After the Protean falls, Ember cheers wildly, singing a tune of victory. She spends the trip back to Armun Kelisk thoroughly documenting her adventures, including their convincing the wisps and the downfall of the lumbering Protean. When all is over, she's happy that she was successful in her mission, but also quite disappointed that the adventure was over, for it was what Ember lived for. "Great getting to know you all, elements! If you're ever near a volcano, jump on in. You just might find me!"
Ember reels back in severe pain as the creature whips at it with its tentacles, letting out a cry as she moves back. "Ugh, that really hurt. Rhyol, show this bully what the Fire Team is made of!"
Ember continues her performance, then floats over to a nearby island and tosses a flammable bundle near the large creature.
"See? If two of you can hear us out, all of you can do it! Remember what you are!" Ember frantically tries to help Octarius in convincing the wisp.
"Aghhh!" Ember nearly falls to the ground as the magical energy sparks throughout her tiny body, but she flutters her wings frantically to stay afloat. "Listen to my friends! If all of us elements can work together, so can you!" The little pyrausta pleads desperately with the wisps.
Ember braces herself as the energy violently arcs through her body and she desperately tries to stay afloat as she reels in pain.
Ember rapidly flutters wings to avoid the shock, but some of it still courses through her body and she winces in pain but manages to maintain her altitude. "Now you've made me mad!" With a determined look on her face, she darts out of the room and away from the crystals, guided by Krakos' advice. As she floats up next to the mighty stone warrior, she opens up her tiny mouth, emitting a small but fiery hot jet of flames towards the center of the cyclone.
Ember stops in position and begins inspiring her group with rhetoric. "Here lie the crystals, emanating with power, the djinnis harnessing what lies within. As much as we are threatened, be strong, elements, and hold your ground, that we may live to succeed in our adventure and tell the tale of our heroic deeds."
Ember tails Jamila and Krakos as they examine the rooms. She pays particularly close attention to the strange texts in the library. "Oh, right! Breathing, Volume XI! I've read this one," she excitedly says. She buzzes over to another of the dusty tomes. "So Pahwal ijil Ranginori was the djinni who owned this library, and the books themselves contain tales of Ranginori's, the Duke of Thunder. I do not know why he was trapped or exiled... Perhaps it might say here..." She holes herself up in the library as the others take a look around, much too curious of lore contained within.
Ember floats above Krakos and eagerly takes notes in her small diary."Ranginori... Imprisoned.. Wrath..." She focuses as she's writing and says a few of the words aloud to maintain her concentration as Jamila and Krakos talk about the elemental lord. When she's finished, she shuts the book and flutters over towards Rhyol. "Okay, this way sounds like a great plan!" She hovers around excitedly as she awaits whatever may lie beyond the door.
Ember will speed ahead towards the crate and grab it using her tiny body to support its weight.
Ember reels as she tumbles along with the blast of wind, but manages to catch herself before anything impacts her frail body. She turns and notices the party's food supply falling and attempts to grab a crate. "Don't worry guys, I've got the supplies!" She shouts out towards the others. @DM:

Ember calmly floats above Rhyol's head-spike as she talks about shiny metal, waiting for her turn to share. "Shiny metal? Oh wow, you have to tell us how it changed you! Were you always this cool looking?!" The excitable little dragon perches on Krakos' stony shoulder. "Pyraustas like myself... We don't live very long lives. The volcano where I was born collapsed and so the swarm and I all set off to find a new home. But rather than settling for the very next volcano, we kept adventuring. It was great fun, but I felt I needed more. I needed to tell people of my travels, and to build new, exciting tales meant stepping out of my swarm's familiar comfort. So here I am!" She flaps her tiny wings and buzzes about.
Ember pouts for a moment when everyone disagrees with her, but realizes their reasoning is sound. She takes out her small book and writes in it, They didn't like the gnome captain. Who doesn't like a gnome? They're soOooo cute. She rolls her eyes. But these guys seem really smart, so Razakim must be the best choice. Closing the book, she flutters along above Jamila. "It's as my friend here says. Together, as the Convention of Elements, we've agreed that you are the most skilled airship captain these planes have known! Only you could possibly take us through such treacherous currents to complete our investigation."
Ember perches above the large air pipes, listening to the cacophony of mephit music as she considers the captains. When a particular unskilled air creature steps up to make its tune, she hurriedly swoops back down towards the group and lands in front of them. "Hmmmmmmmm... Nix sounds like she could be fun! If the gnome's excited about traveling into dangerous territory, we should be able to get our investigation done without any sort of hesitation! I'd like to hear what you guys think too."
Ember breathes a sigh of relief as she perches on Krakos' stony arm. "Thank you, Rhyol! You know, active volcanoes are really common amongst my kind. We usually settle upon them as our homes. That's where I came from ... Until it collapsed.." She sighs before taking flight again, fluttering around freely now that the prank is over.
Ember swoops from side to side, desperately trying not to be blown away. The chaotic flapping of her wings has little effect against the shifting winds, and a look of panic covers her face. She rears up against a strong blast of wind and twists her neck to see the Chuspikis, shouting, "Please... Stop it! We have done nothing to hurt you!"
Ember is violently buffeted around in the wind as its flow constantly changes. "Oh--" She can barely get a word in before it changes again. She turns her tiny head to look back at whoever Jamila and Krakos have noticed. "You there! STOP IT!" With the size of her vocal chords and the whipping of the wind, her words are barely audible.

Ember dives down beneath a chair, then rapidly flaps her wings and rises up above the table, hovering gently. "I guess something must have happened with the gravity or the currents? There must be someone who will take us there." She pulls a tiny journal from her pack and writes. As she's writing, she reads aloud: "I met four new friends today, and such a smart and deductive group they are. One of them is a giant fiery thoqqua whose voice rumbles and cracks as she speaks. It can be a bit scary, but she sure seems nice enough! We learned of vanishing airships and odd currents in the Plane of Air. We'll be off to have a look as soon as we can find a captain to take us there - hopefully sooner rather than later!"
Ember perches on top of a chair and speaks as loudly as pyrausta can, her chest held high. "Come to think of it, I know a thing or two about Armun Kelisk. Let me explain." "The metropolis of Armun Kelisk is the largest settlement on the Plane of Air, boasting over six million residents. The most common inhabitants of Armun Kelisk are the air genies, known as djinni, followed by whimsical air mephits. After mephits rank the spherical elemental servitors known as air wysps, air elementals, and sylphs. None of these races seem odd, given where we are." The little dragon clears her throat. "Travel in the Plane of Air takes many forms. Those who are traveling a relatively short distance rely upon their own natural abilities to fly. For faster transportation, travelers use flying mounts or rent an airship. In the Plane of Air, there is no sun, but the genies who rule the city create an artificial day and night cycle in Armun Kelisk. They also stabilize gravity in the city to facilitate trade with people from other planes." When she's finished, she bows and smiles. "Now I'm even more excited to go!" She flaps her tiny wings and buzzes around Krakos and Rhyol, giggling the whole while. How wondrous!

That's just the worst kind of news. Sorry to hear it. I'd like to echo Eben's words in that you may take all the time you need but if you don't have the time or compulsion to run this anymore, by all means, don't.
I was pretty excited to play this character. On the other hand, I understand absences. I've done it myself before, but it'd be nice to know if the game is still going ahead or not.
I hate to be the one to ask what the hold up is but... Are we still waiting for someone, or something?
Ember flutters her wings with speed to keep afloat as the air rushing from Rhyol's movement knocks her around. She giggles as she makes a game of it, floating from plate to plate as the thoqqa speaks. She floats back up to eye level with Ashasar, and speaks as loudly as a diminutive dragon can in a crowded place, "La la la... Oh alright, I suppose we do need the details. Can anyone else tell us more about the disappearances? Perhaps some of the airship captains?"
A tiny praying mantis-like dragon buzzes about the room, so small that she's almost invisible. Her small body is a light green and her forehead has two tiny brown horns poking through her scales. Her wings are about the size of her body in span and transcluent in color. Her entire body appears to glow brightly when it passes underneath the shadow of a nearby chair. Ember flies near the table the group is seated at. As she listens to Ashasar, her eyes widen. She speaks with a small voice, but her excitement is unmistakable. "Sounds like just the type of journey I've been waiting for!!" She flies around in concentric circles, her body shimmering with fire. "And oh how exciting it sounds." She perches above the fire worm nearby, more interested in the travel itself rather than the proposed investigation. |
