Since the actual launch of PF2 I have been considering ideas for how to get more exposure of the 2nd edition rules into my area. A great change to our area has been the introduction of a Board Game Cafe to our region (the first anywhere close to where I live) and the immediate springing up of PFS at that location. We do meet weekly, but that's a weeknight where we have exactly 4 hours from start to cafe close (with wiggle if we're not quite wrapped up, they're awesome people that way) and that does limit some of the ideas I've had.

Then my Bad Idea Fairy came to play while we were doing our Card Game night at the same location.

Long story short (involving the fact that Dragon's Demand is the in-box module for the new Core set) I thought of the idea of taking a PF1 module that is sanctioned for Campaign Mode and converting it to P2, running THAT version of it and having PF1 chronicles for folks at the end as an incentive to be involved in this crazy train (due to campaign mode). Here is where I come to the forum for some help; I have two good candidates in mind for this, Dragon's Demand and Gallows of Madness, and I need some help debating which is the better one to do (first, if it turns out great and I want to take on more).

Pro for Dragon's Demand is it already intended to be a 'high xp rate' kind of module, characters will see a higher level (as high as 7, potentially) than Gallows, and the PF 2 leveling system is SOOO friendly to making people level up mid-session without killing a time slot.

Pro for Gallows of Madness is that if you assign the credits as level 1 credits, it's replayable and so I may nab more possible players because they could spread their chronicles to different PF1 alts to start up new characters. (We've had quite an influx of new players while PF1 was the only game, so this isn't as unlikely as it could be in a more fully mature campaigner area.) Also, the top level of character is lower (3 instead of 6-7).

So I come to hear what people think would be the better plan, or if another module for 1st-X with a campaign mode should also be considered (if there is any - again, working from memory only here) and also, what would they prefer seeing posted to the PFS GM Prep site should the unlikely happen and I actually /finished/ such a conversion? What pro's and con's would you attribute to this idea, and/or the specifically targeted modules? Let's hear thoughts!

(PS - this is likely to happen as a Sunday afternoon event to get over the 4 hour limit mentioned earlier on weekdays, and so that it isn't stealing bodies from the scenario plays of PF 1 and 2 from that night.)

The table on page 13 indicates the Ranger as having a choice of Strength or Dexterity as their key attribute, but the ranger class writeup on page 113 says only Dexterity. One of these two are wrong, but which one?

(As an aside about table 13's content, I've already had multiple, different, confusions caused by the 'secondary attribute' column... I would ask for it to be removed entirely from the table. A notation somewhere that isn't a reference sidebar/table would be better, if you are including it at all, because then if someone is reading about them they are also reading the explanations for that information.)

I would like to get an explanation for the change in dealing nonlethal damage with lethal-only weaponry (and vice versa)... specifically, PF1 has a set penalty (-4 for that system). Now, the rule is that you treat your attack like you were untrained. The problem? As I get better with a weapon (expert, master, etc) my penalty is getting worse, since I am dropping more modifier than if I was merely trained. For that matter, if I am untrained in that weapon, I am now taking /no/ penalty for flipping the lethality.

If there is a purpose or reason for this, I would love to know it. As it looks now, however, it is purely punitive to later levels.

I am considering running this AP in the near future, but the Chronicle for completing the Crimson Throne AP is confusing me a little. Who is the chronicle actually assigned to? If it is directly the 1st level character, drawing any or almost any Evil cards is going to instantly kill it anyway; but if it is one of those 'assign it to the earning character but gain this boost for another character', just who do we staple this to? (If you assigned all 6 chronicles to one character, that would be fairly obvious, but what if it's spread through various alts?) Just want to make sure I understand this one before I/we begin, so no one is blindsided later on.

4 people marked this as a favorite.

Without giving away too many details, recently my partner and I were in a session where 'something' was spying on the party through the eyes of statues and murals... how would you react?

In the case of my witch with a wand of unseen servant (which is always burning a hole in her pouch looking for shenanigans to be involved in), she took up one of the broken stone statue heads the 'something' used, gave it to the servants she resummoned once an hour, and provided it with an ongoing 'best angle' to the actions of the party. Meanwhile, my partner maintained a monologue conversation with it as we went along our adventuring ways...

Needless to say, we amused our GM and made the others at the table shake their heads and wonder at our sanity.

In the Advanced Race Guide, Aasimar have a racial feat, 'Angelic Wings', which lists level 10 as a requirement to take. That seems odd, given it is not a level you would get a feat at that could possibly buy it? (It's not a combat feat that I am aware of, and so have a feat @ 10 to take...)

Is this intended to be a level 9 requirement? Or are you able to 'hold' a feat slot for later, and so be able to pick it up with your level 9 feat when you hit 10? It just seems a bit non-intuitive a requirement for a feat to me. Thanks!
