From Archives of Nethys: Commoner

While their Strength modifier is +3, their melee attack does 1d4+2 damage, instead of 1d4+3.

From Core Rulebook: Melee damage roll = damage die of weapon or unarmed attack + Strength modifier + bonuses + penalties.

Could someone tell me what I am getting wrong? Is there any penalty implied?

Since a Pantheon grants both a favored weapon and divine domains (the prerequisites in order for the Syncretism feat to offer any mechanical benefits), I would allow it. It's up to you to offer an interesting in-game explanation for your choice, though!

Update: I've almost finished Odessa's posing, but I had to get some help with it because I was making a couple very silly mistakes. I know how to fix it now. It's funny how easy problems are to see when someone else points them out to you. :)

I know drawing takes time. And if you have time, can you do Pascal and Skyler in your style?

Thanks Laclale, I clicked absently on your link and realized that I hadn't provided the right one -_- So This is it

In relation to your professional involvement in the RPG industry, have you ever received criticism so profound that it ended up being a life-changing experience, a watershed moment?

What happens to animals when they die? Are they judged by Pharasma? Do they get to evolve into creatures of higher intelligence eventually?

Are there any canon plot elements revolving around the Isle of Kortos which are related to a) the Cthulhu Mythos or b) Milani ?

222) We got it all wrong, Aroden never died and the Age of Glory is actually what is currently happening across Golarion (including his decision to stop granting any more divine magic). The prophecy was fulfilled, it's just that our interpretation of the term "glory" is vastly different than Aroden's. But hey, deities work in mysterious ways.

Was able to peek at the Arcadia map and get a summary of the new regional info thanks to a kindly redditor - I’m so, so pleased. The map is gorgeous!

Yay!!! :-D That's exciting news!

You are kidding me....

Binge-browsing the "Ask [...] anything" threads and I stumble across two random people describing what is also my dream Adventure Path, which I hope one day to run as GM...

My idea of the premise is the appearance of gigantic tsunamis that cause major catastrophes across the port cities of Avistan. If I ever make it happen, the plot will somehow shoehorn the algollthus, the cult of Dagon and the demons of the Moonscar in the story (moon... tides... somehow it will make sense, I hope). And of course the tragic story of the two deific lovers who sacrificed themselves in order for Golarion to live.

At least I have the trailer ready, with Rezallian himself narrating... (one can always dream).

Wow, thank you so much!!! The advice of incorporating the effects of those numbers in the narration is amazing! I am very grateful for your input! :-) And about the math, I've started watching the Band of Bravos episodes (yeah I'm somewhat late to the party...) and I think I can tell that even the +1 "inspiration" bonus from the bard can indeed in many cases make a difference...

Do you do secret checks?

I also take the liberty of omitting the question part, in order to express my sincere gratitude for anything you have done so far for the Pathfinder community and Paizo.

Even though I am a new member, I have already come to deeply appreciate the game (for both its gameplay and fascinating lore) and the people behind the curtain that make the magic happens. And, for various reasons, I have come to especially appreciate and admire you, in particular.

Keep calm and roll Nat 20s !!! :-)

P.S. I can't wait for Guns and Gears and Kingmaker!!!

I also find it odd that they mention that you can't break sturdy walls with out tools and downtime, yet provide HP, hardness, and BT anyway. It's like they had no idea how they wanted players to interact with walls and the section just ended up being a bunch of mumbo jumbo.

I believe the intention was to prevent certain players from abusing the capability of breaking walls during exploration of let's say the rooms of a haunted house (Malevolence adventure F.T.W.). I interpret it as something more similar to "it's in the GM's rights to tell you that you can't break every wall in the game".

As for providing HP, hardness and BT, it could be useful for a downtime activity too. Let's say, the GM decides that a "smash the wall" downtime activity takes 1 hour and at the end of each hour you make an attack roll and you compare your result with the wall's characteristics in order to deduce how much damage/progress you have made. You can also rule that if one day has passed (24 downtime activities, 1 hour duration each, 24 * size of party total attack rolls) and no sufficient damage has been made, then an event is triggered.

At least that's how I would do it.

I apologize for the long text but I was really interested in hearing your thoughts about the issue I describe below and I wanted to articulate it as clearly as possible, since English is not my mother tongue. It is a one-time post and by no means I intend to start a debate or anything like that. I also honestly apologize for bringing again the "problem" of the nation of Rahadoum. I use it as an example and, for my part, I won't mention it again (I swear to the Everbloom's mighty morningstar).

I've been thinking for some time that the introduction of atheism in a high fantasy polytheistic setting such as Golarion is somewhat problematic, when it is portrayed as an alternative philosophy that is associated with freethinkers, skeptics and philosophers of the broader sense. And that is because it usually ends up being framed in a "science vs religion" context that, due to its importance as far as real life issues are concerned, it becomes disproportionally appealing to be enforced in a fictional world that clearly does not work like that.

Kassi Aziril has been labeled as "mother of modern medicine", was protected by the atheist nation of Rahadoum when other people tried to plagiarize her work, accused Sarenrae of bloodthirstiness without any clarification that canonically speaking she was wrong and she even caused the wrath of Queen Abrigail II who tried to murder her for blasphemy, only for the Red Mantis assassins to refuse to do that (!). To my understanding, Kassi is portrayed as an Hypatia-like figure and the aforementioned events create sympathy towards her essentially "science vs religion" fight. And it wouldn't matter if it was just one character but, first, she suddenly appears to be one of the Legends and virtually unchallenged to her claims (by a character in Legends or anywhere else) and, second, she is supported by Rahadoum whose portrayal I also find to be problematic; a nation that persecutes religious minorities to the point of physical extermination is set as lawful Neutral and one of its highlight points is that its citizens, due to their atheistic philosophy, are well-educated and well-versed in rhetoric and philosophy, something that as far as I can tell every devotee of a good deity is, since good deities admit their infallibility. No good deity claims omniscience or omnipotence. It makes sense, in a high fantasy setting, for clerics of good deities to be skeptics, freethinkers and even pioneers of science and philosophy. To me it seems like introducing, for the sake of inclusiveness, skeptics who oppose magic and introduce a "rationality vs magic" debate in the world of Golarion.

What worries me is that this sympathetic stance, justified in real life where "science vs religion" is a serious and understandable issue, encourages official content where the trope of mocking (fictional) gods and (fictional) priests is more common than what it would be reasonable lorewise. As in the case of the familiar of the legendary alchemist Artokus Kirran (who Kassi praises him as her teacher), which mocks the psychopomp sent by Pharasma to check on Artokus by eating her spiders (source: Legends). In pathfinder novels, I have met this trope more times, at least in my humble opinion, than it is justified in a world where good deities are clearly a force of... well, good, and the default stance of the average sentient being is to at least pay some lip service to the gods.

What are your thoughts on this? Am I overthiking it? Am I terribly biased? Again, sorry for the wall of text... the concept of deities and clerics in a high fantasy setting is one of my favorites and it seems to me that they have begun to appear less important (for lack of a better word) than they deserve :-/

P.S.: I know I have mentioned this before but... no clerics in Legends? The divinely inspired people seem to have taken the backseat in Age of Lost Omens :-( (though I admit there is a Champion mentioned).

P.S. 2: Even Bachuan, with all the despicable acts (enforcement of atheism with subsequent persecution of religious minorities, re-education camps, no freedom of speech etc) is labeled as lawful Neutral.

Is it a missed opportunity not having established Milani as the patron deity of Ravounel?

I have started writing some (short) Pathfinder fan fiction. I would like to share my stories with the community and possibly get some feedback (though english is not my mother tongue, but I'm trying to catch up...). But I am not sure how to do this properly. Do you have any advice or suggestions to offer? Would Paizo ever be interested in having a "share your Pathfinder fan fiction" section under the Fiction category on the website?

I was thinking that it would be highly immersive to have an intro playing before the start of a session in order to get in the mood, similar to cartoons or tv series. And thus I created one of my own to share with the community, in case there are other people here that also find this idea appealing! :)

Any feedback/comment is always more than appreciated. Credits given in the description. Video link

During my previous session, I implied in front of my party (in-game) that one of our members might be of evil alignment. I did this with the intention to eventually use Detect Alignment, in order to deduce that I was wrong and she was not evil after all or to confirm my suspicions and expose her. However, I realized that this spell won't work, since she is only level 2 at the moment.

I really do not wish to keep distrust alive between us. On the other hand, suddenly ignoring my suspicions and pretending that I was convinced of her innocence seem really inappropriate and meta-gaming to me.

Is there any other way to deduce if she is of evil alignment? Perhaps through a skill check or a spell that I overlooked which deals damage only to evil creatures? Any feat?

I am a level 2 human cleric of Sarenrae.

I once saw a player roll a 17. Followed by a 6. Then a 2. Then a 14. Then a 20. Then a 10. Then a 5. Then a 9. Then a 12.

Thats absolutely incredible. The chances of that set of rolls is
1 in 20^9.

I bet nobody has EVER seen this run of dice before. Or ever will again.

So underappreciated comment...!
