Dejik will hold on to most of the higher level scrolls, but Limited Wish, Plane Shift, and Planar Binding aren't on her spell list.

What do we need to do to help Chorussina?

What kind of luck does Dejik have finding these things?

With AravashnielDejik hugs her friend tightly, then explains that she wants to learn to enhance her spells to last longer. She's been using the metamagic rod for a while, and she wants to replicate the same effect without the rod. She'll train with Aravashiel to learn the Extend Spell feat and the Divine Metamastery mythic ability.

=========

Once she's had a chance to practice, Dejik starts casting the following spells on her friends every morning:

Extended Mythic Endure Elements. 48 hours, up to 12 creatures (covers all the PCs and Arushalae), Resist cold 5 and resist fire 5 (If possible, Dejik will use the extra 6 slots on Irabeth, Anevia, Aravashniel, Sosiel, Aron Kir, and anyone else who is present.)

Extended Status. 24 hours, up to 4 creatures (covers all the PCs and Arushalae).

Extended Mythic Shield Other. 24 hours, 1 creature per casting. Extends to long range, and when Dejik uses her surge ability on a saving throw, the shielded ally can use her surge bonus on the save. When Dejik has time, she'll cast it on all the PCs and Arushalae. If she doesn't have time, she'll cast them in this order: Ayesha, Sarkast, Arushalae, and Nilus. (She might end up staggering the castings to two every other day, but that might be too much bookkeeping.)

Dejik can have Life Links with up to 14 people. She'll link with all the PCs and Arushalae. She'll also try to maintain links with on Irabeth, Anevia, Aravashniel, Sosiel, and Aron Kir, but it only has a range of 240 feet, so it will probably break pretty quickly.

============

Dejik also spends her downtime boosting the army's supplies with Create Water and Purify Food and Drink, and tending the ill and injured.

She'll also tend to the ill and injured and help Sosiel as much as she can.

Looking over the spreadsheet history, it looks like we accidentally sold the +4 mithral scale mail that Dejik is wearing. Dejik will refund the money to the party out of her share.

Also, Dejik is carrying several items she isn't using. We can either sell these or donate them to crusade:
- +1 Elven chain
- Mithral chain shirt
- Wand of protection from evil (27 charges)
- Wand of bless weapon (41 charges)
- Potion of sanctuary
- 2 potions of Endure Elements
- Materwork composite longbow
- +1 longbow

I also realized that Dejik doesn't have a backup weapon. She'll try to get her cold iron longsword upgraded to +1 or maybe find a basic +1 longsword.

When Dejik casts Mythic Protection from Evil on Sarkast and Ayesha, it gives them a +4 deflection bonus. If Nilus has a lower deflection bonus, it might be worth it to give him a better touch AC.

Sarkast wrote:
I already have an Amulet of Natural Armor +2.

If Nilus and Ayesha already have a neck slot or a natural armor bonus, Dejik will take the amulet.

Sarkast wrote:
Lots of good wands and scrolls and stuff for Ayesha and Dejik.

Whatever metamagic rods Ayesha doesn't want to carry, Dejik will hold onto. She can also pass them to Ayesha in combat as needed.

Dejik would like the scrolls of resurrection, greater restoration, and greater dispel magic.

Dejik isn't the type to use the summon monster scrolls, but if her companions thinks they will be useful, she will give it a try.
The rest of the scrolls are not on her spell list.

As far as the staffs go, the only one Dejik feels any resonance for is the staff of healing, but she will happily return it to the Riftwardens.

As far as purchasing items, Dejik doesn't yet have a cloak of resistance or a ring of protection,so she'd like to find those if possible. The other thing she will look for is an upgrade to her headband of charisma (it's currently +2).

Dejik stares at the plate mail, watching in awe as the emblem of Iomedae transformed itself into Shelyn's symbol. Nilus, my mother chose to gift this armor to you. I can't think of a clearer sign that your goddess and mine fight beside each other in this war.

Realizing that her spell is protecting Nilus, Dejik stretches her magic out to protect Sarkast, too. Then she quickly channels the power of life to counter the death demon.

Dejik uses a 5th level spell slot to cast Death Ward on Sarkast at reach (so she doesn't have to go into the room). Then spending 2 channels to quick channel to harm.

Channel to Harm (DC 24 for half): 7d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4) = 22

Quick question: At this level, Dejik can swap out one of her Oracle spells known for another one. I wanted to trade out Deathless for Death Ward, but that's one of her mythic spells. If she trades out Deathless, does Dejik just lose the mythic spell (since she would no longer know the non-mythic version)?

Or would you let her switch to a different mythic spell (probably Shield of Faith)?

Contingent actions for when it's Dejik's turn
Dejik has Status up on everyone, so she'll know if anyone is confused, dominated, etc.

If anyone is affected by the droning:

Recognizing the confused look on her comrades' faces, Dejik quickly chants a spell.
Spending a mythic point to Cast Calm Emotions to remove the confused condition.

If no one is affected by the droning:

If Ayesha says that the demon drains life or attacks with negative energy...
The image of Nilus's pale, gaunt face loomed in her mind, and she remembered the horror of watching her friend's life drain away. Never again, she whispered. Mother, protect Shelyn's servant, even as he protects those who serve you.
Spending a mythic point to cast Death Ward on Nilus. She'll have to move next to him to deliver the spell.

If Ayesha doesn't say anything about the demon using negative energy or death effects...
Dejik spends a Mythic Point to cast Mythic Prayer.

Oracle level 10 (Paladin 2:
New 5th level spells: Breath of Life, Mass Cure Light Wounds, Life Bubble
Bonus 4th level spell (favored class bonus): Holy Smite.

Mythic Tier 5 (Hierophant):
Mythic Saving Throw: Making a save against a non-mythic source negates all effects.

Mythic spell: Holy Smite.

Path ability:
Divine Metamastery (Su) (Mythic Adventures pg. 36): As a swift action, you can expend one use of mythic power and pick any one metamagic feat you know that increases the slot level of the spell by 0 levels or 1 level. For the next 10 rounds, you can apply this metamagic feat to any divine spell you cast without increasing the spell slot used or casting time. You can also use this ability on a divine spell cast from a scroll, staff, or wand.

Mythic feat: Taking Extend Spell as a bonus non-mythic feat.

While her companions study the room, Dejik meditates on her holy symbol. Spending a mythic point for Mythic Domain to refresh her domain abilities.

Hit point status, end of round:

Dejik has Shield Other up on Ayesha and Sarkast, so she takes half of whatever damage they take. In addition, Dejik takes 5 damage from everyone over the life link.

I'm not sure if Ayesha and Arushalae made their saves or if Arushalae is still immune to electricity. I'm assuming the worst case scenario.

OR - 81 (20, +19+22 Shield other, +20 LL)
Dejik take 3x more damage from the rest of the party than she does from the chain lightening. The system works as designed. :-)

Dejik reels as the lighting rips through her, then shrieks in pain as it continues on to hit both Ayesha and Sarkast. Barely able to concentrate through the pain, she summons another blast of holy energy--this time to heal her friends.

Channel to heal, excluding bad guys: 7d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3, 1, 4, 2, 2, 6) + 1 = 21
(ugh). Everyone heals 21, Dejik heals 34.

Swiftly, Dejik calls on Iomedae and Shelyn to heal her wounds.
Using Combat Healer and 2 3rd-level slots to cast Cure Serious on herself as a swift action.

Cure serious: 3d8 + 11 + 6 ⇒ (1, 8, 3) + 11 + 6 = 29

Hit point status, end of round:

Nilus - 38 (59-21)

Arueshalae 29 (50-21) OR 0 (18-21, Overflowing Grace)
Dejik - 37 (100-34) OR 17 (81-34)

Keenly aware of her friends' pain, knowing that another spell like that may well kill one or more of them, Dejik closes her eyes and grips her holy symbol, her knuckles as white as the silver itself. Enough..., she whispers through exhausted panting. Enough...in the name of Iomedae and all that is holy...for Shelyn...for all that is good and beautiful... Her eyes flick open, the familiar divine power shining in her off-color eye.

DIE!

Again, a white flash of holy energy explodes from the healer, engulfing the evil outsiders not once, but twice. Then she weakly sinks to her knees.

Move action to Quick Channel to harm evil outsiders, then spending a mythic point for another standard action to channel to harm again.

Quick Channel to harm evil outsiders, DC 23: 7d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 1, 2, 3, 2) = 22

Dejik's finds that her already-clouded vision is unaffected by the poisonous gas, and she can still make out the shapes of her friends and Vang. She tries to summon a wind to clear the gas out of the room.

Using Inspired Spell to cast Wind Wall at caster level 13. That gives her 26 continuous squares, and I've drawn a blue line on the map to show the path.

Dejik calls on her mother's power again, and sends another wave of divine energy across Vang and the demons. Move action to quick channel to harm evil outsiders.

Dejik steps back out of reach of the babau's weapon and quickly chants a spell. Another brilliant light bursts from her holy symbol and explodes behind Vang, catching the worm thing and two of the demons in the blast.

Dejik takes a deep breath as Sarkast pulls her free from the invisible force. Kiitos serkku.

Hallit:
Thank you, cousin!

Dejik stares at Vang and chants a spell. A wave of energy flows from her, revealing all invisible creatures.

If Vang is within 30 ft of Dejik:

Dejik turns and looks directly at Vang. You can't hide from me.

Struggling against the invisible force, Dejik reaches down to her belt and maneuvers a wand into her hand. With a single word, she summons Iomedae's sword and sends it flying towards Vang.

Dejik has blind sense, so she knows what square Vang is in. She also has a wand of Spiritual Weapon, which doesn't take a concentration check. She has the Spiritual Weapon attack Vang (with a very low attack bonus and 50% miss chance) so that her friends know where Vang is.

If Vang is more than 30 feet away:

Realizing it's useless to struggle against the invisible force, Dejik relaxes and focuses her power. Mother, help us find him, she whispers softly, reveal him to us...
If she succeeds on the concentration check, Dejik casts Invisibility Purge, at CL 11, with a radius of 55 feet.
Concentration Check to cast while grappled: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19

Dejik nods. Carrying Nilus's body into camp would devastate the troop's morale. We all rely on him so much--his commitment, his hope, his love. He keeps us fighting for the right reasons. Her voice cracks a bit. Nilus's presence kept me from falling into a dark spiral of anger and vengeance, and the faces of my fellow crusaders tell me that I'm far from the only one.

Dejik reads over the scrolls one more time, then closes her eyes and whispers, Mother, make me strong. Shelyn, help me to help your servant. Nilus, please come back to us.
Using Lay on Hands to activate Overflowing Grace, just in case she needs to make a wisdom check against a mishap.

She opens her eyes and begins reading, her voice naturally falling into the rhythm of the chanting.

Assuming nothing interrupts us during the full-minute casting:

Seconds tick away while Dejik continues the spell--ten, twenty, twenty-five. Slowly, the scroll begins to glow.

Thiry seconds. Small cracks and tears appear in the scroll, and light leaks out and flows up Dejik's hands.

Forty seconds. More light pours from the scroll, quickly enveloping Dejik in its magic. Her friends can't quite tell where Dejik ends and the scroll begins.

Fifty seconds. The light from Dejik and the scroll steadily increases, like the first rays of the morning sun clearing the horizon. Motes of even brighter light fly into the air as the top of the scroll begins to disintegrate. Dejik's face is strained, and her voice starts to falter...

Caster level check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

...but she finds the will to continue. Two more verses and her friend can live again. Dejik places her hand on Nilus's chest, and the power surrounds his body too, adding him to the amalgam of Dejik-and-scroll.

The light is nearly blinding, brighter than even the radiant burst of divine energy that Dejik often call from her holy symbol. Dejik trembles as she desperately tries to control the scroll's immense power.

Four more lines...now three...two...

Dejik forces her voice to call out the final line, and the two paladins are engulfed in brilliance. The others are forced to close their eyes and turn away.

When the light finally fades, Dejik and Nilus lay side by side, both exhausted--but both alive.

As Sarkast opens the magic bag, Dejik spots some of the scrolls they found earlier. Wait--let me see those.

Dejik reviews the scrolls and pulls out two of them. These...are resurrection scrolls...I...think I can cast them. She looks at the others. It will take me a few minutes--what do you think?

Dejik has 4 Restorations left for today. If we want to try one of the Resurrection scrolls, Dejik only needs a 3 on the caster level check. (Overflowing Grace will cut that down to a 2.) The biggest problem is that Resurrection takes a 10,000 gp diamond, unless it's already included in the scroll creation.

It would be better for morale if we all walked into camp--even staggering. Dejik isn't sure she can face Irabeth, Sosiel, and the troops if we bring back Nilus's body.

Dejik staggers forward, her divine energy depleted. She kneels beside Nilus's limp form. Her lower lip trembles. I... don't have the power to bring him back...I can't heal those black rays...perhaps Soseil...?

Her jaw clenches, and her clouded eyes glance at the two unopened doors in this room. We should take him back to camp. The rest of this place can wait.

I just realized that Dejik's most recent mythic tier gave her Eldritch Breach, which lets her roll twice to overcome spell resistance. (It's a standard path ability, not one she chose, and I just didn't see it.) If Dejik managed to damage the derakni with her spell, would that change their actions? (She'd be quite happy to draw their fire away from Nilus.

Regardless of your decision, this is Dejik's next action:

Dejik watches in helpless horror as the black waves of energy engulf her friend. Her magical connection to Nilus lets her feel his agony but does not allow her to help him. The magic rod drops from her trembling fingers and clatters to the floor.

Her shriek of rage is only partially swallowed by the magical silence, and the white light exploding from her mother's symbol is blinding. It burns steadily instead of disappearing in its usual flash.

Grief is one ailment that I have no remedy for, my friend, but these men made their choice. Our actions have consequences--we must all accept that in the end. She looks down at the remains of the adepts. Not long ago, I would have gladly been the instrument of divine retribution. My purpose was clear, and righteous fury guided my arrows home. And then I met you...

She gently wipes a smear of blood from the paladin's guantlet. You may not have been able to save these men, Nilus, but I believe you may have saved me.

She runs up behind Ayesha and touches the magus's shoulder. Borrow my eyes, sister, such as they are. Darkness clouds Dejik's vision once again, and she's surprised to realize she is still aware of the combatants on battlefield.

The hellhound's fire doesn't get past Dejik's fire resistance 5. Through the Status spell, Dejik is aware of Ayesha's condition. She moves up behind Ayesha and casts Accept Afliction. Ayesha's blindness transfers to Dejik.

Her holy symbol glows brighter. The blue lightning dances faster. Her jaw clenches tighter.

Finally, Dejik's eyes flick open. In the same instant, the blue lightning disappears and the holy power bursts free from her holy symbol and flies down the corridor, engulfing the Black Fire Adepts in a brilliant white explosion.

Dejik grins at Ayesha. A burst of blinding light--that's not a bad idea, sister! She drops her bow and draws a magic rod, one that that Aravashiniel taught her to use to make her spells more powerful.
