![]() I like experimentations and things that break the mold but how am I supposed to build the location decks when the Wrath of the Righteous's deck 5 location "Middle of Nowhere" is involved? If I go by the rulebook (Setting Up, p.4, sections Set Out the Locations, Build the Location Decks, Add Villains and Henchmen) and if I'm playing with two characters (thus four locations), I guess I shuffle the villain and 3 henchmen among the 4 locations. So I end up with exactly one card (the villain or a henchman) in Middle of Nowhere, which is a location that "is always closed; it cannot be opened". Is that right? ![]()

![]() I'm sure I saw the correction to Merisiel's Shadow role card somewhere already, but it doesn't appear to be in the FAQ. Shouldn't it? ![]()
![]() I just noticed some pricing changes are going to happen starting in June to the following lines: Campaign Setting (moving from $19.99 to $22.99), Player Companion (moving from $12.99 to $14.99), Maps (moving from $13.99 to $14.99). There may be other lines affected (Tales will see a price increase too, but we already know the books themselves will evolve). Back in November 2012, we got a nice blog post summarizing changes to branding, pricing, and how some products were evolving. Will we get the same kind of blog post this year? ![]()
![]() I've been thinking about it a bit more and maybe I'm just unconsciously comparing to Fantasy Flight Print on Demand. Fantasy Flight Games does print on demand for some Star Wars RPG card decks, which they sell directly on their web site and make available through the usual distribution channels. The customer can buy the decks just wherever Fantasy Flight products are sold. I don't know if they do Print on Demand in-house or if they contract another company to do it, though; this could explain the difference, of course. Now, if you're just the average PACG player coming to the Paizo PACG page, after a bit of clicking around, you'll find:
At the moment, the print version of the errata deck just looks like some kind of secret beta project not ready for public consumption. Knowing the amount of time that got poured into the production of the deck, I think maybe it should be easier to find out about its existence (as far as I know, it is only mentioned on these boards and in a blog post where it is sharing the spotlight with the Community Card Creator, and is mentioned almost as an after-thought). What I'm saying is that it could definitely be easier to buy this thing. Edit: In fact, it feels like a licensed product (complete with the guest writer for the blog post mentioned above), but it doesn't appear on the Licensed Products page. ![]()

I thought it would make sense for Paizo to order a few hundreds of each kind of errata deck from DriveThruCards and sell them here on the Paizo Store. That would allow us to combine the errata decks with our regular subscription shipments. Obviously, it doesn't (make sense), or they would have done it already. But I'm still not sure why this is a bad idea. ![]()

If I buy Wrath of the Righteous, I think I'll wait for the whole game to be released (up to deck 6) before starting to play with it. ![]()

Or maybe they just have no clue and stick some made up number on top of there search results to look cool and interesting. Because today, they say 522, but really are only listing 63 people. It reminds me of all these articles you read in newspapers, assuming the author is distilling just pure knowledge, until you come across an article dealing with a topic where you're quite knowledgeable. And then you realize they just make stuff up. ![]()
![]() Using Google and filtering some false positives, I'd say there are 514 AP Charter Subscribers at the moment. But it could also be more than that because I suspect Google would only find Charter Subscribers that posted at least once on the messageboards. ![]()
![]() I have been unable to checkout for a few days but it is now working fine. I see a new version of the store software has been deployed two hours ago; well, it works for me. However ! It may be unrelated but it seems the shipping calculator no longer splits heavy orders into 4lb packages for us international customers. It has been insisting on making me use USPS Priority for a few days now. ![]()

Alone, the monthly subscription will hit about $100 that month. It may be worth noting that the "Example Subscription Shipments" listing on My Subscriptions is very unreliable when Paizo is in the process of shipping subscriptions (which is really half of the time now that subscription runs take two-three weeks to complete), as it tends to consolidate future months. In fact, it is so wrong that it generates multiple customer service messageboard posts every month from people horrified at seeing its results. It even generates cancellations, as we can see here (if I understood correctly the root of the problem). This thing must be fixed now (it has been wrong for a very long time) or removed altogether. The Paizo Product Schedule is much more reliable (but doesn't compute shipping charges). At the moment, there are 2 Adventure Path issues planned for July, and one for August. ![]()
![]() Pathfinder Chronicles: Classic Monsters Revisited has been on that list since 2010. This must be why they usually don't reprint… ![]()

Regarding credit/debit/whatever-you-call-them-in-the-US cards, you don't want to generalize to Europe as a whole; you need to be country specific. My bank provides me with a VISA card at no charge and I use it absolutely everywhere: online (in France or internationally) and offline (I think the only place I pay cash is at the baker's if it's less than 5 euros and the honey farmer at the local market; oh, and the barber's). ![]()

![]() I spent the better part of yesterday uploading on Lulu the Adventure Paths Player's Guide that Paizo no longer prints (as private books visible by me only, so no need to go look for them). Fine-tuning the covers to make the things look like books was the worst part of it. A last check and I guess I'll be able to have the books on my shelves at last. I had to spend a day to make things look like they should, when I'm used to just adding things to my sidecart at Paizo. I'm disappointed that Paizo just doesn't provide a simple way to have their PDFs printed professionally.
So, lots of disappointment that (in my sense) could be alleviated. Yes, I read Vic Wertz's post up there, but I don't feel we're arguing over the same thing. His post feels like he's making a point over the quality of print on demand books vs. Paizo printed books. I'm arguing for a "Print on Demand" link on small, less than 32-pages booklets like the Player's Guide or Pathfinder Society scenarios that have never been available as printed books anyway. (By the way, I found two books on Lulu that shouldn't be there (some people who wanted private copies and wrongly set public access?): GameMastery Guide and Crucible of Chaos.) |
