It's okay. Even I need a reminder on special conditions.

Elf (Aerenal) Cleric of the Undying Court 4 HP 20 AC 20 (T 13, FF 17) Fort +5 Refl +5 Will +8 init +3 BAB +3

Seeing that the group is ding well thus far, Lia stays back, reloads and fires again.

Karsh'e shifts to the left, beginning a circle to flank position and he swings heavily with the falchion.

falchion, inspire courage : 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 = 21 ... damage: 2d4 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3, 1) + 3 + 1 = 8 18-20)

You can use your performance to inspire courage in your allies (including yourself), bolstering them against fear and improving their combat abilities. To be affected, an ally must be able to perceive your performance. An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls. Inspire courage is a mind-affecting ability. Inspire courage can use audible or visual components. The bard must choose which component to use when starting his performance.

Karsh'e's attack managed to hit right on! He managed to severe a leg from the crustacean. Escher's attack managed to only bounce off it's Chiton. Alya and Lia miss by a mile. So far, Fiz's bombs are also doing lasting damage.

The crustacean attacks Fiz again!
crab's melee attack against Fizfiz: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20; claw damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Lia steps up behind Fiz and casts a quick spell.
CLW healing: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
"You are doing well, get it, Fiz!"

Goblin

Seeing her wound almost fully healed up, she gives a thankful nod at Lia, she takes a step back from the crustacean (5ft) and delivers another bomb to its face

"Eating crab fish today, burn nasty thing!"

Escher tries to finish it, but seem to be having trouble finding chinks in the chitin.

attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 6 = 15

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

Okay, Karsh'e, you are the only one left.

Karsh'e swings again but the heavy weapon doesn't follow the arc he'd planned on. He can only hope that his epic story-poem inspires his comrades to greater success.

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

The crab is still in the fight, wounded, it attacks with one of it's claws against Escher!

Attack on Escher!: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16; Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Escher, that is a kill. You all gain a level.

"It was like something from a legend. Dead heroes called and compelled to fight for a death mage. But the death mage was a giant crab. I wonder if there is anything of value among the arms and armor that it used to protect itself."

Karsh'e looks over the carcass.

With more than normal vision. (Detect magic.)

Goblin

"Fiz got to make it go boom, all good, yes" she cheers

Elf (Aerenal) Cleric of the Undying Court 4 HP 20 AC 20 (T 13, FF 17) Fort +5 Refl +5 Will +8 init +3 BAB +3

Lia will assist with checking the body.

There is nothing magical about this crab. However, the pit has a few items worth noting as magical. It will take a perception check at DC 16 to find them all in record time.

Goblin

Fiz take 10 is 17

Elf (Aerenal) Cleric of the Undying Court 4 HP 20 AC 20 (T 13, FF 17) Fort +5 Refl +5 Will +8 init +3 BAB +3

perception+ racial: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 = 26

Lia takes a look in the pit.

I think I have her levelled to 4. Will double check later.

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

Fiz and Lia, you find:

Talaen Kara, +1 Valenar double scimitar (see sidebar)
• 1 masterwork Talenta tangat
• 1 wand of magic missiles (1st level)
• 1 cloak of resistance +1
• 3 potions of cure moderate wounds
• 1 potion of invisibility
• 1 suit of half-plate armor
• 1 flametouched iron holy symbol (Sovereign Host)
• 3 vials of antitoxin
• 1 vial of acidic fire
• 1 letter of credit with the Kundarak Banking Guild
for 400 gp
• A total of 250 sp, 38 gp, and 4 pp

Elf (Aerenal) Cleric of the Undying Court 4 HP 20 AC 20 (T 13, FF 17) Fort +5 Refl +5 Will +8 init +3 BAB +3

Well, that's a haul... So, who can best use what? I'll go out on a limb here and say that Fiz should absolutely get the vial of acidic fire... :)

Male Half-orc Bard 4 Init +6 Percept +5 (darkvision 60) SenseMotive +4 45 /45 HP; Fort +4 Reflex +6 Will +4 (+4 v Bardic, sonic, language) ; AC 14, touch 12, flat-footed 12

Karsh'e approach to the finds is respectful. Where the weapons, armor, and holy symbol are concerned, he is almost reverent. "Warriors in the great war used these."

He picks up one of the platinum pieces, turns it to look at both sides. "What's this?"

gimme gimme gimme

Fiz lugs the stuff out and easily takes each vial of the board and identifies them

"Makes you invisible, makes a lot of pain go away, makes bad stuff in your body go away, and mine" she simply pockets the last vial

Male Half-orc Bard 4 Init +6 Percept +5 (darkvision 60) SenseMotive +4 45 /45 HP; Fort +4 Reflex +6 Will +4 (+4 v Bardic, sonic, language) ; AC 14, touch 12, flat-footed 12

It practically has your name written on it.

Goblin

no thanks, no read, steal think thoughts! Only take

Elf (Aerenal) Cleric of the Undying Court 4 HP 20 AC 20 (T 13, FF 17) Fort +5 Refl +5 Will +8 init +3 BAB +3

Lia picks up the double bladed scimitar. "Nice blade. However, I am not often face to face with foes so.."

She then looks at the armor, "Very nice. Who wants to be a walking tank?"

Warforged Aegis 1/Soulknife 2 | HP 41/41 | AC 22, T 11, F 21 | F 6, R 5, W 6 | Init +1, Perception +8

Escher turns to Karsh'e, "It's a platinum coin, worth about ten gold. Useful for larger purchases." At Lia's comment, he chuckles, "I was a walking fortress from the day I was created." But he does look at the cloak. If nobody objects, he'll slip it on. "It feels ... resilient."

Ayla looks at the stuff and comments "Nah much I's can Sees me usin, As I's like lighter armars"

Elf (Aerenal) Cleric of the Undying Court 4 HP 20 AC 20 (T 13, FF 17) Fort +5 Refl +5 Will +8 init +3 BAB +3

"Well, shall we be off?"

Warforged Aegis 1/Soulknife 2 | HP 41/41 | AC 22, T 11, F 21 | F 6, R 5, W 6 | Init +1, Perception +8

"Yes, we should go. No use standing around and letting the Emerald Claw get there first."

Goblin

"No no, don't want claw people to steal Fiz's shinies. We go go!" as she lifts her fist in a way to signal a march. Or that's what you think she's doing

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

Reaching the mine's entrance, you see a vulture perched on a dead tree. The tree has leaves, but they haven't fallen. But like everthing else in the Mournland after the day of Mourning, it's dead. You pull off a leaf, and it magically grows back and the leaf you pulled would crumble to dust.

The road into the entrance is snaky. It's paved with cobblestones, a testament to Cyre's wealth and affluence.

"Caw!"

Male Half-orc Bard 4 Init +6 Percept +5 (darkvision 60) SenseMotive +4 45 /45 HP; Fort +4 Reflex +6 Will +4 (+4 v Bardic, sonic, language) ; AC 14, touch 12, flat-footed 12

Karsh'e pulls off a second leaf, and a third. He's quite amazed at this, and examines tree and leaf with his inner eye for signs of magic. What's the connection? Would the tree return if we burned it? Would all the other trees and leaves behave the same way?

Detect magic. Probably some form of necromancy, but ...

Intent as he is on discovery, he jumps when the vulture caws.

Elf (Aerenal) Cleric of the Undying Court 4 HP 20 AC 20 (T 13, FF 17) Fort +5 Refl +5 Will +8 init +3 BAB +3

Lia watches Karsh'e's scientific investigation.

"This place makes no sense for sure."

Warforged Aegis 1/Soulknife 2 | HP 41/41 | AC 22, T 11, F 21 | F 6, R 5, W 6 | Init +1, Perception +8

"It's like a stage show designed to frighten people," he says softly "but the cast is made up of real monsters."

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10
Karsh'e wrote:

You detect a strong necromancy effect coming from the vulture.

Male Half-orc Bard 4 Init +6 Percept +5 (darkvision 60) SenseMotive +4 45 /45 HP; Fort +4 Reflex +6 Will +4 (+4 v Bardic, sonic, language) ; AC 14, touch 12, flat-footed 12

But nothing from the tree and leaf?

Karsh'e looks up at the vulture. "There's something strange about that bird. Death lives in it. "

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10
Karsh'e wrote:

But nothing from the tree and leaf?

Nope, the things in the Mournland are different.

Goblin

"Death? Death live in small home." she tilts her head from side to side as she examines the vulture

Elf (Aerenal) Cleric of the Undying Court 4 HP 20 AC 20 (T 13, FF 17) Fort +5 Refl +5 Will +8 init +3 BAB +3

"From what i've heard of this place, death lives much more than it should here."

She steps up and looks at the crow.
"Greetings crow. Are you more than just the bird you seem to be?"

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10
Fizfiz wrote:

Fiz's examination:

It has dead eyes, no light is reflected from them. It smells of decay. It still has enough feathers to fly, but it looks like it is molting. Why its still alive, you have to conclude that it is undead. A zombie vulture. Why it's here, you can't seem to figure that out.

Goblin

"Not-dead dead bird. Bad juju, shouldn't be here. No no. Should make it go bye-bye!" she instinctively reaches for her vials
