@Sarkast - go for it. Frankly, I think it's odd the RAW don't have a way to pull someone else out of a grapple. Also, Dejik can totally see Vang. He's added to the map.

As Dejik runs into the room, an unseen force seems to grab her. Even though he can't see it, Sarkast runs up to try to free her.

Escape Artist: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (8) + 21 = 29
Surge, if that doesn't succeed: 1d8 ⇒ 1
Gah! Hopefully 30 does it...

Also, you said you added Veng to the map, but I don't see him. Dejik's action depended on whether he was within 30' or not; which happened? If she got the Spiritual Weapon off, Ayesha and Nilus can tell which square he is in to try to attack.

GM, I'm posting two sets of Actions with some if/then statements

IF Dejik is still grappled after Sarkast's help THEN Nilus does the following

Nilus notices Dejik's positioning and realizes something is wrong, he whispers a prayer to Shelyn. Casting Liberating Command which gives Dejik an Immediate action to escape the grapple with a +14 bonus
If Nilus has some indication where Vang is, he will move and attack the creature

Radiance w/Smite: 1d20 + 18 + 2 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 18 + 2 + 6 = 29
Damage w/Smite: 1d10 + 18 + 2 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 18 + 2 + 7 = 37
miss chance 1-50: 1d100 ⇒ 4

IF Dejik is not grappled, THEN use the rolls above for a normal attack on Vang (including the miss chance roll if he's still invisible)

Nilus is smiting Vang, so no DR should effect him (unless its mythic, I don't think smite breaks mythic DR

I am waiting to see Vang's presence, if that is possible. I don't have a lot of options left on the magic front, but I know magic will be key to defeating him. If I know where he is, I can avoid wasting spells.

You did reset for the new day, didn't you? We're all at full power.

DC was 29 so jsut got it Sarkast.

Sarkast rushes in and expertly disentangles Dejik from the telekinesis spell. Dejik calls out where Vang is to Nilus; unfortunately he is 20' above the ground.

Nilus will know Vang is flying and out of melee rang. Ayesha, Dejik and Nilus still have actions! Sorry for the late post.

Yes, I did. But since he is only vulnerable to AOO spells, as per the knowledge check, and I don't have any AOO spells, I am having to use my mythic points every spell I cast.

Ayesha followed the direction of Dejik's pointing hand and launched another ball of lightning towards the dreaded worm-creature.

Ayesha sends in a lightningball which Vang dodges some of. Dejik then chants to her goddess... and succeeds! The invisibility spell fades from Vang, who hovers in the air, clutching his staff, his entire body naught but a mass of writhing worms in humanoid form. Dejik then sends a blast of holy energy which harms him as well.

Sarkast smiles as he sees Dejik's spell reveal the worm-demon, and in a blur of movement he darts up and down the wall, slashing at the creature as he goes past.

Second first, same as the first. Mythic point for fleet charge, running up the wall to attack Vang and move back down. Then move back up the wall, attack again, and fall afterward, landing directly under Vang. I'm assuming he's a demon, so I'll include the 1d6 damage for evil outsiders; if he's not, ignore that.

Acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (15) + 25 = 40

If sneak attack hits, target is Slowed (unable to make attacks of opportunity) for 1 round. In addition, target is Bewildered (-2 AC, -6 vs Sarkast) and Disoriented (-2 attack, -6 vs Sarkast) for 1 round. For each additional sneak attack, extend duration by 1 round or until a new effect is applied.

Thanking Nilus for his haste spell, Arueshalae gets a good bead on Vang, and lets her deadly blow get to work as it sends arrow after arrow at the worm. Some of the arrows appear to pass right through him, while others thump into him and fall. Only one manages to penetrate properly. As she damages him, you all see his wounds quickly heal as the worms breed amongst themselves, repairing the damage.

With Vang now properly sighted, he starts to send distractions. Casting spells far faster than anyone should be able to, he instantly summons three babaus. He then waves his hand, and a pit appears beneath Nilus and Arueshalae! The babaus stab out in a frenzy at Dejik and Sarkast but none of them hit. Arueshalae simply flies to the side of the pit, but Nilus may be in trouble.

You didn't mention Sarkast's attacks last round, is that because you are waiting for the save? If his first (swift action) attack failed, I might have chosen a different set of actions for his move and standard.

My question was about when it kicked in ... did I get any of my attacks in last round? If the first one failed (the swift action from a mythic point), then I have all of last round that I need to re-do, then this round ...

It kicked in last round the moment you approached him. His spell is set to minimum distance so you would have jumped towards him though. So feel free to re-do past that action.

OK, so the simplest retcon is that the mythic point was spent and the Fleet Charge was wasted when I hit the field; I would have landed under Vang. He hadn't summoned yet, so the logical response would be for Sarkast to try throwing his returning dagger.
Ranged attack, +1 returning dagger: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 32 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Angelic Attacks: 1d6 ⇒ 3

=======

At the start of the new round, the dagger reappears in Sarkast's hand. The summon has happened, so Sarkast now has two targets. Spend a mythic point for Mythic 2-Weapon Fighting, 5' step between them, and full attack. Start with the one on the stair; if by some chance it goes down, switch to the other.

Unable to reach Vang, Sarkast turns to the demons.
Primary Attack, Freedom's Kiss: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19 Damage, good, magic: 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 Angelic Attacks: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Primary Iterative Attack, Freedom's Kiss: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20 Damage, good, magic: 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 Angelic Attacks: 1d6 ⇒ 5

And again with the RNG hate.

Sarkast twists in the air as he's repulsed, but his dagger misses as it passes through Vang's displacement spell. On the gruond, Nilus leaps wildly to the side before he's swallowed up by a pit, and then busies himself ripping apart a babau. It falls to the ground before vanishing.

Ayesha sends out a ball of frezing cold which explodes, badly freezing one of the babau and Vang himself who moves too slow. Dejik sends a burst of light behind Vang, which he ignores, and follows up with a burst of holy energy. Vang and the babaus all scream in pain as they are scorched by Iomedae's light.

Landing on the ground, Sarkast sets to work on a far easier target as he repeatedly stabs one of the babau, killing it.

Arueshalae accesses some yellow-fletched arrows from her quiver, eyeballing Vang. "You will not escape us!" Her arrows fly wild, unfortunately as they are foiled by the worm's displacement spell.

Snarling as his body frantically knits the damage, Vang waves the staff in his hand, and a second cloudkill flows from it to choke the life out of the party! He then flies southwards through the cloud before two more babaus appear at the southern entrance. They all start attacking, but to little avail.

As the cloudkill spell moves, it will get broken up by the wind wall and not continue further in that direction. Right now, the big blue line is safe.Ayesha and Sarkast are up!

Ayesha choked and gagged from the cloudkill spell, hacking until Dejik's spell cleared the air around her. It seemed as if this Vang creature was resisting most of the damage from their spells. She couldn't keep this up for much longer. Concentrating, she cast another frigid ball into the room with Vang and the babau.

Before you explore the last room, you take a look over the equipment he had, which is considerable.

Vang's Equipment:

- lesser maxmimize metamagic rod
- quicken metamagic rod
- scroll of greater dispel magic
- scroll of limited wish
- staff of conjuration
- wand of mirror image (8 charges)
- unholy water (4)
- black robe of the archmagi
- headband of mental prowess +4 (grants ranks in bluff and sense motive)
- ring of major fire resistance
- ring of protection +5
- rod of withering
- adamantine key worth 1,800
- bejeweled key worth 1,000
- iron skeleton key
- statuette worth 3,500

You set out to explore the rest of the Ivory Sanctum. You begin by exploring what appears to be Vang's chamber in the southwest.

A seven-armed rune is inscribed in a circle of iron on the floor
of this large room. Black candles sputter here and there around the circle's outer ring. Several cabinets and bookshelves filled with scrolls, tomes, and strange objects sit against the northern, eastern, and southern walls, along with a writing desk. To the southwest is a stone sarcophagus, and a flight of stairs leads down to a smaller cave-like hollow to the west. What appear to be dead, finger-length worms-some shriveled and some still slimy-are scattered throughout the room and its furnishings.

The bookshelves are an impressive library on magical resource on planar energies, portals, and the Abyss. There is also a collection of texts on Sarkorian history and lore, and the Dark Tapestry. These books are likely worth around 12,000 and the Riftwardens would certainly be interested. This is likely a collection of texts unmatched in Avistan.

Other magical items are scattered around this room:

Magic Items in Vang's Room:

- a word bottle
- a silver raven figurine of wondrous power with too many eyes and legs
- 5792 gold in gold and platinum
- 4,500 worth of gemstones
- two taxidermist spiders the size of housecats - these are apparently retriver drones, for controlling gigantic spider-shaped constructs. You have not encountered these creatures yet

Sarkast's Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (12) + 20 = 32

Sarkast manages to find a secret compartment in the sarcophagus, buried beneath some dead worms. Within is a Type IV bag of holding. The following are found:

- Xanthir Vang's spellbook collection worth 12,000 gold or so
- A slender mithral key worth 500

Furthermore, in an adjacent room Vang apparently used for research within is a treasure chest. This one appears to be magically protected with a very strong lock.

I'll break the wall of text here so you guys can try to deal with the lock, and talk about what you've found so far.

Ayesha pulled back from Gejik and began searching the rooms with her arcane sight, looking for the magical artifacts that she knew must be around. Between them, she and Sarkast found quite a bit of loot, and she began calling out the items and their properties as she identified them.

She was very interested in the spellbooks and the robe. The garment made her skin crawl and she hesitated for a moment about what to do with it. Finally, she said, "The robe is very dangerous. Do not put it on, or even allow it to wrap around you. If we can use the forge back at Drezden to redeem it, then it should be a huge boon to me or any other spellcaster. if not...it should be destroyed. Then, once the magical items had been identified, she turned her attention to the books. And what a collection they were. She cold spend months in these volumes and still not finish them all. Working in tandem with Sarkast, she piled the books into their new bag of holding.

Sarkast flips open the journal, recognizing the alphabet from his demon-hunter training. "These are the symbols of the demonic tongue, but used in a strange way. Someone will have to decipher it." He places it back into the chest, then places the chest into the magic sack as well.

Ayesha Jalal wrote:
"The robe is very dangerous. Do not put it on, or even allow it to wrap around you. If we can use the forge back at Drezden to redeem it, then it should be a huge boon to me or any other spellcaster. if not...it should be destroyed. It is simply too powerful an aid to an evil mage."

Sarkast nods. "Yes, the forge is a good idea. And you are right, if it cannot be redeemed, it must be destroyed."

Unless I've missed something, I don't see anything else to do here except open the "eerily silent" door. Does anyone else?

Female Magus 12 | AC 26 T 16 F 21| HP 102| F +9 R +9 W +8 | Init +11 | Perc +18

Ayesha took only a moment to look at the journal before holding it out to Arushelae. "I think it's written in Abyssal, maybe? You are the one best suited here to translate."

Ayesha is trying really hard not to squeal in desire for that headband...unless Dejik needs it to boost her spellcasting abilities. Also interested in the Ring of Prot +5, the metamagic rods, and the robe if we can convert it.

Female CN Succubus Master Spy 6 / Trickster 3 | HP: 223/223 | AC: 31 (19 Tch, 25 Fl) | CMB: +17, CMD: 36 | F: +14, R: +17, W: +14 | Init: +9 | Perc: +27, SR: 18 | Speed 40ft Fly 50 ft (avg) | Mythic Power 7/9, Surge +1d6

You ID's everything but I'll use Ayesha's roll for the empty vials.

Ayesha looks carefully over the empty vials. They once contained powerful transmutation magic and looked like they could imbue the drinker with great power of some variety.

Arueshalae's wings twitch as she looks over the vial with Ayesha.

"These must have been the Nahyndrian elixirs Vang was working on... capable of turning a demon into a demigod or worse. Vang had clearly consumed one of them. This is the mightiest weapon for the abyssal forces. He had his method of converting the crystals, but the question is where they came from."

After divvying up and discussing what you've found, you move on towards the final area of the temple left unexplored. You now stand outside of the deathly silent door. Sarkast's enhanced senses pick up the beating of hearts, the movement of insects, and the rustle of hair. The silence is highly unusual.
