How does ricochet shot work when firing spells through a gun? Does it work? Making a baddy for my (incredibly over powered) group. Thats one idea I had, and im looking for more stuff to do to really give them a run for their money.

Grand Lodge

If I give common Foot Soldiers Muskets (for a French Revolution inspired camp), how would that adjust their CR? Are there general rules for this sort of thing?

Grand Lodge

Whats the damage die for a pistol whip without having the Pistol Whip deed? I'm making a Picaroon and I was wondering what my options were for when I run out of bullets. I dont want to be in the fray with a lump of iron in my hand.

Grand Lodge

I am going into a new group with lots of people who will be playing for the first or second time, and I decided I would put a spin on the whole game. I am going to be LE, something they probably wont see coming, and a negotiator at that.
What I'm getting to is, how can I better convince them that I am just a eccentric trick playing gnome while being evil the whole time? Undetectable alignment is a given.

Grand Lodge

I just finished reading a chapter in Words of Radiance with Kaladin and Wit where I was just so inspired to create Wit, the bard. (not named Wit, of course) I am gonna go with Court Bard, of course. I just need more race/feat/weapon help. Not help, but rather, inspiration. Let me know your thoughts!

Silver Crusade

Two questions. Will it hurt my players if they are ice based wizards/sorc/witches? I dont want to give them their best option outright, but i dont want to set them up for failure.

and also, How long, on average, should it take to finish each book, as well as books in any others?

Does anyone out there know when the Witchwar Legacy took place? In what year? Its Kinda going along with the way I'm going to do the Reign of Winter adventure path. Any info on the Witchwar or the topic in general would be most appreciated! Tips and tricks and the like,

Grand Lodge

Eldricth Knight. Or do you not recommend it at all?

Grand Lodge

I'm looking for a good intro into the world of Golarion, that will encompass much and more of the beautiful world that they have made up for us. Which pre-gen adventure should I run for them?

Grand Lodge

As the title implies, can my good magus cast "evil" spells (infernal healing is the spell in question) without being evil? I mean, its arcane, and according to arcane (well, the way I see it at least) is that good and evil are relative. Advice?

Grand Lodge

What all material does herolab have? Like, could I make a fetchling magus on there? Can't really find a reliable sum of product details so I figured I'd ask people who own it.

Running a campaign and it starts in Kerse. I'm just trying to get a real good feel for the setting of that city, so I'm looking to start a discussion about it and get some good ideas for nice descriptions and temperaments of the people there. So, what do you think?

Grand Lodge

Trying to make a Elric style (with intelligent sword and all) fetchling starsoul sorcerer. What would be the proper magic items to turn a frail sickly weak sorcerer into a combat capable force of terror for my PCs? (BTW he will be main enemy)

Grand Lodge

So, if I start to find that my PCs are having too easy of a time what is the proper way to make my game more challenging? Should I just pump CR or do I beef monsters individually? What are some of the better techniques out there?

Scarab Sages

Making a lvl 15 sorcerer as the main bad guy of this campaign that i'm running, Starsoul bloodline Fetchling. He is a neutral caster with an intelligent blade, sort of a fetchling Elric. Looking for help building because I've never ran a sorcerer. Looking for good feats and spells. Tryin to do a slippery type bad guy, very light on his toes and hard to get at (at lower lvls at least) Someone who can display great power without TPKing everyone as soon as they meet.

Grand Lodge

ALright. One of my players wants to run a half elf half strix (wingless) I'm guessing for RP reasons but I'm having a hard time justifying it. She is super excited to play this and I'm done trying to turn her down. Any good advice out there?

Grand Lodge

Like, say they were in an EXTREMELY shifty part of the world, and someone sneaks them, or convinces them to try and extremely addictive drug. Is that too underhanded? I think it'd make for great RP situations. Is there a right way to do this?

Scarab Sages

as the title says, I'd just like some hints and help with doing prep, dealing with problem PCs, treasure, encounters, making sure I can run the game I want to run, but fun.

Grand Lodge

as far as point buy goes, what do you reccomend? I want to nip minmaxing, but I want to make the PCs a little bit tougher than your average bandit, but I want combat to still be tough. like, more brains less power gaming, trying to keep it away from the anime/video game realm and more into the way fantasy roleplaying used to be. So, what points do you reccomend?

Sovereign Court

But the paints are just.. Well.. You've seen them! Do the acrylic paints at like, Hobby Lobby work as well? Or, where can I find cheap paints, rather? I miss the enjoyment of painting my own figures for my games!

Grand Lodge

is there a good paizo/pathfinder podcast out there? or do you have one? looking for something to get good info about GMing and just generally playing pathfinder. funny stories or useful advice, that sort of thing.

Grand Lodge

I'm wondering if there are any players out there who have really played around with the alt rogue Scroll Scoundrel class. if so I'd like to get some build advice, and just generally see what other people think about the class. Thanks!

Grand Lodge

If you have experience with both, which oneis more fun overall? Looking for a pregen to run in my early stages of GMing

Grand Lodge

Do you secret roll it, or do you announce that a roll needs to be made?
The reason I ask is, one:Will secret rolls help to cut down metagaming, and 2:Loooking for the best way to do it, about to start GMing. Tried once before and it flopped.
Any other GM advice would be awesome as well, especially how to deal with unruly players. Thanks!

Grand Lodge

I'm wondering on the right way to build my Ranger for kingmaker. I'm thinking about going the horselord route, but my question is how ofter would i be able to participate in mounted combat? Is it worth it to go that route?

Scarab Sages

By mob I don't mean 'monster or beast' first off. I'm talking about large scale battles in pf. How would you/have you done combat like this? Just ant to hear some ideas and mull some stuff around,
Thanks!

Grand Lodge

Can I remove drunkenness with lay on hands?

Grand Lodge

Heirloom weapon trait states that you can pick either a simple or martial weapon,
Bastard sword says it can be used two handed as a martial weapon, one handed with exotic weapon proficiency.
Now, what do you think? Should this be allowable? Or am I just trying to get away with a technicality here..

Scarab Sages

Anyone got stats on something like that? Or is there an official weapon block

Grand Lodge

Is there one? But if not, what's the best way to make a character on a tablet? On the nexus7 and its all i got to work with.

Scarab Sages

Can anyone give me pointers on PbPs? Just the basics. I wan't to get into one but I'd like to know a little bit about etiquette before I go in blind

Grand Lodge

And how do I do it? I'm new to the forums

Scarab Sages

How long did it take you to get into your first PbP? I'm very keen on the idea, but I just started the message boards. Doesn't seem like anyone wants to bite the hooks I'm throwin out. . .

Grand Lodge

Where do they come from mostly? I'm wondering if my tengu would fit into a jade regent campaign, and I would like to know more about tengus in general. Also, where is slavery most prominent in Golarion?

Basically: Would my ex-slave tengu swordmaster work in a Jade Regent campaign?

Grand Lodge

Can a medium creature wield a small sized weapon one handed? Like, a small sized greataxe in one hand.

Grand Lodge

I'm new to this, and I'm not too sure how it works, but I know how PF works. Interested in joining a game, so if I fit the criteria, message me!

Grand Lodge

I was wondering the best way to have the pc's roll up characters. I'm sick of seeing over powered players pull an entire party curve because of questionable stats, and I dont want to have to keep buffing encounters because of one or two players. I've been considering doing the point system, but what do you think?

Background Synopsis::

Flying Sword is a calligrapher and a swordsman with a violent and arrogant past. His calligraphy has helped ease his spirit, and his swordplay has benefited from it. In finding peace, he has gained some measure of enlightenment, and changed sword styles from an external style to an internal style.

Personality Synopsis::

He has an intense sense of honor, and pride in his homeland, and he will sacrifice his life for what is right. Unlike his past self, he is relatively jovial and easygoing - rarely taking insult and rarely giving it. Though he was not always this way, and his past has earned him many enemies.

Appearance::

His appearance is that of a simple man in his early 30s, wearing brown silken robes and carrying in his left hand a straight longsword sheathed in a black wooden scabbard. He has long black hair partially tied up in a topknot, and faint stubble dotting his chin.

Expanded Backstory::

Flying Sword is more than a merely-capable swordsman. A genius with the blade and a prominent student of the Illustrious Golden Crane Zin Sun-hai, he has a troubled past from which he seeks to absolve himself.

In his youth, he was a braggart and despite his skill and his school, he treated most of those whom he met as rivals at best and enemies at worst. He would often resort to violence as a first option, and sought to taunt and tempt those he met into provoking him to such.

Through his master, Zin Sun-hai, Flying Sword was encouraged to develop a rivalry with Chu Zhu Ji, prodigious student of his master's twin Lee Sun-tsi. While he initially thought Chu Zhu Ji's skill far below his own, she was able to earn his begrudging respect (if not animosity) for her talents.

As he grew, he grew stronger and his skill was honed by the myriad enemies he made as he traveled. He continued on like this, caught in a downward spiral of dishonor and ultimate self-destruction until he heard of the demon Courage Devouring Shadow.

Such was his arrogance that he sought the demon out and foolishly challenged it. He was quickly crushed, and shown that his ultimate skill and his ego were as nothing before the demon's own power. All things in life which he knew to be true up until that moment were shattered, and his ultimate defeat brought about the balance of his Qi: his over-abundant Yang balanced with his Yin and he was forever changed.

He is uncertain how he escaped annihilation at the hands of Courage Devouring Shadow, and it is a topic he has often explored in thought and calligraphic meditations. Ultimately, he is unsure if he actually survived the fight. For the man who he once was is gone.

Seeking to make right his past misdeeds, he has devoted himself to calligraphy, as it's essence and that of swordsmanship are identical. His first effort was to reconcile with Chu Zhu Ji and the two became steadfast allies, having many subsequent adventures - including forming the Five Tigers of the Borderlands, and defeating Courage Devouring Shadow.

He wields a magnificent relic named "Black Metal Sword" - a very heavy sword with a razor-sharp edge made of nearly indestructible black metal. It was used by the legendary Dugu Quibai, and found by Yang Guo. It requires great amounts of Qi to wield the blade.
