I will be dropping out as well. Not that I wan't to, but since it really isn't moving forward and I have to prioritize things, this game has lowered on the totem pole of priorities.

Sorry. Maybe in the future when things get better for you Nostrus, I will join the game again.

Elis says in a quiet voice, "How many inept prisoners does it take to slaughter a guard.", as she counts off the others on her fingers.

Elis is delaying her action.

Elis delights in the sight of two helpless men. She grabs a bit of wool from her old tattered garments, "infirmi animi nubem voluit" Elis chants in what seems to be a whisper as she weaves arcane magic.

"Now be a dear Mr. Grumblejack, and smash these little men for there disservice to us."

"You can leave all the manipulation of simple words to me, my dear." Elis says as she listens to the others discuss a plan. "Why should we limit ourselves to these simple plans, lets make this fun. I am sure I can convince a few of the guards to help us."

Elis looks at the veil and decides to take some of the clothing (Preferably a dress or skirt) as well as a dagger. "If we get this right we may be able to convince the outer guards that we are escorting our big friend off the island on orders of the Sargent."

"What do you think there miss voyeur and others?"

"You need fire?" Elis looks towards Cain, "I have fire right here." Elis points to the rag on the ground that was previously in her mouth, and give a quick little gesture of her hand.

Elis casts Spark on the rag.

"So big boy, your name is Grumblejack," She says to the ogre, "I have a little plan that will let you smash some heads and get you your freedom from this horrid place. You interested." Elis asks rhetorically.

"First thing we need to do is get you out of here and up the stairs. From there if you could be so kind and tear the little men that get in our way to pieces." Elis points in the direction of the stairs in the other room. "From there I am sure you can figure out what to do next."

As Gideon approaches the room, "Hello there my good friend, this large man here is Grumblejack. He may be helping this poor lady, and all of you, get out of here in exchange for killing as many of the innocent souls upstairs as he can."

Elis looks to Grumblejack for his acceptance to her plan.

If this requires any kind of rolls let me know as I am not really bluffing or trying to persuade him I figured it was just role play, with no rolling needed.

Although it may be impossible, it would be cool if we could take the whole prison and turn it into a base of operations. Though like I said, probably impossible at this level.

I just wanted to apologize for the delay in my response (this time it is my fault), school and work just started up again and I am trying to get used to my new schedule. Things are slowing down now so I should be back up to 100% soon. Thank you for not booting me for delay of game.

You shouldn't be waiting on me, I have a post about making contact with Grumblejack and just waiting on a response. It is a few posts up, just after your last post, so maybe you might have missed it.

OK, it just gives me a funny image. Since material components are consumed in the casting I can just see my "rags" slowly disappearing every time I cast the spell. Who knows I may just be naked by the time we leave this place. LOL

Yes, I am still going to attempt to "make friends" with the Ogre. Question though, do our character's know Grumblejack's name?

Elis takes the guards arm offered by Price as she approaches the large creature known as Grumblejack. Speaking in Giant, "Hello big boy. I bring you a gift." Elis tosses the arm to be just in reach of the ogre. Then continuing in Giant, "I have an offer for you. Would you care to listen?"

I am using my Charm hex; Will DC 14
If he succeeds I am using it again with my feat, Accursed Hex

Is Grumblejack chained up? If say I do the following.

Elis then asks Bob the Guard, "Do you have the keys to this poor ogre's chains?"

"Let me see what I can do about our big boy in the cell next to us." Speaking of the Ogre locked up besides them.

Elis moves towards the cell that Grumblejack is located in.

Is there a way to look into the cell. The map isn't very clear about cell 19, is it walled off or is it something else.

I have Daze prepared so as long as I can get some wool for the component I can cast it. I guess I should ask what are our clothes made out of? Would they suffice as my component for the spell?

Language shouldn't be a problem as I have giant, but beyond that I wouldn't be using a spell, I would be using my hex, which doesn't say anything about being language dependent. But it only improves his attitude by 1 step, which if we free him may be higher as is. Then I can use bluff if I need to to "promise" something good once we get out or something close to that.

OK, it just seemed to jump really fast from we were freed to release the Ogre and use the Veils magical power to get out. I was like, uhhhhhh, wait, what?

I completely missed Grumblejack, but now that you point it out. Yeah, lets free him. I might be able to convince him to help us, if I get the chance.

I know it kind of sounded a little harsh when I said it, but I didn't mean it badly. I just wasn't sure if I missed something mentioned in the Recruitment thread or somewhere in the Game thread (which I did).

I am just kind of "new" to PbP games as all the ones I have ever attempted over the years have all been kind of drab or died really fast.

Where did this Grumblejack come from? I don't remember reading anything about this since the game has started.

Also there shouldn't be a difference about if he is an Ogre or Half-Ogre as they are both Humanoids.

Also did we actually find out what the Veil did, cause I don't remember reading that either. Are you guys using a bunch of player knowledge or did I just miss something? I am kind of feeling really lost, is this a bunch of stuff that was discussed in the Recruitment thread before I joined?

"Now that is much better." Elis stretches her arms and legs, as well as stretching her jaw now that that disgusting rag has been removed. "As for the barbaric tools there," she points to the gear off of the guards, "I am sure I will be fine without any of it."

Elis excitedly perks up once the second guard throws his weapon down and surrenders. At starts to babble more till Price speaks of ungaging her. She looks to her left and gives a nod in agreement.

To be honest I think it contains items. If you look at the symbols you have a spell component pouch, potion, two daggers/swords, holy symbol of Asmodeus, thieves tools, rope, lantern, and the other two look like a window and gold.

So maybe it is a Veil of Useful Items? Does an item like that exist, I know of the Robe but not a veil.

Yeah, I was checking Spark specifically cause it is either Somatic or Verbal but not both. But at the moment I can't cast it cause my mouth is full and my hands are tied. And it wouldn't really help anyways.

Stupid Spark spell stating the object has to be flammable. I was thinking of using it to heat a link in the chain round after round till we could snap it. But unless the GM decides that metal chain links are flammable then I am out of luck.

With her failed attempt of reaching out to assist her cell mate Elis lets out a muffled scream, as if something had frightened her into the afterlife, and her body slumps down as if it was nothing but dead meat hanging by a rusted chain.

Bluff to make the scream sound genuine 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18

And I am assuming the +2 if he is attracted to me doesn't apply here.

Hmm, not really. The guards are a bit fearful of magic so they've tied it quite tightly. If someone else gets free, they could easily remove it for you though.

Just thought I would check, but I figured.

Elis looks around, very displeased that she could not get this stupid gag out of her mouth. But oh well, she brought it upon herself, she does hold a grudge and the guard will surly find out the feeling once she escapes, if she can.

When the burly man asks for her assistance she looks at him with a "really" kind of expression, but shrugs and attempts to help.

Thank you, I shall help you with it were ever you need. Here are links to the Leadership Feat and the rules for Monster Cohorts.

The only problem I can see is that the cohort can't have an opposed alignment and since I am Lawful and most Hags are Chaotic by RAW I can only get a Night Hag, which is CR 9 which could end up being to high a level to get. So either I can become Neutral Evil or I can attract an odd Hag that is not Chaotic but Neutral.

But in the end it is your call and I respect all decisions you make. If I can't do it then I will just change around a couple of feats and hexes.

Its all good. And who knows, maybe I was lying?

Anyways this is going to be an interesting game, not really sure where exactly I want to go with the character besides a lying manipulative witch, but that is mainly just the skills.

I have a selection of feats, hexes, skill plans, and spells that I am thinking of taking posted on the profile at the bottom. If anyone wants to give suggestions based off of the current party structure, maybe trade out some of them to help meet the needs of the party.

Based off of the initial post:

  • We are wearing rags
  • Branded on the arm
  • Chains connecting all of our feet into a chain gang and manacles holding our arms above our heads on the wall

    As for the rest, I would like to know as well.

    "What's wrong big boy?" Elis asks the muscular man (Cain) across from her as he tugs on his shackles, "The chains got you down." *snicker*

    Seeing as Cain pays her no attention she looks at the rest of these poor, poor souls. To her right the frail half-elf (Alexite) who probably committed some kind of juvenile prank of robbing the wrong person, and to her left another muscular man (Gideon) who seems to heed no one else in the room as if he was above us.

    "You look like you could use a little company." she says to the man, "Maybe I could show you a thing or two, if you help me out of these chains that is. They are ruining my pretty wrists."

    The two others in the room, one a woman (Price), sitting across from her, who seems to be a little to bright to be in here and seems to sulk to much. The other (Haruk) a wiry little guy with tattoos adorning his body, resting against the wall across from the cell gate.

    The sound of the guards interrupted her train of thought, which she hated. But she knew that this could be an opportunity as the guards stationed here keep ignoring her, which she hated more.

    As the guards step into the room she attempts to identify the one with the weakest will, the one that will succumb to her silver tongue. They call for a man, Haruk, the one with the tattoos, apparently he has a women to see him.

    As the guards leave Ellis calls out to the one she believes to be her man. "You young man, please help me. Can you loosen a poor maidens chains. I won't harm you, I was wrongly convicted for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Please, young man, can you help me?"

    I am using my Charm Hex (Will DC 14; Lasts 4 rounds) on one of the guards here as well as using Bluff to get him alone and to improve his attitude as much as I can, maybe leaving an opening for an escape.

    Bluff: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 +2 if he is attracted to me, +3 if my familiar is within 1 mile of me.

    If he succeeds on his save I will use my feat Accursed Hex to attempt it again.

    So I have a couple of questions that pertains to the future of my character.

  • Do you allow the Leadership feat?
  • Would you allow me to attract a Hag as a cohort at some point?
    The reason I ask is that I was thinking of taking the Coven Hex and attracting a Hag cohort and a Witch follower.

    The last thing is a question I asked that I believe got lost in the recruitment thread.

  • Is it possible for my familiar to be within 1 mile of me outside of the prison?
    This just determines the emphatic link and whether I get the +3 bonus to bluff.

    But other than that, hello everyone.


  • You know I just had a thought. All the characters that didn't make it into the game are still prisoners within the prison. They just don't escape with the rest of us.


    I am assuming that I don't know any of you except maybe from chatter and whispers within the prison, and of course your constant rambling.
    *snicker*

    But yes, I do believe that we may be able to have a stereotypical lunch room talk about escape and sharpening sporks into shivs, for those of you that need material weapons.


    I can't wait to start this. It is going to be deviously fun. And it doesn't help that I have the free preview and I am using all of my STR to not look in the adventure part of it. But I am reading through pretty much everything else.
