I hate to be the one to ask what the hold up is but... Are we still waiting for someone, or something?

_Lem |

Baerlie has quite a busy schedule. Her games are often a little slower, but every single one finishes.

NPC d'Eben |

So ... we all still here?

_Lem |

Luckily with pregens there is no need to hurry to make a character available for another game.

NPC d'Eben |

I agree. I sent her a PM yesterday or the day before, asking the same thing. I'm really hoping to play this game. :/

Ember, The Chronicler |

I was pretty excited to play this character. On the other hand, I understand absences. I've done it myself before, but it'd be nice to know if the game is still going ahead or not.

Pregenterated Beard |

Agreed, I was excited to play this one, especially as a way to give my first genie-kin character his first credit. Would be great to know if there's still a chance of this moving forward.

_Lem |

I'm sure Baerlie is getting to games as fast as she can. She does have quite a busy real life.

This goes to all my games (GMing or playing):
Thank you very much for your patience! Several weeks ago my partner decided to continue his life without me. For me it was a surprise, after 16 years of relationship. While I was busy looking for a new place to live the workload at work got more and more (the bank is changing the treasury apps completely, moving to a new vendor) and my mother opens her own shop on Monday and wanted me to help with ordering stuff, making a website, creating advertising, business cards, preparing the shop etc.
As you can imagin I'm tired, done and completely frustrated. I've not been in the mood to open the Paizo page and reading messages of upset GMs/players "shouting" at me or demanding immediate upates so I did not open this page for a long time now.
I'm really sorry that I put you into this situation, but to make sure: it does not have anything to do with you or your gaming style. It was just that a lot of things hit me at the same time. I'm currently working through the games to update everything.

Eben TheQuiet |

I'm so sorry to hear it, Baerlie. I certainly hope my inquiries didn't cause additional stress, but (knowing they likely did) I sincerely apologize.
Given everything—at least from my perspective—take whatever time you need. I was looking forward to this game, but I certainly don't want you having to push through RL stresses just to accommodate us.
Don't sweat apologies to us; I hope things are moving in a better direction for you.
If you want to proceed with this game, awesome. If not, I completely understand.

Ember, The Chronicler |

That's just the worst kind of news. Sorry to hear it. I'd like to echo Eben's words in that you may take all the time you need but if you don't have the time or compulsion to run this anymore, by all means, don't.

Pregenterated Beard |

I'll second all that EtQ stated above, including the apology for my part in adding any further stress revolving around this or any other games we're involved in together. I'm also definitely interested in continuing this game if you have the bandwidth, but totally understand if things are still a little too out of control.

GM Hmm |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Hey Gang.
I'm one of the VAs, and I've been checking the status of all of GM Baerlie's PFS Gameday V threads. We're trying to close out or finish the various remaining PFS Gameday V games. She's a great GM who's been running through a rough patch right now.
Given that you guys never rolled initiative, we consider that this game never really started. You can all dust off your sandals and safely drop out without losing the opportunity to play this special again at a later time.
Maelstrom Rift is a special can only be run at conventions of 26+ tables, but there will be other gamedays. Heck, maybe by the next one, Baerlie will be back and you can try this with her again.
Sound good?
Hmm

Ember, The Chronicler |

Thanks for the heads up Hmm! I'll give this a shot again next time, and I'm sure there will be one sooner or later.

_Lem |

Ahh, And Beckett has just offered to do it for us!
I'd actually prefer to play it, but if that is against the ruling, then so be it.

GM Hmm |

If Beckett wants to run it, he can totally do so. He just has to report it now, and roll for boons now.
We give our blessing. Have a great game!
Hmm

GM Hmm |

Exactly.
It will be reported now, boons rolled now, and then you''ll play and get the normal chronicle with gold, XP, items etc. If something happens later to change the reporting, Jesse will fix it then.
We'll be doing this just to get the boons and paperwork for Gameday V completed, but you'll have a normal game. We're allowing for the special circumstances of having to find a replacement GM. If Beckett is willing to take you guys on, we'll let him proceed. We just need to do things slightly out of the normal order.
Sound fair?
Hmm

Eben TheQuiet |

I certainly appreciate you guys scrambling to help our game out, and I want to play through it. But is it possible to apply this chronicle after the completion of the Blood Under Absolom event in January?
I had intended to apply this chronicle to Jal Vaduva, who was 1 XP away from 8, then try to get him into an 8th level Blood Under Absolom table. But when Baerlie checked in to tell us why our game hadn't progressed (and then didn't post again at all) I assumed this game wasn't going to happen. So I signed up for a level 5-6 game in BUA. Now if I apply this game to Jal (who is my only character above level 3), it levels him out of the BUA game (and likely out of the event, given how quickly those spots filled up.
So can I apply this chronicle after applying the Blood Under Absolom chronicle?

_Lem |

You can always either apply the chronicle to a level 1 character, or keep it for another until they hit six.
The BUA tables may not be problem, as you can go out of tier one step in one direction with the GMs approval.
Aside from that Chronicles are supposed to be applied in the order they are earned (completed for PBP events).

Eben TheQuiet |

I understand how the Chronicles are normally applied; I was hoping an arrangement could be made due to the circumstances.
Regardless, let's go ahead and play. I'll figure out what to do with the Chronicle. I do want to play this Scenario, and I certainly don't want to punish my fellow players because of some frustration on my part.

NPC d'Eben |

Let's rock this thing.

Ember, The Chronicler |

Sweet. I'll have to get my best insect dragon voice on again.

Hey everyone. I'm DM Beckett. I've been asked to step in and finish this up in DM bear's absence. Being that it looks like you have literally only just started, and I've just ran it, I don't see a lot of research into catching up being needed. However, I do need to know who all is still interested in playing to the end, and also I've requested to assume DM control of the thread. I'll PM everyone just to make sure, but could I have everyone post here if they are or are not interested in finishing this up. Assuming there are enough players to do so, I will, granting Chronicles to everyone towards the end. If not, I'll call it and can summarize the scenario. (Please make sure to post here rather than via PM, as I'm taking over a few games and PMing could make it confusing for me).

Ember, The Chronicler |

Thanks for picking this up, Beckett. I'm good to move on.

NPC d'Eben |

Yep. Good to go.

![]() |

Also, just a head's up, I'm waiting on confirmation about reporting this one. You are still on essentially page 4 out of 40, so reporting it for the game day event seems a little off in this case, but I'm leaving it to Jesse and James to make the call.

_Lem |

I think the tricky bit with this one is that it can only be played as part of a gameday/con

![]() |

You are all most welcome, and I don't mind at all.
I'm trying to pin down just how many people are actually playing (pregens makes it difficult).
So, it looks like the only character that has not responded back is Zypher (Danny_D), who I did PM.
Ember the Chronicler: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Jamila the Genie: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Krakos the Avalanche: 1d20 ⇒ 20 1d6 ⇒ 4
Octaris the Torrent: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Rhyol the Volcano: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Zypher the Storm: 1d20 ⇒ 20 1d6 ⇒ 1
DM: 1d20 ⇒ 19

Also, just in case, can I get everyone to post the following info for me.
Player Name:
Character Name:
PFS #:
Day Job Roll
Remember, these are being applied to a 5th-7th level character, and so the info is for the character it's being applied to.

Eben TheQuiet |

I'm still trying to figure out where to apply this. I don't want to apply it to my only level 7 character (and level him out of an upcoming game), but I'm not sure who else to apply it to.
If I go with a level 1 character, it doest' have to be a fresh level 1 character, does it? I can apply it to someone with 1 or 2 xp?

From the Season 8 Guide
Credit for playing higher- level pregenerated characters must be applied to a Roleplaying Guild character of a lower level than the pregenerated character or to a newly created character.
So you don't have to apply the credit to a new character, just one of a lower level than what we're playing.

It's extremely unclear. That part of the guide was my initial understanding as well, but I was then told that Specials like this work more like a regular scenario. So, I'm honestly not sure, and never really got any official answer.
