Daniel will take up one of his Amentumed javelins and tried his luck in response to the goblin that took a shot at him. He whirls it over his head and throws.

Yes, which honestly works for us as well... I count 8 sentries. 2 in the watch tower, 2 patrolling, the other 4 remaining as stationary guards. He whispers pointing them out. He does another glance over. Assaulting the fort would be dangerous, deadly. Luckily, the plan was only to keep there attention for a time. Which was still plenty dangerous enough.

It may be best to try and approach from the west if we can. There seems to be an entrance in there. He whispers further

I'm fine with moving on from it, and assuming things went well. Also, I'd say he learns some more smithing techniques, to warrant taking some crafting skills and/or the armor smight fighter advanced armor training option.

Daniel comes in looking tired but oddly refreshed and a little dirty.

Ahhh, that was nice. No need to constantly worry and second guess my choices, just pure old maintenance. It was actually comforting you know. Sure now I'm stressed about putting off all the other stuff, but, it was nice for the time haha He takes several long draws from his drink before ordering two bowls of stew.

Sorry everyone! My area got hit by a hurricane and I've been without power since thursday! it was supposed to go 60+miles west of our area but we got hit dead on. Caught folks by surprise. I also cant login to my account from my phones web browser for some reason. I finally managed to get access to a computer for a day though. And I wanted to let you all know. I hope to have power again by Friday, though it could be as long as next Thursday. If I have time today i'll try to post, but its doubtful.

I don't know a whole lot about crafting them yet, but I do at least know a a fair deal about maintenance and refurbishing. And I'll probably have spare time over the next few days. Daniel spends his time largely talking with people and being friendly with the other tables. He was about to head to the councilman when he hears Astella talking about the other party and he moves over to pipe in.

Well, If you see them again, please tell them to come see us in welnin, we might have some work for them if they are interested. I can get something written if you'd prefer. He starts looking around his person before glancing towards Astella.

Daniel shrugs a little as he responds to the question.

Either or ideally, the infiltration team would need a way to signal that they've released the hostages, or, a way to signal the plan is a bust. From there, the idea would be for the mobile barrier to be able to either advance or retreat. Perhaps we could also place rungs on the barriers, to act as a sort of ladder if needed. But that would need more wood, and add more weight. Either way, the primary goal would be to keep those in the fort distracted for the team sneaking in. Since if everything goes, mostly, to plan. We could potentially take advantage of the chaos and confusion caused by it.

Daniel will let out a small sigh. He wasn't learned in siege warfare, hell he wasn't even sure this all could be pulled off under the best circumstances. But he continued to do his best to at least seem confident.

well, no not vehicles, they'd be moved by people. Moreso a bunch of planks nailed together, or just sheets of wood, with thick mounds of straw or hay attached behind it. So if an arrow did pierce the, relatively, thin wall they would hopefully have lost enough momentum the straw would catch it. He responds nodding in agreement with the dwarf.

We could make sure to douse them in water before we start, which should help some. And I think them being bigger than tower shields would be better. Likely needing at least two people to move one at a time. More likely 3 to a segment. Perhaps with a handle on the back that lets them move it easier.

He turns to Astella.

Well, honestly, I have no idea how exactly to go about making these things practical, that I think would be better left to others. But, I don't particularly want to leave no one here... He pauses before turning to Estelle.

Daniel will give a slightly embarrassed grin at the Druid elder, Well, I meant like, a stronger cooperation between the towns here in the dale. Perhaps a joint effort on some way to easily signal the others if something like this were to happen again. he adds quickly But He is right, we should focus on the larger problem at hand.

Turning back to the main group, he speaks of his crazy idea.

Well, If there is a read door entrance, and we can keep their attention focused on shooting at us in the front, perhaps a team could sneak in and release the captives easier. Daniel gets a thoughtful look on his face.

I have a few ideas on how we could keep there attention, and their arrows, on us without, well, hopefully without harm. But it involves a lot of wood, hay, and well, labor. Basically, large, mobile platforms that would function as walls for us. But, we would need ways to combat fire arrows...

As the discussion goes on, Daniel thinks back to his adventures in Stone City and sighs with a half grin.

Daniel, having taken time to organize the equipment taken from the fallen, as well as directing any potential needed defensive reconstruction, makes it back to the group as Strom started his questioning.

You catch more flies with honey, than vinegar strom. Both from prisoners and onlookers. He says with a slight grin, moving to give the goblin prisoners some water before sitting down in front of them. There is a gentle kindness in his eyes masking hardness underneath as he speaks.

Daniel tries to buy some room for the others by stepping up to the lead goblins side. Before taking a swing. He stabs out as he moves, trying to get some of the momentum added to his thrust.

technically, RAW animal companions that aren't mounts are pretty bad. Since RAW, the only thing that 3 int does is give them more tricks, and they can somewhat understand a language if they are taught it, oh and it opens up their feat selection.

there is this paragraph however-
Even if an animal’s Intelligence increases to 3 or higher, you must still use the Handle Animal skill to direct the animal, as it is a smart animal rather than a low-intelligence person (using awaken is an exception— an awakened animal takes orders like a person). The GM should take the animal’s Intelligence into account when determining its response to commands or its behavior when it doesn’t have specific instructions. For example, an intelligent wolf companion can pick the weakest-looking target if directed to do so, and that same wolf trapped in a burning building might push open a door or window without being told.

So, you could say "attack the weakest" and it would try to do so, even if you don't direct it towards the weakest enemy, or even if you can't point it out.
