Share what I find in the scroll to Taminon

There appears to be another player in this game. The Crimson Drakes. They are a rogue group that is diluted bloodline from the throne. Perhaps we can use them to our advantage in the future. In answer to Simondale's quesiton, I can bluff my way through a poker game, but I'm not sure if I'm good enough to get past bandits.

I'll give it a shot with Disable Device.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23

May I see the looking tube? Did you find any glass to put in it? If there are glass pieces to put in the tube, Flynn will try them on the papers we have found.

I believe we could use this to our advantage. One of us could pose as this gentleman and perhaps we could deliver these ourselves and gain a better understanding as to who this Kressle is and the Stag Lord? Maybe after that we can take the body back to its home?

Flynn then rubs the belly of the wolf pup as he sleeps. I think I'd like to call him Chann. It means "young wolf". What do you think? Flynn continues to scratch the wolf pup behind the ears. If we can get an in with the group that this gentleman was a part of, we may be able to get inside information into why the noble families are sticking their foot into our business.

Linguistics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Intelligence: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

I've added the items to the loot sheet. Check my profile page to see it. Let me know if I have made any mistakes. Who wants what? Whoever delivers the messages should wear the armor and sword.

Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Knowledge (nobility): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Flynn offers some of his water to the wolf pup. He then examines the dead man.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Flynn shorns the wolf short and wraps his cloak around it as he lifts it up and out of the spider's den. Once outside, Flynn will take another look at the wolf to ascertain its health, allowing it to walk free if it so wishes. Looks like we got a young pup here. Any suggestions? I think it's cute. Flynn offers the pup a piece of dried meat.
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Flynn then takes a look at the massive bundle Xan brought to the surface. Who's that?
Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Flynn cautiously climbs down to the small bundle, looking over his shoulder at Xan, Xan, check what's in that human sized bundle with the foot and scabbard sticking out. I'll check what's quivering down here. Let's make this quick though. I don't want to get caught down here with another one of those swarms.
When Flynn reaches the shivering bundle, he double checks it to see if he can determine what's inside.
Climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Flynn lets out a sigh, swiftly grabs his knife and begins to cut the webbing that have captured this creature.

DON'T torch the tunnel! Their might be something of value that is combustible. I'll go down, just tie a rope off first and if I scream like a little girl pull me back up immediately. Flynn pulls out his silk rope and begins tieing himself off and then hands the other end to Keiran and Xan. Hang on tight, I don't want to end up spider food.

Climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Flynn quickly runs over to the crevice that the spiders were coming out and begins killing off any stragglers. He mumbles to Xan as he passes, Remind me not to get on her bad side.

Flynn moves diagonally 20 feet so he is 10 feet left of Xan and notches another arrow and lets loose on the small spider.

Shortbow: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 5 - 4 = 7

If not surprised...

Flynn shoots an arrow at the nearest spider.

Shortbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
SB Damage: 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + (5) = 11

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Not sure what that is ahead. Looks like some peculiar roots sticking out of the side of the gully. Proceed with caution!

Flynn follows Xan forward toward the odd looking roots. Flynn pulls his shortbow out and knocks an arrow.

If everyone's okay with taking a short side jaunt, Flynn will investigate.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

I say we sneak in and take out as many as we can without the others noticing.

I'm all for an infiltration and sneak attack! Kressel doesn't sound like the type to allow any of us to live.

Flynn pets the dog while Bisimone negotiates with the mad hermit. Perhaps we should get back to the fort before it gets dark?

I apologize for not posting. I guess I was waiting for something to happen. Flynn isn't too interested in Bokken and anything he has to offer at the moment.

I'm definitely still interested in playing.

Flynn walks over to Bisimone, My apologies Madame Bisimone. I will not be so slow to reply in the future. Flynn pulls out another piece of meat and offers it to the dog.

DM Kalizar:

My apologies. I believe I meant that my character was from New Stetvon, the Brevoy capital. And this is where the mail should go.

Flynn pulls some dried meat from his pack and tosses it to the dog. Why are we here again? It was a good acting job, but I've seen better at the New Stetvon theater. Flynn hops off his horse and walks it forward towards Bokken.

Character Profile updated to 2nd level and took +1 skill point for favored class.

Then I shall ask Master Oleg. Does Master Eadens come back through here on his way back to Brevoy?

I'm good with going to Bokken's for the day if we want to. We could also take the day to explore some of the area around the trading post.

Flynn will be taking average hp, just because I have always been unlucky when it comes to rolling for stats that are important.

Flynn finds his way to the caravan. Master Eadens is it? What brings you to Oleg's so early in the season? Have you come directly from Brevoy? Are you going directly back to Brevoy? If so, I would like a letter delivered.

While the merry gathering is happening, Flynn spends his time in quiet contemplation in the barracks.

DM Kalizar:

Flynn will pull out some paper and pen and two bottles of ink. One black and one of invisible ink.
In Black ink:
Dearest Sister,
My travels have been long and have taken me further south than I ever thought I would go. I am exploring the Stolen Lands with a group of fellow travelers. Things have been going well. I am earning my keep and a little gold on the side. I hope to some day be able to come back home and tell you in person of the adventures I am having. I have met a woman of extraordinary power who can make men sleep with but a wave of her hands and a whisper on her lips. And a cleric of Sarenrae who can burn as easily as heal. It hasn't been all easy. There is much traveling and we hunt for our food when out in the wilderness. I hope mother is doing better. Give her my love.
Yours Truly,
Flynn, the Youngling

In Invisible ink:
Dear Cousin,
It took me a few days, but I found a group of adventurers who seem to be good of heart and strong of arm. We have been sent by the Swordlords of Restov to explore the Greenbelt in the Stolen Lands and clear it of bandits. I believe we are being asked to do this so that they can eventually expand their territory to the south. We have traveled to Oleg's Trading Post. It is three days travel west of Nivaktan's Crossing. Once we reached Oleg's, we were informed Bandits would be coming for a monthly toll. We set up an ambush and it worked smoothly. I managed to severely injure two of the bandits quickly and end the fight without another blow. Oleg and Svetlana are good people and deserve our protection. I am trying to figure out where everyone in the group stands. I am including a list of those with me.

  • Adreccam Surtova - Newly Swordlord
  • Bisimone - Fire Sorceress
  • Keiren Surtova - Order of the Shield from Port Ice
  • Xanthan Lebeda - Wild man, but is friend of Keiren
  • Simondale Albus - Chelaxian Cleric of Sarenrae

Here is a list of the Bandits we have caught thus far:
  • First - Gehen Tarr "of the wanted poster"
  • Second - Pascot the Dark "due to a blemish over his left eye/cheek"
  • Third - Mij Faulks
  • Fourth - Rash Trimball
  • Fifth - Seamus Stulk
  • Sixth - Dinghy Hart
  • Happs Bydon - the leader "of the wanted poster"

The group has decided to put to death Pascot the Dark, Dingy Hart and Happs Bydon. The others are being allowed to live under hard labor, believing that they repent of their crimes. The only one I would have let live would have been the bard Seamus. The others should have been killed, they will only cause trouble.
So far they appear and act as good people. I will continue to travel with them and will report more information as I learn it.
Until next time. May the gods bless you.

After finishing the letter, Flynn seals it in an envelope and addresses it to his sister in Brevoy where he had told her before leaving to share any letters he sends with their cousin.

In the morning, Flynn will rise early and tend to the horses. Making sure to brush each one down. It calms him down and helps with working on keeping his motions smooth and relaxing. After tending the horses Flynn finds Svetlana and helps with whatever chores he can, and asks her May I send a letter out to Brevoy from here? I have this one I wrote last night and would like to get it to my sister.

Flynn is not interested in having a squire/tagalong.

DM Kalizar wrote:
Flynn, the loot sheet has I do not have permission to view it.

Okay, try it now.

Flynn flows through the motions of the activities. He tries to keep a passive demeanor and show no emotion. But as the final axe is swung on the condemned bandits Flynn finally loses his lunch. He shakes his head and cleans his face with his sleeve. Flynn continues his duties until meal time. At which Flynn forgoes any food and turns in early. Through it all, Flynn stays quiet.

The next morning Flynn gets up early and begins taking care of the horses. It keeps him from having to deal with the bandits. Though Flynn does believe that Gehen will not be a success.

I have put together a loot sheet. Feel free to check it out. It's at the top of my profile.
Also, what experience track are we on? Slow, Medium, or Fast?

My apologies.

I meant to post that I was going on vacation Sunday morning, but things got hectic and I forgot to log in. I was on vacation all week without internet access. I am here now. I will read through the posts and post as appropriate before the end of the day.

Again, I apologize for not letting you know I was going to be gone.

Rnd 1, no effects

Flynn draws his shortspear and readies to attack Happs if any of the bandits tries anything funny. (Doesn't give up.)
Talking to the bandit that Flynn threw the dagger at, Careful what you say dog. Unlike your upbringing, I know my father. And quit whining, I didn't stab you. I stuck you, like the pig you are.

If needed:
Shortspear: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 2 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + (6) + 3 + 1 = 14

Rnd 1, no effects
Since I have surprise, I will attack Happs, but will switch to flanking targets after the first round.

Flynn moves up next to Happs, trying to position himself on the opposite side that Xan is charging from so to give Xan flank when he attacks. Flynn attacks Happs, catching him flat-footed. If I can't make it there in one move, I will move my 30' and then throw my dagger.

Dagger: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage: 1d4 + 1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + (5) + 3 + 2 = 14

Hope that hits, that's a lot of damage for me.

I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to move and attack, but was thinking of throwing a dagger. So that's what I'll do, throw a dagger at the bandit. This will also keep me out of any sleep spells for the time being.

Flynn flings a dagger at the bandit sitting at the table next to Happs.

Dagger: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 1d4 + 1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + (1) + 3 + 2 = 8 (wpn+sneak+STR+Noble:Surtova)

I was hoping to get a sneak attack on someone in the surprise round.
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Flynn is ready with daggers drawn.

Flynn considers Oleg's words for a moment. Despite my moment of heroic thought, perhaps it may be better if I attack from hiding. Flynn looks around the area near the tables. Specifically looking for a place within 30 feet of the tables to spring an ambush from.

Flynn will attempt to sneak more ale into Adreccam's mug during the night, keeping the alcohol going for a little while. Flynn will not partake in any alcoholic drink. How about another drink Adreccam? For tomorrow we end the reign of these bandits.

Sleight-of-hand: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

After eating more food than what should fit into his stomach and waiting for everyone else to speak, Flynn adds his two thoughts. I wouldn't be opposed to just sitting at the table eating myself when these bandits come. I could look like a traveling hunter or trapper who just happened to spend the night. Would give me a chance to stick one before he even knew what side of the plate to eat from.

Flynn pulls the wagon into a position out of the way. If it is not too much trouble Master Oleg, I would like to stable the horses. He then quickly and quietly unhitches the horses and leads them to the stables and open pen. Flynn takes his time with each horse, rubbing them down and making sure they are properly fed and watered. When finished Flynn cleans himself up properly and finds a place to seat himself at one of the open tables and waits expectantly, but quietly, for some of the delicious food that he can smell.

GM:
During this entire time, Flynn will look over the outpost trying to ascertain its defenses and integrity. And figuring best locations for hiding and patrols.

Flynn appreciates the breakfast, though is disappointed politics continue even this far out away from the throne. Make sure to give my thanks and appreciation to Tamira for the wonderful breakfast.

During the travels, Flynn listens to everyone make small talk. In particular he listens to what each member of this newly formed group thinks of the noble houses and tries to discern where their loyalties lay. Flynn doesn't say much about himself. He's had a short life, just reaching the age of maturity a couple of months before. He is excited to test his skills against the bandits and whatever else may be out there in the wilds of the Stolen Lands.

Flynn switches between leading the wagon and riding/walking his new horse, trying to keep the animals as fresh as possible. Flynn will brush down the horses each night before going to bed.

Sleep, definitely sleep. Let us see what the morning, and clearer heads, brings. Flynn shakes his blanket and lays down. Still would like a hardy meal before heading out.

Though my stomach tells me that we should stop and talk to Tamira, perhaps the prudent thing to do would be to ride quickly to Oleg's. I would not want to show up only to find a widow. I don not need that on my conscience. Flynn finds a spot for sleeping and makes his bed and quickly falls asleep.

Thank you sheriff. I will make sure to meet with the blacksmith first before going to his home. I would not want to offend him, nor give him the wrong impression as to why I am there. A home cooked meal big enough for a blacksmith sure sounds tasty though.

Flynn finishes his meal, but does not touch his ale. At the sherrif's words of Svetlana and her sister Flynn shows a little more interest. If I may be so bold Sheriff, would you mind telling me where this sister to Svetlana lives? I would like to talk to her in the morning. Perhaps she can give us some insight to the area around Oleg's and maybe even a little more information about what is happening with her sister and Oleg. Plus it wouldn't hurt to taste how good of a cook she is...if she is willing. Even though he has just eaten, Flynn licks his lips at the thought of a homemade meal. I am more than willing to pay for the food of course, Flynn adds as an after thought.

Flynn listens carefully to the list. I may have heard of a couple of them.

Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Just wanted to give a head's up. I will be starting a new job in a week, July 5th. I will continue playing and posting, but my posting habits will be changing as I will not be allowed to post while at my new job.

So, recap.

I am still playing, just changing posting times.

Flynn can't hold back. He snorts and snickers at Kerian's comment and quickly ducks in anticipation of Bisimone's clubbing to the back of his head. Flynn tries to regain his composure quickly, but still has a big grin on his face.

Flynn gently rubs his cheek and gives Bisimone a wry smile. Casting furtive glances back and forth between Bisimone and Xan, He turns to look up to the guard waiting impatiently for a response. Then mostly to himself, I suppose I deserved that one. Hah.

Flynn leans in close to Bisimone. Close enough to smell the fragrance of her skin and whispers in her ear.

Bisimone:

My lady, perhaps it is the way I hold myself as a mature student of the sword, but I am but 15 years old and have not yet been with a woman. I do enjoy flirting, and trying to get under Xan's skin shall be a good distraction to the many days of travel we have before us. However I hope someday I will be lucky enough to find true love with a woman half as beautiful as you. But till that day... Flynn lets the rest of his thoughts hang in the air.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Flynn pulls up the cart. Stopping it about talking distance away. He then looks towards Keiran, Evidently you're the designated leader. Care to get us in? I'd hate to have to sleep outside of the gates tonight. And I definitely wouldn't want the lovely Lady Bisimone having to sleep on the hard cold ground, when she deserves only the best bed that Nivakta has to offer. Flynn flashes a quick smile showing his white teeth at Xan after the last comment.
