Escher swings again, hoping for a better result.

Escher tries to finish it, but seem to be having trouble finding chinks in the chitin.
Escher swings away.
Escher slashes out at the crab, and suddenly realizes that he has deja vu, as if he had done this before, but somehow reality didn't react to him.
Escher moves to the front with his blade and shield ready.
Escher slowly steps forward, shield raised but weapon down. "I don't smell like meat. Perhaps they'll figure we aren't worth attacking."
Escher strides forward, shield up and sword at the ready.
"I guess I don't feel this. But the fog is annoying. Make sure to stay close to the group."
Escher readies his blade and shield and steps in as well.
So in the morning, we quietly head out.
"It is a good sign, and it gives us a place to start. Hopefully the map will let us beat the Emerald Claw there." says Escher.
Looking it over, Escher shakes his head, "Never learned dwarvish."
Escher is up for more searching. Then again, he's warforged and doesn't get tired.
Does it look like the Emerald Claw found anything on the Schema?
Yes, you do. :)
Escher agrees, "We should take you out on that offer." he says, having already internally counted to five hundred.
"We should set the priority level for looking for this Schema." he says to his compatriots, playing up the rational side of being a warforged. "How much are you offering if we find this for you?"
Escher will move up to the front rank. Standing at attention to let them know he's not approaching aggressively, but he is there in case anything starts.
"I'm okay with talking, but we should remain ready for anything else."
Stepping out, he summons his sword and shield. He forms up a couple paces to the side of Ayla to ensure that they have a strong front line. "Understood. We should keep together and be ready for anything."
"If we run into them we can do something about it. But I don't think we should deliberately seek them out." he opines.
Escher will load the last of their supplies in and get in.
Escher's sword and shield evaporate. He returns to loading up so that they can move out.
"You may have a claim on him, but we need Failin in one piece," say Escher calmly. "I hope we can work something out peacefully, but that is up to you." In order to encourage the peaceful solution, a translucent shield forms on one arm and from his other hand forms a glass-like sword. He wields it in one hand, though to most it would be a greatsword.
Escher will begin loading their gear into the cart. As he looks at the space, he tries to figure out if he'll need to release his ectoplasmic shell to make room.
Who runs Bartertown?
"Yes, we are prepared."
He takes the steaming cup from the waitress. She nods, "Traditional goblin remedy." It smelled like coffee, but with a strange mix of spices. He could smell ginger, honey and more that he wasn't familiar with. On top of crushed dried pepper flakes and a fresh chili to stir it with. He hands over the potent concoction to Fiz.
Escher looks at Lia and the half-asleep goblin. "We can't leave her like this. They'll pick her clean."
Okay, we either need to tone down the accents or provide spoilers with translations. I did not get enough to the last post to comprehend it. Was Fiz already drunk or did one drink do her in? Even with the size difference, this seems a bit quick. Especially this early in a job interview.
He looks at Fiz, a little worried. Most goblins were not this quickly intoxicated. "Are you doing okay? he asks in the goblin tongue.
"Speaking as somebody who had no choice but to follow orders, I agree. I am Escher."
He's either storing it extradimensionally, or he's left it somewhere else, as he's not carrying it anywhere you can see.
He responds without reacting to the implications.
He pauses, "If you are still suspicious, feel free to reject the offer."
"Ah, while we have an heir of House Orien, this job is not an official offering from House Orien. We are an independent group tasked with going into the Mournlands to retrieve property."
Escher stands. One could interpret it as politeness. Or ensuring that he would be the first target if violence starts. He looks her in the eye, and says, "You were asking about employment opportunities with House Orien. This is Jacen d'Orien, and we are preparing for an expedition. We could use people who know how to handle themselves."
"Spiced whiskey, neat, for myself and Fiz." Says Escher, sliding a few coins across. He'll translate for those that don't speak Goblin.
My rule of thumb is that templates are not viable at all until the party level is twice the template's LA. Even then, it's pretty tough. In PF2, there are lots of ways to be draconic.
He will gesture to the group and softly say, "We should get inside. There might be trouble coming." The ectoplasm on his arm speads out into a shield but he doesn't form his blade yet. "I'll cover the rear."
If we are third level, then Escher would like to sell his shield and chakram. He no longer needs such material weapons and defenses. When talking with Fizfiz alone, Escher will switch to goblin.
