From Archives of Nethys: Commoner

While their Strength modifier is +3, their melee attack does 1d4+2 damage, instead of 1d4+3.

From Core Rulebook: Melee damage roll = damage die of weapon or unarmed attack + Strength modifier + bonuses + penalties.

Could someone tell me what I am getting wrong? Is there any penalty implied?

I am building a Summoner that I'd like to hold a Longspear, which is an exclusively 2-handed weapon.

I am aware that the rules for somatic components state that: "You can use this component while holding something in your hand, but not if you are restrained or otherwise unable to gesture freely". However, I am not sure if by RAI this includes the case where the caster wields a 2-handed weapon. I am not sure if this satisfies the "gesturing freely" requirement.

Any thoughts? Have any clarifications already been made by someone from the developer team?

I'm having problems connecting to pathfinderwiki.com for the last two weeks and I was wondering if any other people are dealing with the same problem or if perhaps it is something related to my computer or ISP.

Is anyone else facing connection issues? The website will eventually load but it might take even a minute or so. I do not have these problems when I'm browsing other sites.

I am trying to wrap my head around the chase rules from Game Mastering Guide and I have a hard time understanding this section:

Quote:
Run Away: The PCs attempt to escape. They’ll go first in initiative since they’re being pursued. It’s usually best to start them one obstacle ahead of their foes and end the chase if they reach a certain location or are three obstacles ahead of their foes at the end of a round.

If I understand the rules correctly, at the beginning of the chase (let's say players are the pursued) the NPC pursuers are only one obstacle behind. During each round, players have the chance to win the required amount of Chase Points in order to advance to the next obstacle and the Chase Point Pool is reset to zero. Pursuers automatically advance during this round, so they will always be following just 1 obstacle behind (or they will catch up with the players, if the latter have failed to win the required amount of Chase Points).

So under which circumstances they players can widen the distance between them and their pursuers, in order to be three obstacles ahead?

I am not sure I understand the purpose of having items with level greater than 20. Presumably, an item's level is an indicator of its suitability for a PC (e.g. a level 2 character should usually interact with items of level 2 or less). What does a level 21 item indicate?

From the archives of Nethys (https://2e.aonprd.com/Deities.aspx?ID=131)

Winlas grants these cleric spells:
Cleric Spells 1st: share lore, 2nd: comprehend language, 4th: veil

But "Comprehend Language" is also a divine spell of level 2. As sush, it is available to all clerics of level 4 and above. So, why specifically listing it here?

What am I missing?

I was thinking that it would be highly immersive to have an intro playing before the start of a session in order to get in the mood, similar to cartoons or tv series. And thus I created one of my own to share with the community, in case there are other people here that also find this idea appealing! :)

Any feedback/comment is always more than appreciated. Credits given in the description. Video link

Recently, my team has decided to playtest the new classes, in order to provide some feedback. I have built a Dragon Summoner but I have limited experience with Pathfinder 2e (and RPGs in general). As such, I would really appreciate your constructive criticism concerning both the direction I took with this class and the legality of the overall build, from the aspect of the game mechanics.
As a player, I am very fond of putting emphasis on developing my character based on their personal backstory I come up with. As a consequence, some choices might not be the “optimal” and certainly not on par with a “min-max” approach (for example, selecting the “Woodland Elf” heritage instead of, let’s say, “Cavern Elf” which grants darkvision).
If playtesting goes well, we plan to use my Summoner and a Magus that another player has created as NPCs in our campaign, so any advice concerning this potential role of the paricular character is also more than welcome and appreciated.

You can find my character sheet here but for convenience I describe the basic steps I took during the building process below. The Notes section contain information about my Dragon Eidolon.

Level 1:
Ancestry: Elf. Boosts in Dexterity, Intelligence and Charisma. Flaw in Constitution. Hit Points 6.

Due to my intelligence modifier’s boost, I become trained in Acrobatics and I learn Sylvan as an additional language.

Ancestry feat “Elven Lore”. Trained in Arcana and Nature, Elven Lore.
Heritage: Woodland.

Background: Cursed (from Adv. Player’s Guide, related to my backstory). Boosts in Intelligence and Charisma. Trained in Occultism and Curse Lore, gain the Warding Sign reaction.

Intelligence boost => trained in Athletics, I learn Abyssal (related to my backstory).

Additional boosts => Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Charisma.
Intelligence boost => trained in Diplomacy, additional language Necril (related to my backstory).

Class Dragon Summoner => boost in Charisma, additional hit points 10 + 0. Trained in Deception (instead of Arcana since I already have it) and Intimidation. Additional skils 3 + 3 (intelligence modifier) => Crafting, Performance, Religion, Stealth, Survival, Thievery. Learn draconic language due to my dragon eidolon.

lvl 1 summary:
Hit Points: 16

Ability scores: Strength 10, Dexterity 14, Constitution 10, Intelligence 16, Wisdom 10, Charisma 18.

Trained in: Acrobatics, Arcana, Athletics, Crafting, Deception, Diplomacy, Intimidation, Elven Lore, Curse Lore, Nature, Occultism, Performance, Religion, Stealth, Survival, Thievery.

Languages: Elven, Sylvan, Abyssal, Necril, Draconic.

Level 2:
Hit Points: 26

Skill Feat: Intimidating Glare

Summoner Feat: Synthesis

Level 3:
Hit Points: 36

General Feat: Deceptive Worship

Skill Increase: Intimidation to Expert

Level 4:
Hit Points: 46

Skill Feat: Lasting Coercion

Summoner Feat: Distracting Summon Spell

Level 5:
Abilitiy boosts => Strength 12, Dexterity 16, Constitution 12, Intelligence 16, Wisdom 10, Charisma 19.

Hit Points: 56 + 5 (due to constitution boost) = 61

Ancestry Feat: Fey Influence (Dryad) –related to backstory- => trained in primal DCs and spell attack rolls, gain fey trait and innate primal spell summon plants and fungi.

Skill Increase => Deception to Expert.

Final list of spells: Cantrips [Chill Touch, Acid Splash, Shield, Electric Arc, Tanglefoot], Innate Cantrips [Boost Eidolon], Innate Spell [Summon plants or fungi -1 per day-], Focus Spells [Evolution Surge], Spell Repertoire [True Strike, Unseen Servant, Agonizing Despair, Summon Construct] with 2 lvl2 and 2 lvl3 spell slots.

I already find difficult to understand what practically means that I am trained in both Arcana and Primal spell DC and attack rolls (due to my class and Fey Influence heritage feat). Can I also have access to primal spells?

I humbly apologize for every stupid mistake you may spot in my character sheet and I deeply hope that me and my team can contribute even the tiniest bit to making this awsome class an official reality!

During my previous session, I implied in front of my party (in-game) that one of our members might be of evil alignment. I did this with the intention to eventually use Detect Alignment, in order to deduce that I was wrong and she was not evil after all or to confirm my suspicions and expose her. However, I realized that this spell won't work, since she is only level 2 at the moment.

I really do not wish to keep distrust alive between us. On the other hand, suddenly ignoring my suspicions and pretending that I was convinced of her innocence seem really inappropriate and meta-gaming to me.

Is there any other way to deduce if she is of evil alignment? Perhaps through a skill check or a spell that I overlooked which deals damage only to evil creatures? Any feat?

I am a level 2 human cleric of Sarenrae.

I am a human cleric and I would like for my 3rd level to pick the Ancestral Paragon general feat which grants me access to an ancestry feat of my choice. I am interested in Arcane Tattoos feat, which states:

"Choose one of the following schools of magic: abjuration (shield), conjuration (tanglefoot), enchantment (daze), evocation (electric arc), illusion (ghost sound), necromancy (chill touch), or transmutation (sigil). You can cast the associated cantrip (listed in parentheses) as an innate arcane spell at will."

I am having trouble understanding if I have to use an existing cantrip slot or if I gain one extra cantrip slot reserved for the spell I choose (e.g. electric arc).

From Core Rulebook: "You can use this [somatic] component while holding something in your hand, but not if you are restrained or otherwise unable to gesture freely. Spells that require you to touch the target require a somatic component. You can do so while holding something as long as part of your hand is able to touch the target (even if it’s through a glove or gauntlet).

Probably that means that I can cast spells which require somatic component with a hand that is holding a shield, as long as those are not touch spells.

For example, I can cast Divine Lance while holding both a sword and a shield, but I can not cast Chill Touch.

Have I got it right?

Greetings, new member here and also being prepared for my first Pathfinder 2e session (which incidentally is my first RPG session ever).

As the title says, I am interested in creating a cleric of Sarenrae and, specifically, a warpriest. Among the things I find confusing (being a newbie ) is the selection of spells more suitable for the "job" and the neat distribution of my skill points. As far as gear is concerned, oh boy... I just followed the recommendations of the Corebook and bought cleric's starter pack. For my weapon of choice, I found quite obvious that the best choice is a scimitar, Sarenrae's favored weapon.

In any case, here is a link to a PDF with my progress so far: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1JcRkP9EcQ7rFRPGBTaYuDY-AjElVdjK8. I hope some of the most devoted of you could review my character and provide some valuable insight :-) I really want to be a helpful supporting character for my group. The only prerequisites are my race (Human), my deity (Sarenrae) and my doctrine (Warpriest).

Thank you all and I hope with time I will be a useful and contributing member of this forum. :)

Sarenrae bless you!
