyone wonders why I spend so much time polishing my armor” he thinks laughingly to himself. His “disguise” complete he once again sits down on his bed. Pulling out his harrow deck he draws a card.
Not waiting for sundown Gevtodt heads out immediately towards 3 Lancet street. He uses his clandestine skills to casually case the joint. He tries to see the building from all sides. Once he gets a good layout of the place memorized he finds an out of the way place to hide and watch the front door. Knowledge Local: (1d20+8=10)
Disgues (if needed): (1d20=11) Whoops. Meant Disguises (if needed). ManPig spell bad. NO! Not smell bad. Spell bad!
GM Lilith, I don’t have the mechanics for determining the drawing of a specific harrow card. It would be fine with me if you wanted to determine which card Gevtodt drew. ![]()
![]() Totally non game related question. Spoiler:
My wife has a favor to ask. Hello. My name is Jackie Scarborough. My husband, Russell, has been playing online D & D games with you for quite some time. I am currently working on my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. One of my classes this semester is Advanced Multiculturalism. One assignment/project that I have to complete within the next few weeks is an Immersion Project. For this assignment I have to collect information (in various ways) on a culture that I have not been exposed to in any great quantity. I have chosen to investigate the culture of D & D.
If you wouldn’t mind helping her please click here. PS Nice artwork DM Lilith! ![]()
![]() Spoiler: Gevtodt dresses in some rough garb he keeps for just these occasions. He slips his dagger into an ordinary leather sheath and readies his earthbreaker. He was so preoccupied with plans for the day that he almost forgot about the two letters. Chiding himself for being so forgetful he sits down on the bed and examines the envelopes and seals carefully before opening and reading both letters. ![]()
![]() Well, it seems that Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday evenings are best for me. After 7 PM CST would fit into my routine pretty good. I work every Sunday, 6 to 6, switching between day and night shift every week. If we started at or after 7 PM CST I should be able to get settled at home or work before joining up in the chat room. My days off are crazy busy and unpredictable. However I am committed to doing my part. Hey, I'm flexible (No jokes please, just move along). Just in case I haven’t mentioned it here, work has blocked my access to Paizo.com. However I can still get into the chat room. YEAH! ![]()
![]() OK, here is the situation. I had partial success today. I was able to get to the Paizo web site; however, I could not log in or down load anything. I think I will be able to continue to play. I will get all new post e-mailed to me and will keep up with the game that way. I should still be able to post once per day. EDIT: This is not going as easily as I hoped it would. It will take me some time to update my character Lilith. I think he is playable right now. Not “correct”, just playable. If you would like for me to step aside in favor of a ready to play alternate I would understand. ![]()
![]() Well, I went away for a week and the whole (gaming) world changed. For the better; yeah! Then I find out that my work had blocked the Paizo Website. I was resigned to the fact that I would have to bow out of all my PbP games; however, due to some advice from Fake Healer, I may be able to continue to play. I will find out Sunday morning if I will be able to continue to play. I am way behind everyone else as far as converting my character; but if I can access Paizo Sunday I should be able to make up some lost time. If not, I will update Sunday night offering my resignation. ![]()
![]() I have a rough character idea in mind. Guardsman Gevtodt Bereskan, Korvosan Guard, South Shore Garrison would be a fighter with Harrowed and Big Game Hunter Feats and either the Widowed or Missing Son/Daughter Trait. His father is a renowned (and often quoted) captain of the Korvosan Guard. WooHoo! I can’t remember the last time I had an ability score with an unmodified 18. I like to have a well-balanced party. If I make the cut and we are strong on melee and weak on some other class I will reshape him and rework his background as needed. I still have lots of work to do but it’s a start. |
