We were able to get a working IEP in place again, but have to sort out the mess over classification within the next week. (They are bending over backwards not to change his classification to ASD from OHI.) And I so love reading laws. They're so clear and straightforward. :/

Sunday's too busy with Moms and wife. And it is expected to rain tomorrow. An afternoon movie should be nice. $5 a ticket too!

So, I was playing with dice on and around St Patrick's day, and I had an idea; an idea that I am now shocked I never ran into before, and I'd like feedback on it from gamers with more experience out in the gaming world than I. (Which I assume is most of you, but I'd love feedback from any and all.)
It's a method of character ability score generation. "Take 18 d6s and roll them all at once. Now arrange three dice of your choosing next to the six abilities until all 18 dice are assigned. You may juggle the dice around, but no re-rolls (no, not ever ones). Once you have assigned three dice to each score, you've got your abilities."
1. Anybody ever seen this before?
2. Too much fun?
3. Too persnickety?
4. Other?
I'd love to hear what people think. I thought it was fun, and the only guinea pigs I had at the time were my two youngest nephews (not new to RPing, by the way -- I started them real young!), and they thought it was fun.

Who over here has some Arabic? I need help with this. Too bad Google Translator doesn't give Latin letter transliterations. I assume it's Al Suq something wa-something.

Yes we did an entire campaign that way. guy I have gamed with for years Larry came up with the idea back in 1990 and the game lasted until 2002 or so. Heavily house ruled 1st edition game. I um caused a stir when I pulled the ultimate Yahtzee. Thats right CrimJ did the ultimate roll. 18d6 I rolled 18 6's!!!! I had witnesses. 8 of them. All speechless, myself included. That was hands down the most billy badassed character EVER. Jack the Archer-Ranger.

My DM likes heroic campaigns. So, his Ability scores are as follows:
Roll 4d6, dropping the lowest die.
Repeat 12 times, assign them how you want.
For his next game, I rolled 17, 17, 16, 16, 16, 16. Playing a Dwarf Rogue (Thredorik Trapspringer [job title]) After assigning racial mods, he's got STR 17, DEX 17, CON 18, INT 16, WIS 18, CHA 14. :D

Morning all!
Who over here has some Arabic? I need help with this. Too bad Google Translator doesn't give Latin letter transliterations. I assume it's Al Suq something wa-something.
Lemme see here .....
One b#&@* is that Google trans doesn't put in the diacritical marks on the Arabic. That's like leaving the vowels out of a Roman alphabet word and trying to figure out how to say it. Hmm.. Best guess:
Souk al-tajaar wa al-Lossous
I know 'Lossous' is theives, I remember that one. And, Tajr is merchant, so 'tajaar' must be the plural (Arabic has a really complex set of plurals) Hope that helps Leafy.
Edit: Doing a quick Google scan, the best Roman transliteration looking at actual Arabic sites translated would be:
Souq al-Tajjar wa al-Lussuss .. I'd go with what the actual native speakers translate it as. It's always a crap shoot trying to find the proper letters to approximate.

It's when I see things like that I wish I had a girlfriend so I could say that my birthday-present troubles are over.

Why change him from ASD to OHI?
Kellen is listed as OHI. Not sure of the differences though. Sorry things are rough for you guys right now. (((hugs)))

Damn it.
Put the truck in the shop to take care of a couple of concerns. I was given the verdict that I have been dreading to hear, "Mr. 'Thulhu, after we take care of this, it's time to start thinking seriously about replacing the truck".
I see the odds of getting a new Harley this year dwindling before my eyes...

No, we're trying to get it changed from OHI to ASD. Mostly because the school refuses to deal with the autism aspect of his behavior challenges and the change of classification means being able to get the autism consultant into the classroom without having to spend the entire year proving 'need'. :/
They swear that there's no difference between classifications but then why make such a fuss about changing it? Sigh. I hate bureaucracy. Thanks for the hugs. And I'm glad that Kellen is doing so much better. :)
