(I used Internet Explorer to see the Hinterlands map. Firefox just keeps saying "plugin needed". I also need to redo Dorin's backpack.) "I think these briars are intentional." Dorin growled, tugging his shirt free from a nearby thorn. "If we burn it, the goblins will see the smoke from Thistletop; if we chop at it, will they hear us? How do the goblins get past these briars?" Dorin started to search around, looking for goblin paths. He left the horse loosely tied to a nearby tree. Perception check: (taking 20): 21

Dorin thanked Veznutt Parooh, promising to update the map with the area near Thistletop if possible. Dorin will be near the rear of the party, let the others fight out who's on first... "I wish we had that elven ranger, Shalelu? with us." Dorin answered Danaris. "I bet she could sneak us up to Thistletop." Dorin squinted at the map he was holding. "I think Thistletop is an island." he muttered. "Hard to find a 'backdoor' to that. Can goblins see in the dark? If so, then a daylight sneak is actually better."
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
I'm trying to be as in-character as possible, robin. Only Malcolm has shown any leadership here. We're reacting to the goblins and such as best we can - I don't think we've seen the bigger picture yet. If you want the Sheriff to tell us to go to Thistletop, fine. Dorin's suggesting it himself. Yes, we're taking forever to get there. I actually don't see us bogged down. This is more like a book or a movie, with a slow lag, but not as rushed as a tabletop game where we all metagame to the next battle. Prodding the players can be frustrating if the GM is trying to do it with subtlety! :) It's hard to push players without being heavy-handed. Of course, Malcolm's little "I want a statue" speech didn't help matters. :) Ah, motivations and goals!
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
Dorin follows Kast's example. "Uh, we kinda got the weapons for free..." he started, then looked at the adults and closed his mouth. Starting again, he asked Malcolm, "Can't the Sheriff just call us an official adventuring party? Don't you have to go to the Sandpoint Mercantile League building and get a, a charter, or something? Sir Korvaski would know what to call us." Knowledge: Local 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
"So this Nualia didn't die, holds a grudge against Sandpoint, and uses goblins to do her dirty work. She's gathering all the goblin tribes and leaders into Thistletop." Dorin summarized for the Sheriff. The dark-haired youth looked around them in the Mayor's office. "So who's going after this Nualia and her gobin henchmen?" Dorin asked with a young man's naivety.
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
"W-e-e-l-l-l" Dorin said slowly, "it has been quite a lot going on." 1.) Goblins attacked the town during the Swallowtail Festival.

I'm using the SRD. "The price of a scroll is equal to the level of the spell × the creator's caster level × 25 gp." So 3x5x25=375, you're right. I must have 2x in my head, misreading it as creation cost vs. buying cost. So instead of 150 gp each, we'll need to pay 75 gp each. -------------------- Robin: you said Dorin can stay in the Rusty Dragon. I don't want Dorin throwing out the maid and cooks, which do have an entry in some of the online Sandpoint wikis. (Bethana Corwin, for instance) Is there any way Dorin can pay the staff to keep the Rusty Dragon running? If a Good Inn stay (per day) is 2 gp per day, how much would it cost? Can Dorin hire someone in town to keep the Rusty Dragon going, since he's an adventurer? Trying to keep the Rusty Dragon Inn running for Ameiko's return, enhance our ties to Sandpoint, and yet allow Dorin to keep adventuring!

Needed for that Scroll of Remove Disease (750 gp)? Gar kept the axe.
Dorin selling from tunnels under the Glassworks: (Using Favored Son Trait for 110%)
Wand + Scroll = 427.25 / 5 = 85.45 each Dorin had 641.82 gp before, add above for 727.27 gp. The Scroll of Remove Disease was 750 gp, or 150 gp each. Dorin will gladly pay his share. So everybody mark off 150 gp and the Scroll of Remove Disease is paid for. Shopping: none yet for Dorin, he still has 14 crossbow bolts. All he needs is a replacement torch. 577.26 gp total for Dorin's spare change.
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
"Whew. Good thing the Father succeeded." (Who's totaling what money we need for that Scroll of Remove Disease (375 gp)? Dorin can sell Wand of Shocking Grasp (28 charges - 420 gp / 2 = 210 gp), bottle of wine, strange book, Scroll of Burning Hands (3rd Level - 375 gp / 2 = 187.5 gp). He'll have to go to the book store in town to sell the book, Vin Vinder might take the bottle of wine.) (Things to do - clean up the closed Rusty Dragon, do deputy duties with Kast, find out who knows ancient Thassilonian in town, redo equipment and sell off extra, say hello to various townspeople for skill advancement, etc.)

Round 2 map is undersandpoint round
Stats-Temp Effects:
HP=12/12 points, AC=13 (touch 13, flat-footed 10), no armor, holding lit torch, wearing both gauntlets, speed=30 ft. Fort=+1, Ref=+3, Will=+4 Spells: inf/3 for 0th/1st; Acid Splash is 1/1; Heavenly Fire is 6/6 Dancing Lights beyond Gar, into the corridor (2/10 rounds, at AN14). "Quasits, demon-things, goblins the size of town guards, and now a flying head! Magic Missile!" Dorin muttered disgustedly.
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
(Sorry about that. Huge work day before Thanksgiving.) Round 1 map is undersandpoint round
Stats-Temp Effects:
HP=12/12 points, AC=13 (touch 13, flat-footed 10), no armor, holding lit torch, wearing both gauntlets, speed=30 ft. Fort=+1, Ref=+3, Will=+4 Spells: inf/4 for 0th/1st; Acid Splash is 1/1; Heavenly Fire is 6/6 Dancing Lights beyond Gar, into the corridor (2/10 rounds, at AN14). "Aaaahhh!" Dorin yelled in panic. Then he saw the flying creature try, and succeed, in kissing the dwarf. "Yuck!" he said, dropping the torch. "Magic Missile!" Dorin shouted, pointing at the flying head-thing.
Dorins next actions for everybody: Recall the Dancing Lights closer, hit the whatever-it-is again with Magic Missile. Quarters are too close for the crossbow. Switch to Heavenly Fire after 2 shots of MM, but HF's only good for one hit.
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
(The corridor with the statue sounds good, Kast. I don't think we were down here earlier - the quasit met us beforehand, and the second time we went straight to the prison to free Gar and Malcolm. So this corridor with the statue that we took the ranseur down from is new.) Dorin, still holding the flickering torch, sent down another Dancing Lights ahead of Kast to light the way.
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
Dorin took in the talk between the others. Hmmm...I need a better weapon too. Maybe a magical light crossbow, the quasit's tiny dagger that could fly back by itself was too small...no! Must raise Ameiko! The boy shook off the woolgathering and went to go pick up the torch he had dropped, then slung his crossbow on his backpack again. "Maybe the quasit changed the goblin, you know, to make it more like those demon creatures we fought." he said. Dorin went to help Gar look down the other corridor to the south, and cast Dancing Lights down the stone passageway to illuminate it.
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
Dorin, done with the zombies in the pits, goes back to the green monster they defeated. "Shalelu spoke of a Koruvus. But she was talking about the gobins. This" the boy gave the carcass a kick, "was a goblin? What happened to it?" (Gar, the little room (AM11, AN11, AO11) was the one with the strange deformed skeletons.) "The sword is magic, Gar. The dagger is silvered. I'll take that, if nobody wants it. And I think we should continue." Dorin said. He looked up and over his shoulder. "A prison, torture chamber, and holding pen. This place is evil, but we knew that. There's still that doorway to the south. We haven't finished." map is undersandpoint round
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
robin wrote: Are you quite well, Dorin? Chalk it up to finally getting to beat something that's not a killer monster, robin. Yes, they're in the pits and helpless as undead. But Dorin needs some stress relief after losing Ameiko. This place is also not making much sense, so getting rid of a potential problem like zombies making their way to the Glassworks and town above is something Dorin can do.
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
Dorin, finished cutting the green monster, looked up. "Oh. Weapons. I forgot." (Look over the body for weapons.) When Kast and Malcolm started opening pits and trying to get at the zombies, Dorin stood up. "Zombies? I have a spell for that - one the caravan elders were impressed with!" With that, he went over to the pit Kast had opened and waved his hands, pointing at the zombie. "Disrupt Undead!" Dorin shouted. (Obviously less than 25 feet distance.) Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Dorin laughed at the effect his effortless purple ray (From the Ruins of Myth Drannor PC game) was having on the helpless undead. "This is easy!" he told the others. "I can do this all day! Like apples in a barrel! Open another pit, Malcolm!" (There's 11 zombies under the pits, if I read the map correctly, robin. Do I really have to roll for each?)
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
"Hey," Dorin called from near the huge body. He had unsheathed his dagger and was about to plunge it into the neck of the creature. "things down here have to be cut up, remember? They heal quick. Don't want any surprises." With that, he proceeded to cut off the green thing's head from its' neck.
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
(Sorry about the slow reply, folks. Wiped out after the 3-day business trip plus a sinus headache. Just returned to the land of the living.) if this is round3 instead of round2 and you are waiting on Dorin:
Round 03 map is undersandpoint round
(Robin, I moved my character on the map to where I mentioned him going to last round.) Seeing only one person in front of him (Kast) as everyone scattered, Dorin lifted his loaded crossbow and fired. Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 4 = 17 (With -4 for firing into melee.)
Dorin then reloaded the light crossbow. "Take that, you big ugly!" he taunted the...whatever it was.
(Edit...Hahahaha...ninja'ed, robin! And the same damage, magic missile vs. light crossbow. I'll go with the crossbow if I can.)
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
Round 2, map is undersandpoint round
Stats-Temp Effects:
HP=12/12 points, AC=13 (touch 13, flat-footed 10), wearing both gauntlets, speed=30 ft. Fort=+1, Ref=+3, Will=+4 Spells: inf/5 for 0th/1st; Acid Splash is 1/1; Heavenly Fire is 6/6 "All right, all right, I hear you." Dorin mutters to Kast and Malcolm. The boy stepped to his left (to AO06), leaving the doorway, then retreating behind Malcolm. (AN06, AM06, AL06, AL07) "Now I can't fire!" Dorin complained, looking over Malcolm's and Danaris' shoulders. He stuck a hand past Malcolm's head, saying "Magic Missile!", making the arcane gestures with his right hand as he held the loaded crossbow with his left, aiming at the whatever-it-was. Magic Missile damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Dorins future actions for everybody: 4 1st-level spells left. Dorin will have to hold action until the doorway is free. Somebody needs to push that thing back to let us get into the room!
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
"A deformed monster, like the skeletons!" Dorin shouted, dropping the lit torch and reaching for his crossbow on his backpack. He hurriedly shook out a crossbow bolt from the box hanging from his pack and loaded the light crossbow. (Probably a full-round action to do all of that. Dorin will fire next round.)
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
"The creatures were speaking the Old Tongue." Dorin said as they looked around the prison? Torture chamber? "Maybe one of these papers has a city name on it. I wish Zees had stayed, he knew Thassilonian as well as I do, and I wanted to ask him where he had learned it." Dorin searched the room (and the chambers) and gathered the papers to read.
Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6
(The map looks good, robin. Dorin in the middle, holding a lit torch to provide a light source. Everybody protect the spellcaster! :) ) We need an everburning torch. Dorin thought to himself. I wonder if anybody in town has one to sell. Then he reconsidered. No. The Raise Ameiko fund comes first. Dorin shifted his shoulders, adjusting the new backpack. He mentally reviewed his spells in his mind as the group walked normally in the ancient corridor. Perception check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Thanks, Gar. Dorin will buy that light crossbow back, as well as two ordinary crossbow bolt boxes. crossbow, light (35 gp)
3.42 gp + 725.4 - 87 = 641.82 gp Dorin needs to know if he has to carry everything on him now, robin, or if he can leave some stuff behind. At the cathedral, maybe. Dorin will also start his "Raise Ameiko" fund with the leftover gold.
