Evelyn nodded at Nessus and raised her shield for him to cast his spell, then continued further into the cave with the group. When the wolves catch notice of the group, she moved out in front of everyone and bashed her longsword against her shield in hopes of taunting them toward her instead of teammates. She hoped the light her shield now put off would be all the better reason to choose her as a target. Especially if she keeps the light off of her sneakier compatriot.

Wellp. I guess I'll just be a steel wall until it's my turn. I'm also in total defense until it's my turn unless you rule that I'm flat-footed and I didn't just take an action (though I certainly wasn't sneaking, so I could take a surprise round to do what I just did above, be in total defense). In which case I'm just flat-footed. XD
The strike was somewhat off from where she had hoped it would land, but the momentary lapse in the wolf's attention to her shield allowed her an easy opening to strike.
Also; wow on that 40 stealth check. I had a character roll a 37 on a strength check on the boards once and that beats me. The character that made the strength check was level 8 too. XD Bravo.

"My apologies. My name is Evelyn Mastercroft, Companion and Paladin of Stendarr."
After the others had a moment to discuss a deal, Evelyn nodded.
"Then we have a deal. Splitting any valuables we find after we have explored the cave seems like a noble compromise on all parts. What's say we get started?"
Evelyn bowed her head slightly at the couple before falling in behind Fa'kazar.

Evelyn looked over to Nessus with a a smirk on her face.
"Yeah, they're not evil. They're probably just in over their heads."
Evelyn stepped out with her weapon and shield put away and approached the couple.
"Sorry to interrupt the certainly well meaning couple that you are, but I couldn't help overhearing you from the path. Do you need help exploring this cave?"
She motioned for her companions to come out of the treeline as well.
"We're heading through the area and I had a fleeting thought that we could all explore it together. Maybe without giving any of the money to an evil benefactor or anything like that."
Evelyn started laughing before abruptly stopping to continue.

Sorry, last couple of days have been crazy for me. Interview, paperwork, and training all in less than 48 hours. XD
I detailed what I plan to do in Gameplay. I should be able to pick up a post a day again except weekends. I should be able to squeeze one per weekend though.

Remember guys, you can take a 10 on knowledge checks provided you aren't in combat.
Evelyn speaks up after a momentary pause to think. She then took a moment to swiftly cast a spell.
Detect evil on the bandits. Provided they're evil, I'll side with Nessus on killing them. If not, I'll side with Fa'kazar on joining them to explore the cave. I'll post about it, but just to streamline my reaction.

The rule on composite bows is that they can be made for people of certain strength. A normal one has a strength rating of +0. Fa'kazar, having 14 strength, can make the most use out of one with a strength rating of +2 (thus he would do 1d6+2 with it).
You can use a composite bow with a strength rating above your strength, but you take a -2 to attacks and only get up to your actual strength when using it.

I certainly can't complain with that. :P
Evelyn looked over the loot from the chest, picking up some of it and putting it back down. Provided she is informed of the types of potions, she speaks authoritatively to the group.
"I've no particular use for any of this. Take whatever you want and I say we sell the rest to be split between us."

That blows me away. The only way that I'm familiar with to get damage on a bow is through weapon specialization, being a high level fighter, a mighty composite or magical bow, and point-blank shot. I guess it's just weird to me that his attack bonus is so low also.
Anywho, it's no biggy. They need a 20 to hit me while fighting defensively and I'm thinking about smiting the leader so I can keep it up and not get knocked unconscious. I'm supposed to be the tank! XD

Evelyn let out a quiet scream as the arrow manages to pierce her armor. She knew the archer was no amateur then. As the leader approached, she decided to play it safe to see what she was dealing with during this fight.
AC is now 22, 14 Touch. He needed an 18 to hit me, and here I am. XD Also, heads up to my comrades, that archer has a +4 to damage for some reason. Not sure what we're messing with, but that's no ordinary goblin archer. No metagamey intended. I'm sure Evelyn has never messed with a goblin that awesome either. XD

The goblins were just a bit too far away for a direct assault from Evelyn, but the best offense was often a good defense and she knew that. She moved down the stairs to just before the goblins and raised her shield, ready to strike the first goblin to approach her.
Move action: Move my full 20 ft down the stairs, to just before the trap trigger.
Standard action: Prepare an action to shield bash the first goblin to move into my threatened area.

Evelyn whispers very quietly to the others.
"I think we can handle anything in here in a fight. If any of you feel up to scouting ahead, though, it couldn't hurt."
Then, after just a moment's pause, she continued.
"Do any of you have a torch that you can hold in combat or perhaps a spell to make light? It's far too dark in here to fight efficiently. Or walk for that matter."

Evelyn stood and slid her sword back into its scabbard and quietly followed behind Jauffre. She was concerned, but clearly intently listening and excited to take part in something important and so much bigger than herself.
Sheogorath? I praise Stendarr that it is I who was sent.

Right, but I mean KNOW about it. What power it holds, its importance, and that sort of deal. Most people think its the crown that's important, but it's the amulet. That's what I remember from Oblivion anyway.

After watching everything that had happened between the guard and Jauffre, Evelyn turned toward the blade and quickly kneeled placing her forhead against the hilt of her sword.
The... Amulet of Kings? Why is it here? Could this be possible? Could the unthinkable have happened?
"My humble apologies. If the Empire - or the Blades - need me, I am at your command."
GM:
I'm kind of assuming here that my character would know about the amulet. My character is a paladin and fiercely loyal to the empire, so I thought it would be appropriate. If you don't think so, let me know and I'll adjust accordingly.

After a moment of looking around and taking in auras, Evelyn reverse grips her blade and puts the point between the stone on the ground while slowly lowering her shield.
"Where are we?"
She tried to hide her total bewilderment (Bluff:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22) and instead look stern and calm. She eyed the other members of the group that she could see, her face demanding answers. She knew better than to expect that they could give her one, but she hoped that there would be answers in their shared confusion.
"Actually, let's start here; my name is Evelyn. Who might you lot be?"

Evelyn was walking though the snow powdered paths that she had always known with her shield-siblings. Though she'd gone through some rough patches in her personal life, she knew others had it worse. She was grateful for what she had and saw that her life was going to just get better and meaningful with time.
Well, until she took a thousand mile step. At least, that's what it felt like. The sound of her Companions cut off suddenly and replaced with different voices and environment. The temperature around her even rose tens of degrees.
"Wai-- wha..."
Evelyn drew her longsword, making a loud metal-against-metal sound against her scabbard as she spun away from the rest of the group. She was too stunned for words, relying instead on her body language and eyes to get her point, and her questions, across. As she waited to see the reactions of the others, she kept her sword and shield at the ready. The only other things she knew to do she did reflexively. Her eyes and pendant glowed momentarily as she murmured under her breath and, with a few subtle movements of her hands, she cast a spell.
GM:
As if it's not obvious, I'm casting detect evil on my surrounding area.
I actually typed up my own Paladin code. A few are based on the code of a Paladin of Iomedae, but they're all reworded as appropriate.
Code:
1. I will uphold the good of all, no matter the price, first and foremost.
2. I swear to aggressively seek and rid the world of abominations that ridicule the sanctity of life; the living dead and the creatures of Oblivion and those that would seek control of them.
3. I will have faith in Stendarr. I will channel his strength through my body. I will shine in his legion, and I will not tarnish his glory through base actions.
4. I am the last to leave a battle. If my death would provide time for a companion to reach safety, so be it.
5. I will not be taken by my free will and I will never surrender those under my command.
6. I will never abandon a companion, though I will honor sacrifice freely given.
7. I will never break a vow unless following through with a vow means committing an evil act. Should I ever make such a vow, I must swear three vows in its place.
8. When in doubt, I may force my enemies to surrender, but I am responsible for their lives.
9. I will never refuse a challenge from an equal. I will give honor to worthy enemies, and contempt to the rest.
10. I will not suffer the evil of racial or sexual inequality, especially in the form of slavery. Should this sin be committed, the guilty will be brought to justice.
Evelyn wants to show that the Fighter's Guild is worth more than just being a band of Mercenaries. She wants to give them a more righteous purpose. That purpose is related to her personal code.
I'm wearing medium armor that slows me down as much as a medium load, has a lower max dex than medium allows for, and incurs as much of an ACP as my armor, so I don't mind medium load atm. As such, I can carry almost 100 more lbs. Almost.
I concur. I can do virtually nothing about healing until level 4. Lay on hands will only get me 1d6+1 starting next level, but hopefully I can use that to keep aggro.
If I were a half-elf in the truest sense, I would take Use Magic Device. As it stands though, it's not a class skill. I COULD take it anyway if worse comes to worse.
I just feel like the Bard, Barbarian, and Paladin are really well balanced classes with lots of options and different approaches with each. Between the three you have good spellcasting, lots of buff and some debuff potential, huge amounts of damage and various different combat utilities at your disposal. Heck, and Bards are pretty much the ultimate skill monkey. XD
My preferences of course. But I really enjoy those three classes.
It's actually a fairly balanced team so far. A divine caster would be a decent addition, or maybe a bard. Anyway, I look forward to seeing how this goes!
Scaffold Kane here. Allow me to present Evelyn Mastercroft, Breton paladin.
Everything should be present. Let me know if you have any questions!
Edit: Oh, and if the plan is to only be able to choose one class ability and one racial trait to begin the game, I'm choosing Weapon/Armor Proficiency and Dragonskin. Is this what you were referring to when we were discussing feats? I'm going to go ahead and add all that stuff, but know that I'm aware that I don't have access to all of it at the start.
