Jamila will continue trying to bring the small elementals back to their own way.
To the earth elemental she says "You, you are the Earth. The epitome of stability upon which the material plane is founded. Chaos is anathema to you. Return to your central nature of stability!"

Since Jamila seems to have the tiny elementals under control, Octarius flies closer to the protean and casts another spell. A water bolt forms in his hands and he directs it at the enemy in the middle.

Ember continues her performance, then floats over to a nearby island and tosses a flammable bundle near the large creature.
I don't know what kind of roll you need for this. I'm targetting the square marked in blue.

Octaris blasts the protean being with an orb of water, leaving it bloody and beaten, but far from out of the fight. Healing some of her wounds, the wee dragon flutters a bit closer and flings a small bundle of twigs at the enemy, hitting if directly in the face.
It reacts, stopping a bit closer to Ember and the party and unleashes it's furry, both biting into Rhyol savagely and then sending it's tails around to slap the fire wyrm across the face. Both attacks further damage the Protean itself, but it continues on, choosing to target Ember with it's two tentacles. Both unnaturally fly out from it's body, slapping her and nearly sending the small dragon flying, but Ember manages to stay aloft.

Krakos himself heals a bit more unnaturally fast, but then swaps his focus. Unfortunately, it just doesn't seem enough as the arrow misses once again. Jamila attempts once more to appeal to the elementals, but her words just don't hold the conviction needed to snap them out of it.

Octarius hits the Protean with another blast of the element of life to cause severe pain, leaving the chaotic creature very bruised and bloody. It's not at death's door yet, but is edging it's way to the threshold for sure.

With a solid blow, Rhyol crushes the life from the Protean, who falls, slipping from the floating island and into the blackness below. However, within seconds, it's still bleeding corpse suddenly appears in the open sky above you, continuing to fall, and against into the darkness below. Only to again appear above you in some sort of endless cycle of falling.
With no further threat, you are able to reclaim the last two of the Wysps, breaking whatever spell the Protean had them under.
Fully sealing the rift to the maelstrom at first seems to have no effect, although on your return trip, you find that the chaotic winds and other strange phenomena in the area have completely stopped, making the trip back to Armun Kelisk pleasantly uneventful.
First returning to the Tower of Contemplation, you likewise find that it has changed for the better, then using the device to summon your Airship captain, she remarks how she had been caught in some sort of whirlwind, but that it had suddenly stopped, saving both her ship and crew before any true damage had occurred.
Making your way beck to speak with Ashasar, he asks you for a detailed report on your findings, thanking you for your services, and offers a handsome sum for your troubles, (also offering to himself pay for any long lasting issues you may have accrued on your journey).
He makes mention of sending another team to look into the lore in regards to the missing Ranginori, surprisingly hopeful of what this might lead to in the future.
The End
Ember, The Chronicler |
After the Protean falls, Ember cheers wildly, singing a tune of victory. She spends the trip back to Armun Kelisk thoroughly documenting her adventures, including their convincing the wisps and the downfall of the lumbering Protean. When all is over, she's happy that she was successful in her mission, but also quite disappointed that the adventure was over, for it was what Ember lived for. "Great getting to know you all, elements! If you're ever near a volcano, jump on in. You just might find me!"
Thanks GM! Great game. I'm going to miss playing a tiny dragon bard.

Krakos lowers his bow as he watches the protean blink around the eerie chamber after Rhyol felled it at last. A sudden thought occurs to the oread, and he slips aside to one end of the platform on which they stand. He pulls a small stone from a pouch on his belt and places it there. This place seems to have some strange power. Perhaps Ayrzul will want to know of it, should it stir again.
Upon returning to the Tower of Contemplation, the oread performs a similar ritual while the party awaits their ride. He finds the highest accessible point of the tower and finds a place with a secure position to deposit the stone.
Finally, the group of Concordance agents return to the decadence of Armun Kelisk, and Krakos is pleased to bid farewell to these new allies, not because he wished never to see them again, but because he felt he had learned so much, and would have much to contemplate once he again has some solitude. "You are all great credits to your Lords! Until we meet again, friends."
Thanks, GM! Hope you don't mind me dumping some of those stones off. Had a hard time really figuring out what to do with those...

Likewise, I'm still a bit befuddled by my mission, I'm hoping it was tied into talking to those baby elementals.
Thanks for the game, and especially the pick-up nature of it.
