"You do realize who you're working for, right? Caelreth retorts as the man passes out into a magical sleep. All of the threats neutralized, the elven paladin moves to the back of the wagon that Astingaire is at just in time to see the lizard-thing shock him. He jabs at the lizard in retaliation. 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5

Oh, don't worry about the 'Wow, harsh xD' thing. I was laughing irl when I typed that, though I realize that wasn't obvious from just the text I typed. Caelreth is level 1 still, so it's not a big blow in the long run if he did lose his paladin powers. I'm not sure if you can do a level 1 rebuild from fallen-paladin to paladin again, but there's always rebuilding as a proper fighter (and then possibly back to a proper paladin as of level 2). Noted about Shelyn's code of conduct, and I'll have to see if I can find a different one, because I don't like playing never-strike-first characters. Maybe Sarenrae.

Wow, harsh. xD
The only other GM I've played Caelreth under pointed out the Desna thing, though he only pointed it out to say that other GMs might care. I had actually thought Desna was NG when I made Caelreth, and it made the most sense since she's a traditionally-elven deity. If it needs to be PFS-valid, just consider his deity to be Shelyn. On the bright side, if he's already fallen, there's no need to worry about later shady elements in the special! But does the paladin code of conduct really require him to only attack evil characters? Seems to me that under the circumstances, attacking the caravan crew was a foregone conclusion. I guess attacking an unarmed man would break the code of conduct (probably?) but he had a longbow slung over his shoulder, so I don't know that I'd call that unarmed. Anyway, I can roll with it, no worries. Caelreth blinks and grimaces, then notices that the man he was attacking has collapsed to the ground. "Well, then," he says, and notes that the rest of the camp is roused. The elf moves to attack the man who just grabbed his bow. 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7
His recent disorienting loss of power apparently throws his aim off, however.

It's probably worth pointing out that mechanically it's inspire courage and not bless. Adds a +1 to damage that bless wouldn't, gives a bonus to saves against charms as well as fear effects--and isn't dispelled by bane. Caelreth draws his own longsword and moves to engage the sentry. 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 = 24

"Given the circumstances, I think the frontal approach is called for," Caelreth says, unshouldering his shield. "I don't imagine we'll catch them unawares, though, so let's keep that in mind." The elven paladin peers through the trees, relying on his low-light vision to see if he can discern any caravan members who are awake. Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Caelreth looks unruffled as the bodyguards move to intercept him. "It'd be quite funny if the Aspis Consortium were disqualified from the auction for disrupting the venue," he says. "Don't worry, though. I can still hear what's being said from here." The elf offers his most winning smile.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 Having divested himself of the strongbox, Caelreth wanders into the crowd to make inquiries about the Aspis representative, Maiveer Sloan. “I hear the Aspis Consortium is interested in the key,” he says to someone nearby. “I imagine that bunch is worth watching. Do you know what their man looks like?”

Caelreth dutifully follows after Berenstein. How were we supposed to log this? he wonders to himself. As Pathfinders? Or are we already incognito? Maybe as an adventuring company? 'Caelreth's Champions of Order'? Or maybe 'Durothil's Dragoons'....? Eh, I'll let the others do the talking. The elven paladin smiles at the presumed proctor and hefts the box a bit, adjusting its weight to bring the box to the man's attention.

"If there are no objections, I will handle the strong box," Caelreth says. Mainly just to keep things rolling. Readjusting his equipment, the elven paladin takes the strong box in hand and accompanies the group as it makes its way to the Cathedral of Abadar. Once inside, he casts around to see if he can find someone who looks like a proctor (or 'the Proctor,' specifically).

Astingaire Morrington wrote: "If by paladin, you mean a solider who dedicated to the battle against evil," Astingaire replies dismissively. "Then, no. Soldier was but one of many the guises of the immortal Aroden. If the god of humanity does not allow himself to be defined by a single mantle should not I, as one of his faithful, also refuse any such limited manner of title or office?" "I...see." The elven paladin makes a note to keep an eye on the human supremacist. Clearing his throat, he turns to the two newcoming halflings. "Well met, Malakar, Merda. Given the number of us, I'd say it must be an important announcement. Maybe hunting down an evil cult? No, probably something to do with an ancient archaeological dig. But then, maybe we're stopping an evil cult from disrupting a dig?" With a shrug, he finishes, "Who knows?"

Beren Stane wrote: He offers his hand to the elf. "Glad to see I'm not the oldest one here. How long you been walking this ground, ancient one?" The elf returns Beren’s handshake. “Not long. Only a century,” Caelreth says with a wry smile. The elf then turns to greet the old man with the winged helm as well. “You’re a paladin then, Sir Astongaire?”

Intadafiahagin surely isn’t his name, Caelreth thinks to himself. The tall, brown-haired elf-lord gives the mountain of a man a reserved nod and returns the handshake. Armored in scalemail and carrying a long sword and a shield, he replies, “Caelreth. I don’t recognize the accent—the River Kingdoms?”

Caelreth rolls his eyes. "If we do not have to fight it, I don't see a reason to do so," he chimes in. "Maybe try the other door?" The paladin moves to the southern door and starts to reach for it. Then he remembers that he triggered a trap the last time he did that, and thinks better of it.
